0.25 Version Update Info:  {Added 05/03/2007}
---------------------------------------------
v2.20: Distributed by Donald Tidmore in Trevor Herndon's name.
This RTE200 patch update fixed the IGM's RunTime Error 200
problems that occurred on systems running CPUs over 200 Mhz
on Pentium II+ systems. It is a fully authorized patch update.
Trevor lost his igms' source code and registration number generator
programs in the mid-1990's when someone broke into his house and
stole his computer system and computer media. Since that time,
all support of Trevor's IGMs RTE200 patch versions has been
handled by me at his request. The igms can not be updated in a
normal manner since no one has the source code. COL220.ZIP was
distributed on Jan. 21, 2002 and has been the official version
of Castle of LORD since then.

It had some drawbacks: Since I could never find anyone with a
registered version of the IGM, it was impossible to distribute
a fully usable IGM that was not crippled. Users could use all
of the IGM events except for The Palace and The Arena. Also it,
like many other IGMs released in the 1990's, does not do proper
boundary checks when it updates a player's most important LORD
stats such as Experience and Gold in Bank. As a result, it will
at times cause various stats to go negative. There is NO way
to fix this particular problem.
----------------------------------------------------------------

v2.30: I got a new version of the IGM that was hex-edited by
Mark Jerome to remove the registration requirement. It has been
tested under DOS LORD v4.08 Beta, on a 2.40 GHz Pentium IV system
that runs Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition, Version 2002, Service
Pack 2. It allows full usage of The Palace and The Arena. It
was officially released on May 14th, 2007 as COL230.ZIP.
Donald Tidmore. May 14th, 2007.

Changes: * Renamed IGM's documentation file to CASTLE23.TXT.
         * Changed time/date stamp of CONFIG.EXE and CASTLE.EXE
to use May 03rd, 2007 information.
         * Renamed CASTLE.EXE to CASTLE23.EXE.
         * Renamed CONFIG.EXE to CLCONFIG.EXE.

*IF* IGM does not work normally during LORD usage, you should
revert to using CASTLE.EXE and CONFIG.EXE file names. Do NOT
rename files CREATED by the IGM, and do NOT rename the
CASTLE.ANS, MONSTER.DAT or KNIGHT.DAT files. Some IGMs are
hard-coded internally to look for and use files named a specific
way, and they won't work probably if they can't find them.
----------------------------------------------------------------

Regarding Sections 4.0 and 5.0, there is NO way to register this
IGM. Trevor's postal address, email address, BBS information,
and Fidonet information are all no longer valid after over 12
years has elapsed since he released Castle of LORD v2.10 in 1995.

In Section 5.0, BBS's that existed in 1995 probably do not exist
any more. BBS's started dying off as people started using the
Internet with the advent of the first web browser from Netscape,
and the release of Microsoft Windows v3.xx versions.

The rest of this file is Trevor's original docs for v2.10.

0.5 Dedication

This IGM goes out to my darling Anastasia...without her, I would be nothing.
This IGM ALSO goes out to Robert Iten, the hacker who THOUGHT he could get
away with cracking my registration scheme...

1.0 Introduction

Well, Violet's Cottage was a REAL success. I was impressed at the amount of
people that were interested enough in Doors to send me money. I would HOPE
that a majority of the people reading this are the same way, but I can't be
sure, so oh well.

1.5 What's new

Well...this is a BUG FIX version...I made gems more expensive in bulk, I
fixed the negative forest fights bug, updated comm drivers, etc.

2.0 Installation

FILES INCLUDED WITH THIS PACKAGE (if some are missing, DON'T RUN IT!):

CASTLE.EXE - The Main executable for Castle of LORD
CONFIG.EXE - The game configuration program
MONSTER.DAT - The monster file for the Arena
CASTLE.ANS - The opening ANSI for the program
CASTLE.DOC - The file you're reading now
KNIGHT.DAT - Knight of the Sacred Tooth Datafile (DO NOT DELETE)
REGISTER.FRM - Your registration form

FILES CREATED BY CASTLE OF LORD

CASTLE.CFG - Configuration file for the IGM
INCASTLE.DAT - Maintenance file

First off, you'll need to do the following to setup your BBS:

Make a directory somewhere where you will store your Castle of LORD
files. UNZIP this archive (or just copy all the files in that dir) into
this directory. Some people have had trouble putting the files in their
LORD dir for some reason, and that is why I recommend a separate dir for
your Castle of LORD files.

Run "CONFIG.EXE" and fill in the appropriate information as follows:

STEP 1

Configure Castle of LORD for your BBS with the "Configure" option on the
main menu of the CONFIG.EXE program.

The trailing backslash problem has been fixed, so you need no longer
worry about entering trailing backslashes after the pathnames.

Once finished configuring, select Install and you should be ready to go!

There you go! You are all ready to run Castle of LORD.

[3.0] Credits

Thanks go out to Scott Baker and the people who reworked his door routines
into what is now DDPLUS 7.0. I LOVE how easy it makes programming, since I
get really tired of calling my BBS up to test my comm routines. Anywho, I
would also like to thank my family, who put up with me during my irritable
moods.

[4.0] Registration

Castle of LORD is a mere $5 to register! That's right, just 5 bucks! Just
send me the cash, and from that day forward, you get free copies of all
updates (free if you're local, or have Internet access).

For information on where to send the registration fee, see "REGISTER.FRM".

Thanks for ALL the support.

BUG Q&A!!!!
-----------
Q. I get a runtime error 002 when I try to get knighted!

A. Make sure you have a file called KNIGHT.DAT in your CASTLE dir! It can
be 0 bytes, but has to exist!

Q. This version doesn't work as well with LORD v3.26a as it did with v3.50!

A. Well, the old one I had to tweak so the deaths in the IGMs would work,
but in v3.50 it was fixed by Seth, so if ya run this with anything earlier,
that death bug will still exist..

Well, that's about it. Thanks for using my program, hope ya like it!
