[INTRODUCTION]

I wanted to write an IGM. So here it is. I've seen random event IGMs
before, but not with this range of events! Some just give or take,
others make the player make a choice, and still more test intellect.
A well rounded mix, if you ask me. Oh, yeah, its multi-node and needs
only LORD's drop-file and node definition file. One last thing, please
excuse spelling errors. That's not my high-point in life. - Jason.
-----------------------------------------------------------------

                              IGM Update Notes:

 06/09/2004 Note: As of today, L.O.R.D. Cavern is now using
 LCSETUP.EXE as its Setup program, instead of SETUP.EXE.

 ---------------------------------------------------------
 01/21/2005: Started usage of CAVE-USE.TXT for two IGM Usage Reports that
 will display all IGM usage during the current day, for all players who
 use LORD CAVERN. Report covers positive changes to listed stats
 that are done by IGM events. If player used RHP Script events,
 some stat values may contain negative amounts:

 Report #1 covers Wisdom (Experience), Max HitPoints, Strength, Defense,
 Charm, Gems, and Visits. Report #2 covers Gold, Adoptions, Lays, Forest
 Fights, and Skill Use Points. Each report includes the player's LORD Name.

 Visits refers to the # of visits made to the IGM each day, and has NO
 relation to the IGM's Cave Searches stat.

 --------------------------------------------------------------------------
 The on-screen Usage reports will display for ALL users, as of 06/11/2005.
 I had initially had it setup to only show them for the Sysop User and
 for my personal LORD characters.

 02/02/05 Notes: Last update of IGM's player database structure.

  Note: Both usage reports will be shown to ALL users during IGM exit process,
        as of June 11th, 2005 recompilation.

  LORD data files accessed by IGM, in LORD directory:
  --------------------------------------------------------------------
  3RDPARTY.DAT : Tells LORD what IGMs are installed in the game.
                  Is modified when the IGM is installed or un-installed.

  LOGNOW.TXT : LORD's Daily Happenings file. Updated during normal
                  IGM usage by various events, or during LCSETUP.EXE usage.

  ERROR.LOG : Contains any error message data that LORD CAVERN writes
                  when LORDCAVE.EXE is being executed.

  * = Needed for program to run.

  =========================================================================
  LCSETUP is configured to create a new 3rdparty.dat and/or Lognow.txt file
  if one or both for any reason does not exist when the program is accessing
  them. This feature was added on Dec. 02, 2004.
  =========================================================================

  BTW: LCSETUP.EXE is needed for (a) installing the IGM; (b) un-installing
  it; (c) installing, viewing installed, or un-installing RHP script
  files; and (d) creating/updating/viewing the IGM's Usage Reports
  file (CAVE-USE.TXT); which are used by The L.O.R.D. Cavern IGM.
  So keep it wherever LORDCAVE.EXE is.  {01/21/05 note}

  NOTE: As of 06-26-2004, LORD Cavern is now using LC-EXTRA.CFG instead of
  EXTRA.CFG. If you are upgrading from a previous installation, simply
  rename your old EXTRA.CFG file to LC-EXTRA.CFG before running LCSETUP.EXE.

  --------------------------------------------------------------------------
  During IGM exit process, if CAVE-USE.TXT does not already exist, it will
  be created automatically by the IGM. Otherwise, with each new IGM usage,
  it is updated with the current player's data. (As of 01/21/2005.)

  RHP Scripts Note: As of 01/21/2005, the IGM will track positive/negative
  changes to most of the numeric LORD Stats that an RHP Script event may
  change. Only positive changes are covered in RHP Scripts for the Skill
  Use Point LORD stats.

  ======================================================================
  02/04/05 Note: Since you can run LCSETUP.EXE from a location different
  from where you have the IGM installed, which I do myself for IGM testing
  from my pascal compiler's LORDCAVE directory, you should always verify
  your IGM config settings from the main menu, using the CONFIGURE option,
  before you use the VIEW USAGE REPORTS option. That way you will always
  be accessing the data files that are in the actual IGM directory.

  This may be obvious, but don't try to use any of LCSETUP's main menu options
  other than CONFIGURE, if you have deleted, or lost your LORDCAVE.CFG file.
  This also applies in case your IGM config file somehow gets corrupted with
  invalid information.
------------------------------------------------------------------------

Accessing the Usage Reports file:  {02/07/2005}
===============================================
As of Feb. 07, 2005, you may now directly access/view the Usage
Reports file by using LCSETUP REPORT command from the DOS prompt.

That bypasses the normal main menu processing that is not needed
if you are just wishing to update and view the usage reports.

One requirement: You have to have a player database file in
order to view/create/update the IGM Usage Reports file.

As of June 11, 2005, all users get to see the on-screen Usage
Report screens.
===============================================================

[REQUIREMENTS]

LORD version 3.25 or greater.
DOS (version 3.1 or better) or compatible operating system.
SHARE installed for multinode systems.
A Modem! 300-115,200 baud and any fossil lock baud rate up to 115,200.
  (Works well on telnet, too!)
286 or better processor (should not be a problem...)
Memory! Very little needed to run... never actually bothered to find out.

** Note 1: Share.exe is not required for usage on systems using
Windows 95, Windows 98, Windows 2000/NT, Windows ME, Windows XP,
or non-Microsoft O.S.'s such as OS/2 or Linux. At least for Local
Mode play. It may still be needed for multi-node usage of the IGM.

** Note 2: IGM verified to work without problems under Windows ME.

Also verified to work under Windows XP, but its handling
of DOS apps requires one to run IGM in Full-Screen mode.

Basically, Win-XP runs the IGMs in a 1/3-sized window,
and will not let you adjust the window size in any fashion
I could personally verify.

Running either LORD v4.06 or LORD v4.07 beta (December 2003+) compilation. **

*** Note 3: IGM was fully tested using Pentium III and IV CPUs.

   Primary testing of IGM has been done using MS Windows ME and MS Windows XP
   operating systems, with secondary testing by beta testers using other
   MS Windows O.S's such as Windows 95, Windows 98, or Windows 2000/NT.

** Note 4: In regard, to Windows XP handling of DOS Apps, people can
   check out the following info.

   http://www.jpsoft.com/ - JP Software has a program named 4NT, usable
   with all of the NT-based Microsoft Windows O/S's. It may be usable
   if you can afford the $69.95 cost to run dos apps in a more normal
   fashion than the operating system will let you experience.
==============================================================

06/11/05: Moved IGM Usage Warnings and Data Files Corruption
sections to the new LC17-REV.TXT file.
===============================================================

	 All versions:

Your IGM will need to be reset, if you used ROCK.PRG, it must be renamed
in your LC-EXTRA.CFG. IGM Versions prior to v1.6b Beta use EXTRA.CFG.

WARNING: If you are upgrading from an old version of LORDCAVE
which used .PRG files, -- which were used YEARS ago by Jason --,
do NOT try to use them with current versions of this IGM.

Use ONLY the RHP files distributed inside the CAVE17.ZIP,
CAVERHP1.ZIP, CAVERHP2.ZIP, and CAVERHP3.ZIP archive files - all
of which are available from my Castle Camelot web-site's LORD Apps
web-page.
http://www.fidotel.com/public/camelot/lordapps.htm web-page.

For any OLD version of LORDCAVE, rename any old EXTRA.CFG file
to LC-EXTRA.CFG. Then run LCSETUP and verify all of your Extra
Configuration settings.

Note: LCSETUP will automatically delete any EXTRA.CFG file that
is encountered when it starts executing, if you are using v1.7.
===============================================================

Updating existing IGM installation to v1.7:
--------------------------------------------
    Unless you have been using beta versions released after
    February 2005, EVERYONE is required to delete their old
    LORDCAVE.DAT player database file before using v1.7.

    This IGM's player database structure was revised in January
    and February 2005. Old LORDCAVE.dat files are incompatible
    with the new IGM.

    Update process summary:
      1) unzip ALL files from CAVE17.ZIP using over-write mode
         to the LORDCAVE IGM directory.
      2) Delete your existing LORDCAVE.DAT file.
      3) Run LCSETUP.EXE and follow the prompts as usual.
      4) Resume using IGM as you normally do in LORD.

    If you have an old SETUP.EXE file, delete it manually.
    ============================================================

If you used any of the L.O.R.D. Cavern RHP Set #1, #2, and/or #3
files, those all need to be replaced with the current versions.
So remember to get Caverhp1.zip, Caverhp2.zip, and Caverhp3.zip.
The most current files are always posted here:

  http://www.fidotel.com/public/camelot/Scripts/ directory.

  http://www.filegate.net/camelot/lordfile/ directory.

  http://www.nightfallgames.com/files - See the IGMs directory.

RHP Script files have to be in the SAME directory as LORD Cavern
is in. Follow the regular instructions for Installation now. The
IGM will run properly without any RHP scripts installed. They
simply add additional dimensions to your adventure in the Cave.

Script authors who use @DEFENSE@, @SKILLUSE@, etc., codes from this
update are reminded that they must use @VERSION@ 1.5 in their scripts.

** Some RHP languages codes created/edited in June/July 2003 will
** require the RHP script author to use @VERSION@ 1.5c (or 1.6).
=======================================

As of Jan. 03, 2005, LCSetup will ask you during installation if
you want to have the Version Number data included in the IGM Entry
Name line in LORD's 3rdparty.dat file. Default color code used
for the version data is Light Green in the file.
=========================================================

Immediate changes to note:
---------------------------
1) The LORD Cavern is now using LCSETUP.EXE, instead of SETUP.EXE.

   For optimum usage of the IGM though, you should always use a
   dedicated directory for LORD Cavern files. At this time, LORD
   Cavern will run fine in the same directory as the files for either
   The Forest Outhouse or The Outlands Tavern.

All of the RHP Scripts currently available, that I am aware of,
for L.O.R.D. Cavern have been tested in LORD test sessions,
using a set of maxed-out LORD stats. None were found that would
cause any numeric LORD stat to go above-range, or to go negative,
as of mid-Summer 2004.
--------------------------------------------------------

   As of October 2004, The Gateway also may be used in the same
   directory as one or more of those IGMs. This applies ONLY to
   the current versions of each of the four IGMs.

   ( ** As of June 2005, the current official versions of the four
   RHP-Based DOS LORD IGMs is as follows: The Gateway v1.3, The
   Forest Outhouse v2.50, The L.O.R.D. Cavern v1.7, and Outlands
   Tavern v1.6. RHP Toolkit is now v1.4.  ** )
===========================================================

06/11/05: Moved "Notes regarding update to v1.6:", "RHP Language
Changes in LORD Cavern v1.6:", and "RHP Language Changes: June
2004:" sections to the LC17-REV.TXT file.
===============================================================

                                [INSTALLATION]

Put the files in the zip in a directory off of your LORD directory.
I suggest naming the directory "LORDCAVE". "IGMs" is also a good choice.
Then run LCSETUP.

Press 'C' to configure first. Then press 'S' to configure LC-EXTRA.CFG.
This is so the User/Sysop can add RHP programs (see [EXTRA SETUP
INFO]), and to specify how many Cave Searches are allowed each day.

The rest is not too hard to figure out. Just answer all of the questions.
Installing (pressing 'I' after leaving the Configure sub-menu) will put
the IGM's run lines into 3RDPARTY.DAT, and an announcement that The
L.O.R.D. Cavern has been installed will be written in LORD's Daily
Happenings log file (lognow.txt).
------------------------------

The L.O.R.D. Cavern v1.6 and The Gateway v1.2 IGMs both use SETUP.EXE
and EXTRA.CFG files, so they can NOT be used in the same directory.

LORD Cavern v1.6a+ betas now use LCSETUP.EXE, as of mid-June 2004.
LORD Cavern v1.6b+ Betas are using LC-EXTRA.CFG files, as of late June 2004.

Starting with Outlands Tavern v1.5, it can be used in the same directory
as any version of Gateway, L.O.R.D. Cavern, or The Forest Outhouse. The
same thing applies to the current betas of LORD Cavern.

Do NOT EVER try to use older versions of these IGMs with their SETUP.EXE
file renamed. The programs are hard-coded to search for their data files
using SETUP.EXE, so trying to use a renamed Setup program will only cause
you trouble.

   LORDCAVE v1.6 and OLDER Versions Note:

For backup purposes ONLY, you can copy extra.cfg to LC-extra.cfg, using
LORDCAVE v1.6 and prior versions. If you do so, remember that any changes
made to extra.cfg will require update of the backup data file.

=========================
Script authors, who use RHPTest.EXE, can run it from whichever directory
contains the RHP files being tested. The program is designed to work with
The Gateway, The L.O.R.D. Cavern, The Outlands Tavern, and The Forest
Outhouse. It is NOT designed for testing RHP script files made for usage
with the LordStat utility. RHPTest data files will not conflict with the
operation of either of the four IGMs which use the RHP Language.
======================================================================

For those of you who want to edit LORDCAVE.CFG yourself, here's a
listing of it:

  LORDCAVE.CFG Listing:
  ==================================
    C:\INTERNET\LORD\
    BBS Name
    Sysop's First Name
    Sysop's Last Name
    Sysop's Handle (your LORD character's name)
    000000 -- Old registration code. No longer in use.
    C:\INTERNET\LORD\LORDCAVE\
    4

Line 1: Path to LORD with trailing backslash
Line 2: Your BBS name
Line 3: Your real first name
Line 4: Your real last name
Line 5: *NEW!* Your handle (optional). Displayed at start up instead
        of your real name, no effect on registration, can include LORD
        codes.
Line 6: Your registration code. ** Not in usage. All versions of this
        IGM are freeware now, and are fully usable. LCSETUP should write
        "000000" to this line. If it doesn't, add it manually.
Line 7: Path to IGM Directory with trailing backslash
Line 8: Kids per Day adoption limit. Allowed range is 1-4.
        The default value is preset to 4.

The LORD path MUST be on the first line, and no comments are allowed
unless they are after the IGM directory path and Kids/Day lines.

LORDCAVE.CFG should ONLY contain 8 lines.
==========================================

As of v1.6b Beta, the data for LORD Path and IGM Path is capitalized inside
the LORDCAVE.CFG after you use LCSETUP.EXE or have used the IGM from inside LORD.
----------------------------------------------

In v1.3 - v1.4x versions, the File_id.diz file states that the IGM will
use non-standard COM ports. There is no configuration setting for that,
since the IGM obtains the information from LORD's Node*.Dat file. As long
as LORD is set-up correctly, this will be set-up right in that respect.
I wish more IGMs used that Node*.Dat, too...
----------------------------------------------

These are the lines put in 3RDPARTY.DAT by The L.O.R.D. Cavern:

<path to lordcave>\LORDCAVE.EXE *
`#T`5he `#L`5.`#O`5.`#R`5.`#D`5. `#C`5avern`% v1.7

======================================== Without Color codes:
Example:  c:\lord\LORDCAVE\LORDCAVE.EXE *
The L.O.R.D. Cavern v1.7

As of Jan. 03, 2005, LCSETUP.EXE will ask you if you want it
to include the version number data or not in the IGM entry.
-----------------------------------------------------------------

Normally speaking, any OUT files created by The L.O.R.D. Cavern are
supposed to be deleted by the IGM as the player is leaving. Should
any of the IGM's OUT data files get left behind, the IGM Uninstall
process can find and delete them automatically for you. Just remember
to re-install the IGM after using Uninstall process if you wish to
keep using the program.
===================================================================

                              [EXTRA SETUP INFO]
Use LCSETUP's option 'S' to edit the extra information, which allows
you to install RHP scripts, and to set how many Cave Searches are
allowed each day. The program should be straight forward...
-------------------------

Advice to sysops: You should avoid using anything over 60 searches
per day, unless your LORD game is so competitive that normal
interaction between players can off-set the net rewards a player
will get from using L.O.R.D. Cavern each day. Try using the IGM
yourself to get an idea of what # of Cave Searches to use.
-----------------------------------------------------------------

                                [UNINSTALLING]
Note: To reset The L.O.R.D. Cavern, run LCSETUP and press 'R'.

Now why would you want to un-install? <G>? Well, run LCSETUP, press 'U'.
Unless it's in an IGM extender's files. Then use the expander to
uninstall The L.O.R.D. Cavern. IGME is great with that... Wait! I
mentioned something not written by me! Oh, no! Seriously, its a
great program. Look in to it...

As with IGM installations, anytime you un-install an IGM, you should
update data files used by IGM extender programs, if you use one, or
by the LordMenu utility. Otherwise, when you are in LORD next, and
select a number from the Other Places menu, you probably will find
yourself running a different IGM than you wanted at some point. {01/21/05}

==================================================
Provided the user is running LORD v3.50 - v4.00a - by Seth Robinson;
or v4.02 - v4.07 - by Michael Preslar; LORD will automatically handle
as many IGMs as you wish to install. However, unless you are using
the LordMenu utility, any IGMs installed over 24 will result in user
having the Other Places menu scroll upward until the command prompt
appears. Use of LordMenu v1.30 - by Lloyd Hannesson - allows you to
list installed IGMs in a two columns per line menu.
--   http://www.dasme.org/techn/files/lrdmnu13.zip (LordMenu v1.30)
-----------------------------------------------------------------

                                   [USING IT]
Just select The L.O.R.D. Cavern in the Other Places in LORD. It will
do maintenance automatically when the first person for the day enters,
and it doesn't take that long. BTW, if you use 'Clean Mode' in LORD
(with version 3.26+) then the user can't get laid, as found in one
of the random Cave options. It's still there, just reworded so it will
correspond to "Clean Mode" environment.
-----------------------------------------------------------------

Documentation Rewrite Notes: I've worked on this file for the
past three years, adding stuff here and there. So I am well
aware it probably is too big and it definitely is messy. I will
work on a complete rewrite of the documentation files for The
Forest Outhouse, The Gateway, The LORD Cavern, The Outlands
Tavern, and the RHP Toolkit sometime in summer 2005.

1st documentation redesign step is usage of LC17-REV.TXT file.

The L.O.R.D. Cavern v2.00 Notes:
  Version 2.00: Will apply to the next DOS Lord Version, and
  possibly to the first version of this IGM made for LORD/32 usage.
  However, I may end up using version 1.00 for the Lord/32
  version. I'll decide that sort of details sometime in late
  summer 2005 or at a later time.

  Version 2.00's DOS LORD version of The L.O.R.D. Cavern will be
  prepared and released either during late Summer or early Fall
  2005. It will use either A.N.G.E.L or MannDoor tool-kit,
  instead of DDIGM. After this summer, I do not intend to have
  a single IGM that is DDIGM-based.
  ---------------------------------

  In summary, this program may be used with DOS LORD versions and will
  be fully supported.
==========================================================================

IGM was developed using Borland Pascal 7.01 on either a MS Windows
Millenium Edition system or one using MS Windows XP.
