0.25:    RECENT CHANGES INFO:      {09/08/09}
---------------------------------------------
This version fixes a problem where The Gem Trader v2.60 was
allowing some Gems for Potions trades to cause the LORD stat
being traded for to go negative. It also implements usage of
the JACKBACK.DAT player database backup file. Donald 09/14/09.

All of the new igm code is fully tested as of 09/14/2009.
-----------------------------------------------------------------

* Found glitches where players' LORD potions stats could go
  negative during some Gems for Potions trades. The igm was
  not making sure that it didn't cause either Max Hitpoints,
  Strength, Defense or Charm points to go negative during a
  Potions Trade. This problem I think has been fixed now.

* Temporarily reset IGM to allow up to 32,500 Elixirs per Day
  to be traded by customers.

* This igm now allows up to 20 Visits per day. All of my igms
  have been rewritten to use 1-20 for Max Visits/Day with the
  exception of the ones that involve a Bank (LORD Skeleton,
  Realm of Lore, Kiteria's LORD Bank) or which allow players
  to sleep in them (Hiding In The Shadows, Outlands Tavern,
  and Outlands Skeleton). Those allow up to 25 Visits per Day.

* JACKEDIT: Revised to support Visits variable using 0-20 range.

* Removed Pause from bottom of the Title Screen 09/08/2009.

New Events: I am not planning to add any this year (2009).
This docs file was completely reorganized on Sept. 08, 2009.
--------------------------------------------------------------

12/12/09 Changes: Rewrote IGM code to make sure the IGM will
immediately terminate execution if any of these events occur
during IGM entry sequence:

1) IGM is unable to find its IGM Config File.
2) IGM is unable to find LORD's player.dat file.
3) IGM is unable to find LORD's INFO.<node number> file.
--------------------------------------------------------------

12/15/09: Created and Tested REPAIR module. End user can use
it to completely recreate the GEMTRADE.CFG file without having
to un-install and re-install the IGM into LORD. It has to
verify the LORD and IGM Paths, but doesn't write anything to
LORD's 3rdparty.dat and lognow.txt data files.
Requires v2.61+ Betas.
------------------------------------------------------------

01/17/10: Added Delete Player Record option to JACKEDIT.
Requires v1.21+ betas. Option is usable only in Debug Mode.
============================================================

1.00:    INTRODUCTION SECTION:
-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
  Thanks for trying out my first solo LORD IGM program. I made it
  after spending several months creating and fine-tuning the original
  Gem Trader LADY Scripts: GemTrade.ldy and GemFairy.ldy. GemFairy is
  the part that can only be used with LORD v4.07, or later versions,
  due to the fact that versions of LORD, before v4.07 that use the
  LADY Script engine, did not support the FAIRY LADY script variable.

  ======================= Program Description/Setting:
  You come across a camp in a meadow and see a man working besides
  large kettles near a spring. He's surrounded by hundreds of full
  or empty small bottles, of different colors. When you introduce
  yourself, you discover that he is Peddler Jack, and he is the source
  of all of the magical elixirs sold by the Bartender at the Inn.

  Jack will sell you his Hitpoints, Strength and Defense potions
  at a better rate than the Bartender does. Unlike the Bartender,
  who keeps the Charm potions for his own use, presumably, Peddler Jack
  will also trade you Charm potions. You may also acquire a new Horse
  or Fairy, providing you have enough Gems to do business.

  Each gem that you trade is worth 2 Potions. The IGM grants 1
  FREE Max Hit-Point to a player who enters the IGM with Zero
  gems, and then it sends them back to LORD immediately.
  =============================================================

  Peddler Jack offers a better deal than the LORD Inn's Bartender. He is
  rather stingy. He only gives you ONE Potion for TWO Gems. Jack, now,
  is a much nicer businessman. He sells TWO potions for ONE Gem.

  The ACTUAL number of Potions one can get in a Gems for Potions
  Trade depends on various factors. (1) My IGM has a 5,000 potions
  per Trade limit internally, (as of v2.60), so you can only offer
  up to 2,500 Gems in a Potions Purchase event. (2) The IGM only
  allows players to BUY up to 20,000 Potions per day -- as of
  v2.55's 12/15/07 compilation.

  You can get more Potions during the visit due to the other events
  that grant Potions when you pay Extra Gems for Horse, Fairy, or
  Orphan Kids. Or when a special event runs such as Sexy Samantha.

  Example: You have traded for 19,000 Potions today. You ask to
  trade 2,000 Gems for 4,000 Defense Potions. The IGM will only
  sell you 1,000 Defense Potions, so it charges 500 Gems instead
  of the 2,000 Gems that you offered. Then it sets the Potions Ban
  in place, preventing you from doing any more Potions Trading
  until the next LORD Game day occurs.
================================================================

  LORD was designed to only sell Max HitPoints, Strength and Defense
  Potions in the LORD Inn. The Bartender does not sell Charm Potions.
  But Peddler Jack and Doofus the Gnome will sell you all four types
  of Potions - if you can afford them.

  The Gems/Potions Exchange Rate: As of 12/16/2006, it is now ONE gem
  for TWO Potions. If you want a better deal, visit my Doofus the Gnome
  v2.00 LORD IGM. Doofus sells players THREE Potions for ONE Gem.
  That is the way Gordon Lewicky designed his LORD LADY Script to work,
  and the IGM uses his original concepts for Doofus's behavior.

  About my Purchase Limits. Some may not like them, but they exist to
  prevent my IGM from upsetting a closely fought LORD Game where some
  players know what IGMs can do to enhance their LORD stats, and others
  don't. Brand new players in LORD have to LEARN things. Some of that
  relates to learning what IGMs can do. Or what they CAN'T do as well.

  Doofus the Gnome is also in development currently, but not
  officially offered for BBS usage yet. I will do that, along
  with this IGM, once I am able to get The Changeling v2.40 and
  The Nice Hag v3.40 igms officially released and distributed
  online.

  =================================================================

3.0:  THE IGM Limits:
==================================================================
  Most of these apply to the Gems for Potions Trade events.
  -------------------------------------------------------------
  1) You can only offer up to 2,500 Gems at a time for Potions.

  The IGM, as of v2.5x betas, uses a 5,000 Potions per Trade
  limit. Using the 2 Potions for 1 Gem formula results in the
  2,500 Gems per Potions Trade limit, listed above.

  Offering NEGATIVE Gems in some events leads to punishment. Offering
  NEGATIVE gems in a Potions Trade just gets you thrown out of the IGM.

  Same deal with offering ZERO Gems is in place with Potions Trades.
  Doing so wastes Jack's time, so he gets rid of you promptly.

  2) If you have NO Gems, then you can't do ANYTHING in this IGM, so you
     get sent back to LORD. This is a GEMS-based IGM after all.

  3) The IGM only allows players to make up to 7 Purchases per Visit.
     Allowing more purchases caused the IGM to crash when it was
     first being developed back in 2002.

  4) This limit is sysop-configurable during IGM Configuration.
     Players are limited to a maximum of 32,500 (20,000 normally)
     potions purchases per day. The actual value is configurable
     by the end-user/sysop, using a 1 to 32,500 range.

  5) You are not allowed to do a Gems for Potions Trade if the
     chosen stat is already maxed out at 32,000 points. The IGM
     as of v2.66, has been rewritten so that potions trades
     will no longer cause either Max Hitpoints, Strength,
     Defense, or Charm Points to go negative. That gremlin was
     found by accident in early September, and is the main reason
     this IGM is back in production again. (Added 09/09/09)
  -------------------------------------------------------------

  I don't allow someone to set the limit to ZERO for any reason.

  Players are NOT allowed in normal Gems for Potions Trades to
  exceed the Daily Potions Trade Limit. The only exception is
  that the Special Menu events - Buying Horses, Fairies, Children,
  Saddles, or HorseShoe Sets -- can result in the player gaining
  Elixirs if they pay Extra Gems for Horse, Fairy, or Children.

  Some random events such as getting visited by Samantha can
  also grant the player additional potions. Those specific
  situations are not covered by the Daily Potions Trade Limit.

  5) Players may visit Peddler Jack's camp up to 20 times per day.
  After they've reached 20, no further trips are allowed until the
  next LORD game day. The actual number of visits/day is selected
  by end-user/sysop during IGM installation, or using IGM Configuration.

  The Gem Trader v2.60 used a limit of 10 Visits per day maximum,
  which has been changed to 20 visits per day in v2.66.

  --------------------------------------------------------------------
  Note to reader. For reading this file, I'll share a "cheat" with you.

  The JACKEDIT utility allows Visits counter to be reset to any value
  between 0 and 20. So a sysop can grant players the ability to revisit
  the IGM additional times in a day, if they wish to do so.

  All of the other Player Database variables concerning IGM Limits
  can similarly be reset by the user using JACKEDIT.

  If you want to take someone out of Potions Ban status, don't
  figure to change the Potions Traded amount to something below
  20,000. If that value isn't changed, the IGM will reactivate
  the Potions Trading Ban automatically the next time it is
  used by the user on the current LORD game day.
  ---------------------------------------------------------------------

  6) Regarding Adoptions, there are two limiting factors, which are
  both sysop-configurable, as of Aug. 31, 2005.  Factor 1 is the IGM's
  Adoptions per Purchase limit. It is limited to 780, as of Nov. 17, 2006.

  Factor 2 is the Adoptions per Day Limit, which is limited to 16,000
  Adoptions per Day, as of Dec. 28, 2006. Each Orphan Child costs 40
  Gems. If player has less than 40 Gems, then they are NOT allowed
  to use the Adopt Children Special Deals Menu option.

  12/28/2006: Changed IGM's max Adoptions/Day Limit from 9,000 to 16,000,
  so that is fully compatible in how it handles Adoptions with my Pawn
  Shop and Doofus the Gnome IGMs.
  ======================================================================

  During an Adoptions Gem Trade, the IGM will limit the number of kids
  the player can buy based on these factors: (A) How many Gems they have.
  (B) How many Adoptions they've already done that day. (C) The Adoptions
  per Purchase limit. (D) The Adoptions per Day Limit. And (E) How many
  Kids they already have.

  One can buy Orphan Children two ways: Single Adoption and Multiple
  Adoptions. Access to Adoptions Event is denied using the Kids Ban,
  once player has 32,000 Kids, or they reach the Adoptions/Day Limit.

  Lastly, Adoptions are not allowed when the player can't afford to buy
  a single child. That happens when they have less than 40 Gems on hand.
  ======================================================================

  (7) As of 11/30/06, this IGM does not limit the number of Horses and
  Fairies the players can get each day. But optimally, the limit is
  10 Fairies and/or 10 Horses. Why? Because you can only visit the
  IGM up to 10 times in a day, and you can ONLY have ONE Horse and/or ONE
  Fairy at a time in LORD.

  My IGM has a sense of humor expressed on behalf of the Fairy and Horse.

  If a moron tries to buy a Fairy, when they HAVE one, they are punished
  by the "Fairy Lightning Bolt" injury event, and ejected from the IGM.

  Similarly, the "Horse Bite" injury event occurs when morons try to
  buy a Horse, when they already have one. And they get sent back to LORD.
  =======================================================================

  (8) * Regarding the IGM's Horse Supplies Menu, which is accessed from
  the Special Deals Menu, the player must have a Horse in order to gain
  access to the Menu. It currently sells two items: Saddles and
  HorseShoes Sets. Each item costs 10 Gems, and is worth 4 Forest
  Fights. You can only buy one at a time.

  * The IGM uses internal limits of 25 Saddle purchases per day, and
    25 HorseShoe Sets purchases per day. Once a limit is reached, that
    Horse Supply Item will not be available for purchase again until
    the next LORD game day occurs.

  * The IGM does not use Config File limits for Saddles, Horseshoes,
  Fairies, or Horses. I tried their usage for awhile and eventually
  decided the IGM did not really need them.

  The primary Stats screen, Stats Summary screen, and the on-screen
  and disk file Potions Traders Info Listing reports all cover adoptions.
  They also track daily purchases of Horses, Fairies, Saddles, HorseShoes
  Sets, and Elixir Potions.
  ========================================================================

Info regarding Cheating and Sexy Samantha:
====================================================================
  1. If you cheat, you are thrown out of the IGM immediately.

      In the Potions Purchase event, entering a ZERO or NEGATIVE value
      for the # of Gems Offered for potions results in immediate
      eviction from the IGM. Offering ZERO gems in other events also
      usually results in the player being sent back to LORD.

      Trying to buy a Horse or Fairy, when you have one, leads
      to punishment by the critter, and you get sent back to
      LORD immediately.

   2. When the Sexy Samantha event runs (it is done randomly when
      you buy a Fairy), she will grant the player 2 Skill Use
      Points. Players can only get up to 10 Skill Use Points
      per day in the IGM. The IGM will not raise a Skill Use
      Points LORD stat above 100 points.
===============================================================

3.20: The Milk Cow Event: Implemented in December 2006:
==========================================================================
  Dec. 12, 2006: Effective immediately, the IGM has one random
  event that occurs at a 20% chance rate at the start of the IGM
  Exit sequence. The event can only run when the player has a
  Horse. When it executes, player is informed that an enemy wizard
  blasted him/her with a spell bomb. Its result was to knock them
  unconscious for awhile. They are awakened by Peddler Jack who
  then sends them on their way back to LORD's Town.

  When the player reaches LORD (in the dialogue), everyone is
  laughing at him/her. A friend tells them the reason is that
  the warrior looks so darn silly riding a red Holstein milk cow
  into town. Plus, the critter must be milked immediately. So
  being a smart warrior, the player gets a young lady to do the
  milking. Its not dignified for a warrior to milk cows, you see.

  Now the player loses 10% of their Charm due to the embarrassment.
  But it is counter-balanced by a reasonable amount of Gold that
  the player gets from selling most of the milk around town. The
  event ends with the warrior happily going to make fun of the
  latest victim of the prank-playing wizard.

  I MAY eventually incorporate this concept into the LADY
  script version of The Gem Trader, along with the Horse
  Supplies Menu - Saddles and Horseshoes Sets - events.

  This may be obvious, but, the player's Milk Cow event is
  temporary in effect. The player always has their Horse. The
  IGM never takes it away from the player in the event. It just
  gets magically transformed for a short while. There is no
  lasting effects, other than the Charm Loss, and the Gold
  Coins obtained from selling the Milk. And of course, the
  event gets recorded in the day's LORD News File for everyone
  to know about <G>.
  ----------------------------------------------------------

  It is hoped that players will get a kick of the "prank" and
  look forward to seeing it occur to others. If it turns out
  that people hate the idea, I will be willing to take it out
  of the IGM in its next development cycle.
===========================================================

3.40: The Sexy Samantha story-line and Event:
=========================================================================
  I created a new LORD IGM in early 2005, named Kiteria's Lord Bank.
  Samantha as long-time users of this IGM know is Peddler Jack's daughter.
  She is single, extremely sexy, and is way more beautiful than Violet is.
  She is the IGM's banker, and she interacts with all customers.

  The IGM only allows her to flirt with MALE players since I do NOT condone
  lesbian/homosexual crap in my programs. The FEMALE players get to flirt
  with the IGM's Cashier, Gordon. If you want more info, see the docs
  for that IGM.

  She interacts occasionally with players in THE GEM TRADER, and grants
  TWO Skill Use Points when that event occurs. But should the player
  encounter her multiple times in a day, the IGM limits the Skill Use
  Points reward to a maximum of 10 points per day.

  Her Bank protects investors Gold and Gems from embezzlement and
  from burglary. There is simply NO way for anyone using another
  LORD IGM or LORD itself, to "break into" this bank. It is 100%
  burglar-proof. The IGM was designed as a tribute to my long-time
  friend Suzanne "Kiteria" Franklin.

  During IGM Installation, the Gem Trader IGM advertises the Kiteria's
  LORD Bank. It tells warriors about Jack's daughter becoming a sexy
  banker. It seemed appropriate for a daddy to send customers in the
  direction of his only daughter.

  Sorry guys, you can't marry her. She is forever single. LORD does
  not recognize marriages to IGM's NPCs. It only recognizes three
  types of marriage: Player-Player, Player-Violet, and Player-Seth Able.
  =============================================================================

  The "Sexy Samantha" event was added to v2.00 at the ending of the
  Fairy Purchase. It is shown randomly on 50/50 basis - when player
  pays Extra Gems for Fairy.

  The LADY Script version of Gem Fairy Trade was updated in 2004
  to randomly execute the script's Samantha story event. It does
  not do a lot, but the player does get a small reward.

  Once updates to the IGM's Special Deals section work properly in
  the IGM, they will be coded into the Gem Trader LADY Script, if
  it is possible to do so. The script may always have different
  Gem prices for the services it offers. I don't plan on making
  everything the IGM does work similarly in the script, and vice-versa.

  There is no timetable for me to do any serious changes to how
  the LADY Script version of The Gem Trader. I do not do any
  regular LADY scripts programming any more, and have no plans
  to ever create any more brand new LADY scripts.
  ==============================================================

  Summary of the basic idea of "Sexy Samantha": Note: Some parts
  of the concept have never been incorporated into an IGM.
  -------------------------------------------------------
  Basically she is a knock-dead gorgeous young woman who is always
  either wanting to gossip about men with the lady warriors, or she
  wants to jump the male warriors, and have her way with them. Yes,
  Samantha is quite a handful. Consider yourself VERY Lucky if you
  meet her and survive to talk about it. Some of her victims, they
  say were so weakened that they became easy prey for the Red Dragon.
  (And some did NOT get resurrected the next day.)

  Currently, she spends her time managing her bank. Drop by it
  and enjoy her company.

  Benefits: 1: Neither LORD or any other IGM can be used to rob this
  IGM's Bank.  It is burglar-proof and embezzler-proof.

  2. Unlike LORD, this IGM does NOT reset your Bank Gold account to
  ZERO following your victory over the Red Dragon.

  3. As of late 2006, Kiteria's LORD Bank now offers 5% Gems Interest
  in addition to the 10% Gold Interest.

  4. Bank customers are allowed to transfer Gold and Gems, based on
  reasonable limits, to other users of the IGM.

  5. Male players get to Flirt with Samantha one time per day. Female
  players get to Flirt with Gordon, the Cashier, one time per day. By
  switching Sex, players can flirt with both of them each day.

  See the section on my LORD Apps for a listing of the available
  versions of Kiteria's LORD Bank. It is at the end of GEMTRADE.TXT.
  ===================================================================

3.60: Notes about the CONFIG process. 11/20/2007:
====================================================
  When you use GEMTRADE CONFIG, it does NOT allow you edit the
  Lord Path, IGM Path, Sysop Name, or BBS Name settings. Its
  only purpose is for changing the Sysop Handle, Max Visits/Day
  Limit, Max Potions Trade/Day Limit, Max Adoptions/Day Limit,
  and Adoptions/Purchase Limit to new values.

  It will not overwrite the current IGM config file if you
  choose to not use the new values, when prompted.
  -------------------------------------------------------------

  The format of the GEMTRADE.CFG file looks like this based
  on my system's parameters. There are nine lines inside:

C:\INTERNET\LORD\                  <-- LORD Path
C:\BP7\GEMTRADE\UNITS\             <-- IGM directory path
DONALD TIDMORE                     <-- Sysop's Name
BELGARION                          <-- Sysop's LORD Name
CASTLE CAMELOT                     <-- BBS Name
20 <-- Max Visits per Day
32500 <-- Max Potions per Day
16000 <-- Max Adoptions per Day
780 <-- Max Orphans per Trade
------------------------------------------------------------

  Gem Trader v2.66 Beta Configuration Process:
  ======================================
  1) Run GEMTRADE Config. Follow on-screen instructions.

  -- Max Visits per Day. Range is 1-20, default is 10.

  -- Potions Purchases per Day. Range is 1-32,500,
     with default value of 5,000.

     ** The normal limit is 20,000 potions per day. The IGM
     is set up to use 32,500 temporarily as of 09/08/2009 to
     aid in retesting of old/new programming code.

  -- Sysop's Lord name - Also called Sysop Handle sometimes.

  -- Max Adoptions per Day. Players are allowed to adopt up to a
     maximum of 16,000 Kids each day. Adoptions are allowed
     during each visit until the player reaches the Kids per
     Day trade limit, or they have 32,000 or more Children. Or
     they reach a point where they can't afford a single Child.

  -- Adoptions per Purchase Limit. The IGM allows users to make
     up to 780 adoptions per purchase.

  -- Unless you re-install the game, you have to manually update
     3RDPARTY.DAT to the current IGM version data. Which is now:

            The Gem Trader v2.66 Beta

     If you have not been using version data, then the changes in
     beta numbers is not something you need to deal with in 3RDPARTY.DAT.
  ======================================================================

  All of my personal IGM development since July 2004 has been done under
  Microsoft Windows XP, using Borland Pascal v7.01, in regards to DOS
  LORD programs. All of my LORD/32 programming is done using Virtual
  Pascal. Since NO ONE ever shows any interest in my LORD/32
  programs, they are both in full inactive status currently.

  If you have more than one LORD game, be sure to double-check values
  in GEMTRADE.CFG so that you know which game you are installing the
  IGM into.
  ====================================================================

  Everyone using the IGM gets to view the IGM Usage Reports on-screen,
  with two exceptions. Those players who have exceeded the Max
  Visits per Day Limit, or who get caught cheating, do NOT get to
  see those Usage Reports.

  The primary Stats screen was completely rewritten in December
  2006, along with the Stats Summary screen.

  Version 2.61 Beta's config file has NINE data lines. The last
  line is for the IGM's Kids per Purchase Limit.
--------------------------------------------------------------

  This IGM is NOT usable if you don't have a GEMTRADE.CFG file.
  It will automatically return directly to LORD if it is run
  and it can't find its IGM Configuration file.

  There are no limits on the number of Horses, Fairies, Saddles
  or Horseshoe Sets that can be bought each day.
===============================================================

3.75: Updating to version 2.61 Beta:
===============================================================
  If you are doing a brand new installation, skip this section.
  This is ONLY for an UPDATE process from an earlier version.

  Everyone is to follow these instructions. With this IGM, they
  are quite simple, since there was no Player Database structure
  change.

  * Obtain GEMTWORK.ZIP and JACKEDIT.ZIP from one of the official
  distribution sites, or from me directly via email or Fidonet
  mail request.

  Copies posted on my web-site of IGM beta archives are not
  always up-to-date. So when an IGM is in beta development, I
  advise that you always get the most recent version of an IGM
  from me directly. That way I can advise you on any important
  facts related to using the newest betas.

  Everything that is inside JACKEDIT.ZIP is inside GEMTWORK.ZIP.
  With exception of my beta work notes file, all of the files
  that are bundled in GEMTWORK.ZIP are released officially in
  the GEMTRxxx.ZIP archive.

  1) Unzip the contents of GEMTWORK.ZIP and JACKEDIT.ZIP into
  your IGM directory, using Overwrite with New Files mode.
     E.g. Pkunzip -n GEMTWORK or Wzunzip -n GEMTWORK

  This is MANDATORY. Do not do IGM updates while LORD is
  running, under any circumstance. If you are a BBS sysop,
  disable *ALL* access to LORD while you update an IGM. There
  are simply too many ways for "Mr. Murphy" to screw with you
  if you don't do this.

  And obviously you should never try to update a LORD IGM while
  someone is running it, which is another good reason to make
  sure LORD is NOT running while doing this update process.

  The update to version 1.21+ betas of the JACKEDIT.EXE Player
  Database Editor is taken care of when you do step #1.

  3) Manually edit your LORD 3RDPARTY.DAT file. The IGM entry
  needs to refer to v2.66 Beta, unless you choose to not use
  version numbers with IGMs in the file. I advise using the
  MS-DOS EDIT, QEdit, or Windows Notepad/Wordpad programs for
  the editing. Save the file, in ASCII Text format.

  That concludes the update process. Resume normal usage of
  the IGM in your DOS LORD Game.
  -----------------------------------------------------------

  ** Players can only have ONE Horse at a time, and ONE Fairy at
  a time. Players can only have a maximum of 32,000 Kids. Likewise,
  Max HitPoints, Strength Points, Defense Points, and Charm Points
  are limited to a maximum of 32,000 points. Those limits are
  imposed by LORD itself. LORD has a tendency to crash when it
  encounters values that are outside a LORD stat's normal range.

  ** Players MUST have a Horse to use the Horse Supplies Menu. All
  items (Saddles, HorseShoes Sets) are sold ONE at a time in that menu.
  =====================================================================

4.00: Update Plans: No timetable. Will do them as the mood strikes me.
========================================================================

  Reserved for a Later development period:
  ========================================
  * Limiting the Mad Cow Event to once a day occurrence. That will
    be done during the IGM's next development cycle.

  * Horse Accessories: Besides Saddles and Horseshoes, which were
    implemented in 2005, the Horse Supplies Menu will eventually also
    offer one or more of these items: 1) Apples, 2) Honey and Oats
    Feed Bags, and 3) Bridles. Saddle Blankets is one other possible
    addition.

  * If someone comes up with a new concept for the IGM, they can send
    it to me, and I will consider it/them for inclusion.

  * I no longer have any intention of making a LORD/32 version
    of this igm because NOT ONE person has ever shown an interest
    in providing usability feedback for Free World II.

                 name, BBS name, and LORD directory path.
    ## New IGM Config file put into use on Jan. 18, 2006. ##

* JACKTIME.DAT - v2.10: - Used to keep track of change in Day, Month
                 or Year, so IGM knows internally when to reset its
                 data files for a new day's game usage.

* JACKPLAY.DAT - v2.51+: - Binary player database. Tracks all activity
                 inside IGM by every player, and will be used to
                 control whether player can buy more potions, once
                 they reach the established Daily Potions purchase
                 limit. ## Usage implemented on Nov. 20th, 2007.

* JACK-USE.TXT - v2.20 - Disk file listing content of JACKPLAY.DAT.
                 Created automatically when IGM is used by sysop or
                 the end-user. Created when GEMTRADE REPORT command
                 is entered from DOS Prompt. Req'd: JACKPLAY.DAT file.
                 Contains three IGM usage reports.

* JACKEDIT.CFG - Created when JACKEDIT.EXE is first used.
                 Config file contains path to IGM database file.

* JACKBACK.DAT - v2.50+:  Implemented usage 12-19-2006.  Backup of
                 the IGM's JACKPLAY.DAT player database file. For
                 use whenever IGM is running and JACKPLAY.DAT
                 can't be found, and the IGM needs to recreate it.

                 Requires v2.50's official version program or
                 Gem Trader's v2.51+ betas.

  ASL.TXT - File provided by Jimmy Rose granting permission
                 to others to use his ANGEL Toolkit and my IGM's
                 source code to make their own ANGEL-based IGMs.
====================================================================

4.50:  INSTALLATION:
-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
    Sept. 2009: Started work on IGM again after finding some
    glitches that caused Max Hitpoints, Strength, Defense,
    and Charm Points to go negative during some Gems for Potions
    Trades. Switched to v2.61 Beta on Sept. 08th, 2009.
    ----------------------------------------------------------

    http://camelot.legendarydragons.com/IGM-Beta/gemtwork.zip (Beta)

    Official URLS for The Gem Trader v2.60:
    ---------------------------------------
    http://www.filegate.net/camelot/lordfile/gemtr260.zip
    http://camelot.legendarydragons.com/LordApps/gemtr260.zip
    ============================================================

    This IGM has not been officially released yet, so everone
    is to use the GEMTWORK.ZIP and JACKEDIT.ZIP archives.
    ------------------------------------------------------------

    1. Unzip GEMTWORK.ZIP into a LORD sub-directory, or into main
       LORD directory. As long as no other IGM uses GEMTRADE.* name,
       it will co-exist with other LORD IGMs without any problem.
       The Docs files can be renamed, if needed, if there is any
       file-name conflict.

       Run GEMTRADE CONFIG and select the values you want.

       Do NOT run GEMTRADE INSTALL unless you are doing a BRAND
       NEW IGM installation. Or you have un-installed the IGM,
       and are doing a re-installation.

    3. From DOS Prompt, type: GEMTRADE INSTALL

       Follow on-screen instructions, and IGM will be installed into
       your LORD game. IGM announces itself in LOGNOW.TXT, and adds
       its entry lines to 3RDPARTY.DAT. That concludes installation.

                                IGM Removal:
    1. Change to where you installed the IGM. Type: GEMTRADE REMOVE
       Follow instructions, and IGM will be removed from 3RDPARTY.DAT,
       and the GEMTRADE.CFG file will be deleted.

    2. Delete the gem*.* files unless you think you may want to keep
       them around. That concludes IGM removal process. Also delete
       files like JACKTIME.DAT, JACK-USE.TXT, JACKEDIT.CFG, JACKBACK.DAT,
       and JACKPLAY.DAT, unless you plan to re-install the IGM later.

    The Un-install process will ask you if you wish to delete
    data files. If you confirm with a Yes response, then you
    have to choose to delete each data file individually. I felt
    this was the best way to do the un-installation process.
============================================================

    I only support the CURRENT Version of an IGM. In this case,
    I only provide support for v2.66 Beta of The Gem Trader. This
    applies to ALL users of The Gem Trader LORD IGM.

    * Obtain GEMTWORK.ZIP from one of the sources on the Internet,
      preferably one of the sites listed in this file. Or you
      can request the file from me via Email or Fidonet echo mail.

      On Fidonet, you can reach me in the DoorWare echo, DoorGames
      echo, or LORD echo, or via NetMail. I also use a few other
      BBS echoes such as BBS Carnival and Pascal.

      To be sure you have the most current beta, or official version,
      always check with me.

-----------------------------
Special Note about the Prompt Dialog Boxes. If you are using
a mouse, just click on a prompt option such as YES. If you're
using keyboard commands, ALT-Y responds to YES prompts, and
ALT-N responds to the NO Prompts. To use a CANCEL prompt,
though, you WILL have to use the Mouse to select those.
=========================================================

The LADY Scripts: If you want them, they are all stored inside
my dgt-lady.zip file. Along with scripts by my friends Michael
Everett, Dan Stovall, and Gordon Lewicky.

Following his death in July 2005, I assumed authorship and
support of all LADY scripts created by Gordon Lewicky.

    http://camelot.legendarydragons.com/Scripts/dgt-lady.zip
==============================================================

Minus LORD color codes, which in general I personally don't use
much myself, this is what the IGM command lines in 3RDPARTY.DAT
should look like. Each person installs programs their own way,
so your directory path will usually be different:

C:\INTERNET\LORD\IGMs\GEMTRADE.EXE /N* /GC:\INTERNET\LORD
THE GEM TRADER v2.66 Beta

The actual IGM Path and LORD path values will be different for
most users. But the IGM command line MUST look like the example.

The actual description entry in 3RDPARTY.DAT will contain
LORD color codes. They can be changed to your own preference.

You can have version data or omit it as you wish.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
Note: While using this IGM, you may NOT rename any of these files:
       GEMTRADE.CFG, JACKBACK.DAT, JACKTIME.DAT, JACKPLAY.DAT,
       GEMTRADE.EXE, JACKEDIT.EXE, and JACKEDIT.CFG.

       Renaming an executable program can sometimes cause it to
       malfunction, or it might refuse to run at all.

       Renaming JACK-USE.TXT will not hurt anything, but should not
       be done except to make backups of the usage reports file.

       Renaming files will result in IGM usage problems, or keep the
       IGM from working at all. Plus, doing so is a violation of the
       conditions for obtaining technical support. I do not promise
       to provide support to people who disregard these directions.
======================================================================

REQUIREMENTS:
  1. Any version of DOS LORD that supports IGMs. Testing was done
     with versions 3.55 through v4.08 Beta.

     The IGM probably is not usable with really old versions of
     LORD such as v3.26, or v3.50, for two examples.

  2. DOS 6.x or later versions. Probably works with DOS v3.xx forward
     as well, but I can't say for sure.

  3. IGM is usable whether LORD is registered or not. NONE of my
     IGMs will EVER change your LORD registration status.
--------------------------------------------------------------------

IGM Programs Testing:
=====================
    LORD Lady Scripts, Gemtrade.ldy and GemFairy.ldy, which this IGM
    is based upon, are usable only with LORD 4.05pb, 4.06, 4.07,
    or v4.08 Beta.

    GemFairy.ldy is only usable under DOS LORD v4.07 or v4.08 Beta.

    WARNING: GemFairy.ldy, Gemtrade.ldy and Gnome.ldy are NOT usable
    with *ANY* of the 32-bit LORD v4.07 betas. I have only done testing
    of my LADY Scripts with LORD for Windows (LORD/32), and its LADY
    Script engine chokes on the @PROMPTN LADY script command that the
    LADY scripts all use. This situation has not been resolved yet.

    To best of my knowledge, none of the LADY Script engine problems
    have been fixed in LORD/32 v4.08 Beta, as of late December 2006.

    The scripts do not cover Saddles or Horseshoe Sets, and
    I won't promise that they ever will. If anyone ever asks
    for them to be added, I would consider doing that though.

Note: I no longer spend time working on my LADY Scripts. No one
ever shows any interest in them, and they all work properly as
they are currently written in both DOS LORD and LORD/32.
-----------------------------------------------------------------

    The Gem Trader LORD IGM is tested under DOS LORD v4.06, 4.07,
    and v4.08 Beta by myself, and with earlier LORD versions by
    various friends.

    Testing has been done using all versions of Microsoft Windows,
    starting with Windows 95, and ending with Windows XP, using
    current v4.0x versions of Legend of the Red Dragon.

Primary Testing: Done under Microsoft Windows XP SP1 and SP2.

    Stats Summary screen skips info on Horse/Fairy status, Skill Points
    status, and Skill Use Points status.

    Note: Stats screen gives accurate reporting of Skill points and
    Skill use points when they exceed 40, unlike LORD itself. If a
    Skill is 40+ points, the word (MASTERED) is shown beside it.

SPECIAL THANKS TO:       Revised 11/20/2007:
-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-

Gary Hartzell - For giving me feedback, support, and friendship.
                  And especially for encouraging me to become an LORD
                  IGMs author when I was considering it in May 2002.

Jason Brown - For entrusting me with his LORD IGMs and utilities
                  as their co-author and maintainer.
                  Also for several long years of LORD friendship.

Charlie Wardick - My primary programming teacher. For over a year
                  of training in how to write LADY scripts in a
                  logical manner, and then in relearning Pascal
                  language and usage of Turbo/Borland Pascal.

Chris MacPherson - For letting me work on his Pawn Shop IGM, and
                   for giving it to me as my own program in 2006.

Stephen Gibbs - For his help in prior years with various igms,
                   such as The Gem Trader v2.00.

Kenneth Padgett - For giving me his Hiding in the Shadows IGM.

Mike Ciesiensky - For giving me his Turgeon's House IGM.

Jay Hodges - For various help with my igms over time, etc.

Dennis Collins - For his help with Outlands Tavern, and with
                   various other IGMs that I have written.

Daryl Stout - For his long years of friendship, and in memory
                   of his wife Janice who died in early 2007.

And to all of my other friends who have gone through my evolution
as a LORD games programmer since February 2002, by testing my new
Lady scripts, and LORD IGM/utility beta compilations, over those
many months. Oh yeah, and most of all, for putting up with my
tendency to write occasionally LONG email messages to them <G>.

Paul Romine, Christopher Gosse, Dave Barton, Daryl Stout,
Michael Everett, and a few others.

DEDICATIONS Section:
-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-

JACKEDIT.EXE: Is dedicated to the memory of Christopher Reeve
who died in early 2005. When people think of Superman, they
should always remember the man who truly was one in his battle
to recover from paralysis. He never gave up in his fight to
learn how to walk again, until the day that LORD Jesus called
him home to Heaven. And he inspired thousands of people who
suffer from Lou Gehrig's disease and other forms of paralysis
to never give up hope.
-------------------------------------------------------------

GEMTRADE.EXE's Dedication History:
====================================
Version 2.00 was dedicated to Bryan Turner and Suzanne Franklin.

Versions 2.10 and 2.20 were re-dedicated to Charlie Wardick
and Michael Everett. It remained dedicated to Bryan Turner
and Suzanne Franklin.

Version 2.50's entire development cycle was dedicated in memory
of my deceased friend Gordon Lewicky, following his death in
early July 2005.
------------------------------

Version 2.60 Dedications:
This igm is now primarily dedicated in memory of Gordon Lewicky,
who died in July 2006; and in memory of Janice Stout, who died
in late April 2007. Secondary dedications are still in effect
for Suzanne Franklin, Bryan Turner, Charlie Wardick, and Michael
Everett.

Janice was a dear friend, as was Gordon. Both of them, along
with Janice's husband Daryl Stout, helped me a lot over the
years in the development of The Gem Trader IGM.

Gordon helped me greatly in the development of this IGM, and
before that in the development of the GemTrade.ldy and
GemFairy.ldy scripts that this IGM is based upon. For that
reason, this IGM will ALWAYS be dedicated to his friendship.
------------------------------------------------------------

The Gem Trader was the first LORD IGM that I created on my own,
based upon the LADY Script version. I dedicated the IGM over
time to five friends: Suzanne Franklin, Bryan Turner, Charlie
Wardick, Michael Everett, and Gordon Lewicky.

Secondary dedication was added to Title Screen in mid-December
2006 for the IGM in honor of my friend Gordon Lewicky.

The IGM is indirectly dedicated to everyone who has helped with
The Gem Trader's development over the years by being a beta tester.

All of my IGMs are dedicated to Charlie Wardick, who taught me LORD
Pascal programming along with how to use Jimmy Rose's A.N.G.E.L.
BBS door game tool-kit.

Another indirect dedication in all of my ANGEL-based IGMs is to
Jimmy Rose for his assistance with understanding how his A.N.G.E.L.
toolkit works.

IGM Support Notes:  Rewrote 12/06/2006:

I only provide support for this LORD IGM in the DOS LORD Game.
===============================================================

DISCLAIMER:
-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-

This is a BBS game written as a hobby. The only warranty given is
that the program will take up a small amount of disk space on your
computer's hard drive, and will run under all versions of Legend of
the Red Dragon that support DOS LORD IGMs.

I use the LORD v3.55 Player Database Format released with LORD
v3.55 by Seth Robinson in all of my DOS LORD programs. Therefore
I can not say if any of them will work with older version of
DOS LORD, such as v3.50 for example.
------------------------------------------------------------

Note: The LADY Scripts version of The Gem Trader are usable only
with versions 4.05pb - 4.08 Beta of LORD. They are also usable
with the 32-bit Windows version of LORD - either LORD/32 v4.07
Beta or v4.08 Beta.

You can NOT run GemFairy.ldy by itself. It *HAS* to be run by
the GemTrade.ldy script in order for it to operate correctly.
=================================================================

NO OTHER WARRANTY IS HEREBY EXPRESSED, IMPLIED, OR SUGGESTED.
USE OF THIS PROGRAM IS AT YOUR OWN RISK.

The Gem Trader IS A *FREEWARE* 'IN GAME MODULE' (IGM) FOR
LEGEND OF THE RED DRAGON (DOS LORD).

The JACKEDIT utility is also Freeware.
============================================================

Info on DOS LORD:
----------------------
    DOS LORD v4.07 was officially released on Jun. 07, 2006.
    None of the 32-bit versions have been officially released.

    v4.08 Betas of LORD were released with ONE compilation in

LORDMENU Information:    {Added 09/08/2009}
-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-

The LordMenu program is currently developed and supported by me.
I took over its development and support when it stopped working
correctly in 2006, and needed to be fixed. Which was done with
assistance from Dennis Collins. LordMenu v1.40 was officially
released on July 29th, 2007. Distribution was done on July
31th, 2007. And LordMenu v1.50 was offically released on
August 29th, 2008.

    February 2009 since the original release archive contained

IGM testing notes:
------------------------
  IGMs are only usable in DOS LORD and in LORD for Windows (LORD/32).
  The 32-bit LORD programs are unable to use DOS LORD IGM programs.

  All of my LORD IGMs testing is done using DOS LORD v4.08 Beta,
  which was briefly available publicly for a short time in late
  September 2006.

  All of my personal IGM development since July 2004 has been done under
  Microsoft Windows XP, Home Edition, Service Pack 2, using Borland Pascal
  v7.01, in regards to DOS LORD programs. All of my LORD/32 programming
  is done using Virtual Pascal.

  All IGM development since mid-October 2008 has been under MS
  Windows XP Home Service Pack 3.

  JACKEDIT Testing: Done using Microsoft Windows XP SP2 and SP3.

  This IGM has been fully tested under LORD v3.55 through v4.07,
  and using the September 2006 compilation of LORD v4.08 Beta.

-----
  This IGM will also be tested using DOS LORD V4.07 in a
  Synchronet BBS setup on my Win-XP system, when I get around
  to installing it in that LORD game.

Reporting IGM Crashes:
----------------------------
If you experience a crash while using the IGM, please send me
a capture log of your BBS session which most comm programs and
Telnet clients are able to generate. Zip it up in an archive
using Winzip, PKzip or some other ZIP-compatible utility, and
send it to me at donaldtidmore@comcast.net (or gtidmore@hiwaay.net).

Also include copy of the IGM's data files such as JACK-USE.TXT,
GEMTRADE.CFG, JACKTIME.DAT, JACKBACK.DAT, JACKPLAY.DAT, and
JACKEDIT.CFG.  Copies of the LORD game's play*.dat, log*.txt,
and error.log files, if included, will help with analyzing what
caused your IGM crash.
==========================================================================

Some Notes from Version 2.20:

  * Charm points granted for overpayment of Gems in Horse/Fairy purchase
    are now counted against the daily potions purchase limit.

  * Activated IGM's CONFIG process so that end-user/sysop can enter
    Max Visits per Day, Max Potions Limit, and Sysop Lord Name values.
    Added Kids/Day Limit value configuration in June 2003.

    The same values are to be entered when using GEMTRADE INSTALL.
    In regards to the Sysop Lord name field, please do NOT use LORD
    color codes. And the field length limit is 20 spaces.
  -------------------------------------------------------------------

  As with previous versions, the sysop/end-user can update and
  view the IGM Usage Reports disk file (JACK-USE.TXT) by running
  the GEMTRADE REPORT command. If you do not have a JACKPLAY.DAT
  file, this process is not usable.

  With one exception: Any JACKBACK.DAT file created by v2.51 Beta
  dated after Nov. 20th, 2007 can be renamed to JACKPLAY.DAT and
  then used with JACKEDIT.EXE (and GEMTRADE.EXE).

  The file is automatically updated after each usage of the IGM by
  the sysop/end-user. If you don't have a JACKPLAY.DAT database file,
  the IGM usage report will not be generated. The database file
  is reset at the start of each new day's LORD usage.
  =========================================

  In Jan. 2006, I changed the IGM so that when players reach or
  exceed the Daily Potions Trades Limit, they are not automatically
  sent out of the IGM any more. There are some exceptions:

  (1) Players always are sent back to LORD immediately following
  the Horse Bite injury or Fairy Lightning Bolt injury events.

  (2) Cheating results in punishment, and eviction from the IGM.

  (3) When players run out of Gems, they are sent back to LORD.

  (4) During Potions Trade event, players who enter ZERO or negative
      number at the Gems Offered for Potions prompt, are sent back to LORD.

  (5) During an Adoptions Event, entering a ZERO to abort the
      adoptions automatically sends the player out of the IGM,
      using the normal IGM Exit process.
  ==================================================================

  Special Deals Section Notes:
  ================================
  There normally are no refunds given when you pay Extra Gems, or
  buy something (Horse, Fairy) that you already have. A small
  amount of Charm points is granted player in return for Extra Gems.

  Cheating is quickly punished, and you are immediately kicked out of the IGM.

  Buying a Horse when you have one, or buying Fairy when you have one, is
  classified as STUPID. You either get a painful bite in the rear end,
  or a lightning bolt through your waist, as a result. And you are
  sent away afterwards, as Jack doesn't take advantage of idiots.

  As of Apr. 15, 2005, the Special Deals access fee is now 5 Gems. You
  can only use Special Deals if you have enough to make a Horse purchase.
  So if you have less than 20 Gems, you are denied access. Once inside
  Special Deals, you are only shown those deals you can afford to buy.

  E.g. If you don't have 25 Gems left, you can't buy the Fairy. And that
  option is not shown on-screen. IGM does not allow player to choose
  an option that they don't have permission to use, incidentally.

  Adoptions cost 40 Gems per child. So if player does not have 40 Gems,
  they can't do an adoption, and the Adoption Service is off-limits.

  Currently, you can only make ONE purchase per trip to the Special
  Deals menu. A single purchase can cover up to 780 Children, as
  of version 2.50. Each item on the Horse Supplies Menu in v2.50
  or v2.66 Beta, is also sold ONE at a time. But with that menu,
  you remain in the Special Deals Menu afterwards until you
  choose to leave it.
  ================================================================

  Requesting ZERO Potions. It will get you out of a trade, if you
  suddenly change your mind. But it constitutes wasting Jack's time,
  so he sends you on your way afterwards. So DON'T DO that!!

  IGM does not have any interaction other than between customer and Jack.
  There is zero player-player interaction. The IGM should be usable
  on as many nodes as your LORD game/BBS can access.
