This IGM was created by my friend Charlie Wardick.
=================================================================

1.0: Summary of changes from Charlie Wardick's v2.00 IGM:
==========================================================

1) The KDrive-based v2.00 IGM is unreliable, in comparison to
   the ANGEL-based version, and it is no longer supported/developed.

2) The IGM now has a Player Database Editor utility (ChanEdit),
   which sysops/end-users can use to edit/view data in records.

3) The IGM can be played up to a maximum of 20 times per day,
   or used as a 1 visit/day IGM, depending on how it is configured.

4) If player loses their Horse, they also lose 25% of their Forest
   Fights. If player gains a horse, they get a 25% increase in
   Forest Fights. This is how LORD itself does things at times.

5) The IGM allows the player to survive being killed in the igm
   *IF* they have a Fairy. But this only works ONE time per day.

6) All rewards and penalties are based upon the player's Game Level.

7) The IGM is written to use a Player Database Backup file which
   is used to recreate the database file should it get deleted
   during igm usage, either by the user or data corruption, etc.
   It also has two Usage Reports that show other players some
   of what happened to others who used the igm each day.

8) The IGM was developed and tested using LORD v4.08 beta in
   Local Mode; and using a Synchronet BBS setup that runs
   LORD v4.07. Beta testers also have used/tested the IGM
   under older versions of LORD and on different BBS's.

9) Added REPAIR module in Dec. 2009 to IGM. Allows users to
   fix problems in the CHANGLNG.DAT file without having to
   uninstall and re-install the IGM.

10) 01/17/2010. Added Delete Player Record option to CHANEDIT.
    For use ONLY if sysops need to delete a player's IGM record
    because they are using the IGM in some way to cheat in LORD
    games. Feature only works if CHANEDIT is run in /DEBUG mode.
============================================================

2.0  INTRODUCTION:
-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
  See Charlie Wardick's original IGM docs file CHANG200.TXT
  for old details on the IGM.
  -----------------------------------------------------------

  How to update from Changling v2.00 to v2.40:
  -------------------------------------------------
  (1) Whether you use the KDrive version or the ANGEL version of
  v2.00, everyone is to uninstall the old IGM from LORD using
  the v2.00 program's Uninstall mode.

  (2) Delete *ALL* files used by Changeling v2.00.
      CHANG.EXE, CHANG.TXT, CHANGLNG.EXE and
      CHANGLNG.TXT (* delete ONLY the CHANGLNG.* files
      that are dated 03/24/2002), READNOW.TXT, and
      HISTORY.TXT. Also delete the old CHANGLNG.DAT file.

  (3) Using overwrite mode, unzip all files from CHG2WORK.ZIP
      or CHANG240.ZIP into your Changeling IGM directory.

  (4) You can re-install the IGM now. Use the command
      CHANGLNG INSTALL.

  (5) ** LordMenu users: Update your data files every time you
      make changes of ANY kind to the 3RDPARTY.DAT file.

  End of instructions.
==========================================================

2.0:  THE IGM Limits:
==================================================================
  1) IGM is only usable 1-20 times per day.

  2) Fairy Rescue from Death event can only be used ONCE per day,
     unless you reset a player's Fairy_Rescue variable to FALSE
     using CHANEDIT.EXE.

  3) As of 02/23/2009, the IGM now only does ONE encounter with
     the Changeling per visit. I've disabled the code that did
     two encounters per visit for awhile during beta development.

  No other limits are applicable at current time.

  Note: You can only use the CHANEDIT.EXE player database editor
  if you have an existing CHANPLAY.DAT player database file.
--------------------------------------------------------------

3.0: The ChangeLing v2.40 Configuration Process:
======================================
  1) Run CHANGLNG Config. Follow on-screen instructions.

  -- Max Visits per Day. Range is 1-20, default is 10,
     effective Jul. 21th, 2008.

  -- Sysop's Lord name - Also called Sysop Handle sometimes.

  -- Unless you re-install the game, you have to manually update
     3RDPARTY.DAT to the current IGM version data. Which is now:

     The ChangeLing v2.40

     If you have not been using version data, then the changes in
     beta numbers is not something you need to deal with in 3RDPARTY.DAT.
  ======================================================================

  ** DOS LORD v4.07 was officially released on June 07th, 2006.

  IGMs are only usable in DOS LORD and in LORD for Windows (LORD/32).
  The 32-bit LORD programs are unable to use DOS LORD IGM programs.

  -------------------------------------------------------------
  If you have more than one LORD game, be sure to double-check values
  in CHANGLNG.DAT so that you know which game you are installing the
  IGM into.
  ====================================================================

  Everyone using the IGM gets to view the IGM Usage Reports on-screen,
  with one exception. Those players who have exceeded the Max Visits
  per Day Limit, do NOT get to see those Usage Reports.

  This IGM has 6 data lines. An example is shown below:

C:\INTERNET\LORD\                  <-- LORD Path
C:\BP7\CHANGLNG\UNITS\             <-- IGM directory path
DONALD TIDMORE                     <-- Sysop's Name
BELGARION                          <-- Sysop's LORD Name
CASTLE CAMELOT                     <-- BBS Name
20 <-- Max Visits per Day
===============================================================

CHANGLNG REPAIR:   {Added in Dec. 2009}
--------------
Allows you to correct problems in CHANGLNG.DAT without having to
uninstall the igm and re-install it. It does everything that
CHANGLNG INSTALL does except for writing data to LORD's LOGNOW.TXT
and 3RDPARTY.DAT files. Requires v2.40 of IGM.
===============================================================

4.00:  FILES:
-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
The following files are included within The ChangeLing archive:

FILE_ID.DIZ  - Description file (CHANGLNG.DIZ)
CHANGLNG.DIZ - backup copy of archive identifier for BBS usage.

CHANGLNG.EXE - The ChangeLing IGM. v2.40
               Setup is included inside.
CHANGLNG.TXT - The ChangeLing docs - this file.

CHANEDIT.EXE - ChangeLing's Player Database Editor.  v1.10
CHANEDIT.TXT - Docs for CHANEDIT utility.
CHANEDIT.DIZ - DIZ file for CHANEDIT utility.

CCL-APPS.TXT - Info on all of my LORD Programming projects.
CCL-PROJ.TXT - Synopsis of early 2009 Programming plans.

* CHANGLNG.DAT - Created by IGM when it is installed. Stores sysop
                 name, BBS name, and LORD directory path.

* CHANTIME.DAT - Used to keep track of change in Day, Month
                 or Year, so IGM knows internally when to reset its
                 data files for a new day's game usage.

* CHANPLAY.DAT - Binary player database. Tracks all activity
                 inside IGM by every player.

* CHANGUSE.TXT - Disk file listing content of CHANPLAY.DAT.
                 Created automatically when IGM is used by sysop or
                 the end-user. Created when CHANGLNG REPORT command
                 is entered from DOS Prompt. Req'd: CHANPLAY.DAT file.
                 Contains two IGM usage reports.

* CHANBACK.DAT - Backup of the IGM's CHANPLAY.DAT player database
                 file. When the IGM is running and CHANPLAY.DAT
                 can't be found, it is used to recreate the player database file.

* CHANEDIT.CFG - Config file used by CHANEDIT.EXE. Created the first
                 time CHANEDIT.EXE is used, or whenever it does not
                 exist when the program is executed.
====================================================================

5.0  INSTALLATION:
-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
    Always obtain current beta archive from me via email. Backups
    posted online on my distribution sites, and on my Castle
    Camelot web-site are not always up-to-date.

    =========================================================

    The ChangeLing v2.40 (contains Chanedit files):
    http://camelot.legendarydragons.com/IGM-Beta/chg2work.zip

    ChanEdit v1.10 (contains CHANEDIT files only):
    http://camelot.legendarydragons.com/IGM-Beta/chanedit.zip

    Until the IGM is worked on again, use CHANG240.ZIP instead
    of CHG2WORK.ZIP and CHANED11.ZIP instead of CHANEDIT.ZIP
    in the following instructions. 02/23/2009 note. DGT.

    {Note: ChanEdit v1.00 is NOT usable with The Changeling v2.40.}
    {      Use ONLY v1.10 of CHANEDIT.EXE with this IGM.}
    ========================================================

    1. Unzip CHANG240.ZIP (or CHG2WORK.ZIP) into a LORD sub-
       directory, or into main LORD directory. As long as no
       other IGM uses CHANG*.* and/or CHANEDIT.* names that
       this IGM uses, it will co-exist with other LORD IGMs
       without any problem. The Docs files can be renamed,
       if needed, if there is any file-name conflict.

    2. If you are updating an configuration, run CHANGLNG Config.
       It can't be used to change LORD Path or IGM Path.

    3. To install the IGM, from DOS Prompt, type:
		 CHANGLNG INSTALL

       Follow on-screen instructions, and IGM will be installed into
       your LORD game. IGM announces itself in LOGNOW.TXT, and adds
       its entry lines to 3RDPARTY.DAT. That concludes installation.
       Process creates the IGM's config file: CHANGLNG.DAT.

C:\BP7\CHANGLNG\UNITS\CHANGLNG.EXE /N* /GC:\INTERNET\LORD
The ChangeLing v2.40

Basic entry lines that I use, without LORD Color Codes,
in the 3RDPARTY.DAT. Will be different for each user since
everyone uses different directory/drive path info.
=======================================================================

IGM Removal Synopsis:
-------------------------
    1. Change to where you installed the IGM. Type: CHANGLNG REMOVE
       Follow instructions, and IGM will be removed from 3RDPARTY.DAT,
       and the CHANGLNG.DAT file will be deleted.

    2. Delete the CHANGLNG.* files unless you think you may want to keep
       them around. That concludes IGM removal process. Also delete
       files like CHANTIME.DAT, CHANGUSE.TXT, CHANBACK.DAT, and CHANPLAY.DAT,
       unless you plan to re-install the IGM later. Note that the
       CHANEDIT.* files can be deleted if you don't intend to use them
       the IGM any more.

       The Un-install process will ask you if you wish to delete
       data files. If you confirm with a Yes response, then you
       have to choose to delete each data file individually. I felt
       this was the best way to do the Uninstallation process.

       02/23/09: Deleted info about CSDEBUG.TXT debug log file. If
       you have one, delete it. Its no longer in usage by the IGM.
============================================================

    I only support the CURRENT Version of an IGM. In this case,
    I only provide support for v2.40 of The ChangeLing. This
    applies to ALL users of The ChangeLing LORD IGM.
    ------------------------------------------------------------

    As to The ChangeLing v2.00, I only provide support for the
    IGM's ANGEL version, which was created by, and released by,
    Charlie Wardick. I do not support the IGM's KDRIVE/KLORD version,
    since it never worked reliably for me on any long-term basis.

    Charlie is the only person who truly understands how
    KDRIVE/KLORD works, other than Korombos, who is in prison in
    Arizona for the attempted murder of his wife, and other
    felony crimes. And Charlie stopped doing any Pascal/BBS
    programming back in 2006.
    ------------------------------------------------------------

    * Obtain CHANG240.ZIP from one of the sources on the Internet,
      preferably one of the sites listed in this file. Or you
      can request the file from me via Email or Fidonet echo mail.

      On Fidonet, you can reach me in the DoorWare echo, DoorGames
      echo, or LORD echo, or via NetMail.

      To be sure you have the most current beta, or official version,
      always check with me.

-----------------------------
Special Note about the Prompt Dialog Boxes. If you are using
a mouse, just click on a prompt option such as YES. If you're
using keyboard commands, ALT-Y responds to YES prompts, and
ALT-N responds to the NO Prompts. To use a CANCEL prompt,
though, you WILL have to use the Mouse to select those.
--------------------

Those dialog boxes are also used in all of my IGM's Player
Database Editor programs. When created, this IGM will have
its own utility program CHANEDIT.EXE. It is meant only for
usage by BBS sysops/webmasters and end-users of the IGMs.
=========================================================

Minus LORD color codes, which in general I personally don't use
much myself, this is what the IGM command lines in 3RDPARTY.DAT
should look like. Each person installs programs their own way,
so your directory path will usually be different:

C:\BP7\CHANGLNG\UNITS\CHANGLNG.EXE /N* /GC:\INTERNET\LORD
The ChangeLing v2.40

The actual IGM Path and LORD path values will be different for
most users. But the IGM command line MUST look like the example.

The actual description entry in 3RDPARTY.DAT will contain
LORD color codes. They can be changed to your own preference.

You can have version data or omit it as you wish.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
Note: While using this IGM, you may NOT rename any of these files:
       CHANGLNG.DAT, CHANTIME.DAT, CHANPLAY.DAT, CHANGLNG.EXE,
       or CHANBACK.DAT.

       That also applies to the files CHANEDIT.EXE and CHANEDIT.CFG
       that will be used by the IGM's Player Database Editor utility,
       along with its CHANEDIT.TXT and CHANEDIT.DIZ docs files.

       Renaming an executable program can sometimes cause it to
       malfunction, or it might refuse to run at all.

       Renaming CHANGUSE.TXT will not hurt anything, but should not
       be done except to make backups of the usage reports file.

       Renaming files will result in IGM usage problems, or keep the
       IGM from working at all. Plus, doing so is a violation of the
       conditions for obtaining technical support. I do not promise
       to provide support to people who disregard these directions.
======================================================================

REQUIREMENTS:
  1. Any version of DOS LORD that supports IGMs. Testing was done
     with versions 3.55 through v4.08 Beta.

     The IGM is based on the LORD v3.55 player database format,
     therefore it can NOT be used with older versions of LORD
     such as v3.26 or v3.50.

  2. DOS 6.x or later versions. Probably works with DOS v3.xx forward
     as well, but I can't say for sure.

  3. IGM is usable whether LORD is registered or not. NONE of my
     IGMs will EVER change your LORD registration status.

SPECIAL THANKS TO:
-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-

Jason Brown - For entrusting me with his LORD IGMs and utilities
                  as their co-author, maintainer, and updater.
                  Also for several long years of LORD friendship.

Charlie Wardick - My primary programming teacher. For over a year
                  of training in how to write LADY scripts in a
                  logical manner, and then in relearning Pascal
                  language and usage of Turbo/Borland Pascal.

Chris MacPherson - For entrusting me with his Pawn Shop IGM.

Kenneth Padgett - For letting me take care of his Hiding in the Shadows IGM.

Chris Ciesiensky - For letting me take care of his Turgeon's House IGM.

Jay Hodges - He has taught me how to write LORD/32 programs.

Ken Davis - For entrusting me with his Village Hut IGM.
=======================================================================

And to all of my other friends who have gone through my evolution
as a LORD games programmer since February 2002, by testing my new
Lady scripts, and LORD IGM/utility beta compilations, over those
many months. Oh yeah, and most of all, for putting up with my
tendency to write occasionally LONG email messages to them <G>.

DEDICATIONS Section:
-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
Since he created this IGM, it is dedicated to Charlie Wardick.

CHANEDIT.EXE is dedicated to my friends Charlie Wardick and
Jason Brown.

They convinced me, with help from some other long-term LORD
friends, in early 2002 to become a LORD programmer. Jason
didn't want to fix bugs in his LORD Cavern IGM, which I wanted
fixed. So he and others taught me the needed skills to do the
work on Jason's LORD programs myself. Five+ years later, I
now have more LORD programs -- either that I created or that
I adopted -- than any other LORD programmer. I NEVER expected
that to happen back in 2002. I guess no one else saw it coming
either <G>.
------------------------------------------------------------

All of my IGMs are dedicated to Charlie Wardick, who taught me LORD
Pascal programming along with how to use Jimmy Rose's A.N.G.E.L.
BBS door game tool-kit.

Another indirect dedication in all of my ANGEL-based IGMs is to
Jimmy Rose for his assistance with understanding how his A.N.G.E.L.
toolkit works.

1.0  DISCLAIMER:
-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-

This is a BBS game written as a hobby. The only warranty given is
that the program will take up a small amount of disk space on your
computer's hard drive, and will run under all versions of Legend of
the Red Dragon that support DOS LORD IGMs.

I use the LORD v3.55 Player Database Format released with LORD
v3.55 by Seth Robinson in all of my DOS LORD programs. Therefore
I can not say if any of them will work with older version of
DOS LORD, such as v3.50 for example.
------------------------------------------------------------

NO OTHER WARRANTY IS HEREBY EXPRESSED, IMPLIED, OR SUGGESTED.
USE OF THIS PROGRAM IS AT YOUR OWN RISK.

The ChangeLing IS A *FREEWARE* 'IN GAME MODULE' (IGM) FOR LEGEND OF
THE RED DRAGON (DOS LORD).

The CHANEDIT utility is also Freeware.

Info on DOS LORD:
-----------------
    DOS LORD v4.07 was officially released on Jun. 07, 2006.
    None of the 32-bit versions have been officially released.

    v4.08 Betas of LORD were released with ONE compilation in
    late September 2006 by Michael Preslar for DOS LORD,
    LORD/32, LORD for OS/2, and LORD for Linux. Then they were
    no longer available upon request to IGM authors and/or BBS
    sysops, a situation that has not changed since Sept. 2006.

    None of the LORD v4.08 programs have been officially
    released yet, as of late Feb. 2009.

IGM testing notes:
  IGMs are only usable in DOS LORD and in LORD for Windows (LORD/32).
  The 32-bit LORD programs are unable to use DOS LORD IGM programs.

All of my primary IGM testing is done using the November 2009
compilation of LORD v4.08 Beta. No newer compilations are
available for public usage to anyone whatsoever from the
LORD developer Michael Preslar. I also use a Synchronet BBS
setup running LORD v4.07 and MTelnet to make sure each igm
works in a Telnet situation. The new 2009 compilations of
DOS LORD that I and others are using were posted online by
Jason Hud for the benefit of LORD players and BBS sysops.

The 2009 compilations appears to be far more reliable than the
2006 version of LORD that I used for 3+ years until Oct. 2009.
------------------------------------------------------------

  All of my personal IGM development since July 2004 has been done under
  Microsoft Windows XP, Home Edition, Service Packs 2 & 3, using
  Borland Pascal v7.01, in regards to DOS LORD programs. All of
  my LORD/32 programming is done using Virtual Pascal.

  All IGM development since mid-October 2008 has been under MS
  Windows XP Home Service Pack 3.

  ChanEdit Testing: Done using Microsoft Windows XP SP2 and SP3.

  This IGM has been fully tested under LORD v3.55 through v4.07,
  and using the September 2006 compilation of LORD v4.08 Beta.

  The IGM is also being tested using DOS LORD V4.07 in a
  Synchronet BBS setup on my Win-XP system.

IGM Crashes: If you experience a crash while using the IGM, please
send me a capture log of your BBS session which most comm programs
