  Compiled with Borland Pascal v7.01
  Uses DDIGM v1.01 by Steven Lorenz.
  Uses DDIGM code files modified by Jason Brown and myself.

  Uses ChasWare code library routines developed by Charlie Wardick.

  Some functions/procedures my IGMs use were created by Jason Brown,
  and are used with his knowledge and permission in all of my IGMs.
==============================================================

Dedications: The SHADEDIT utility is dedicated to Michael Everett
and Kenneth Padgett. The other HITS IGM files -- CONVHITS, SHADCFG,
and SHADOWS - do not use dedications. Added 12/07/2006.
===================================================================

When the IGM is in beta development, you use HITSWORK.ZIP and
SHADEDIT.ZIP. While it is in official release status, everyone
is to use HITS270.ZIP, CONVHS11.ZIP, and SHADED10.ZIP archives.

As of 12/31/06, everyone is to use HITS270.ZIP unless directed
otherwise, such as for usage of CONVHITS utility.
=================================================================

1.00: Various Important Notations:
========================================================

CONVHITS.EXE is ONLY to be used by people upgrading from HITS
v2.50, released in May 2005, to the current version, v2.70.
-------------------------------------------------------------

HS25EDIT.EXE is no longer supported. It is NOT compatible with
HITS v2.70, so you should get rid of its files now.
-------------------------------------------------------------

This development stage is using the DDIGM Tool-Kit. It will
be the LAST one that uses it. Version 3.00 will be based on
the ANGEL Tool-kit. Its development will start sometime
around mid-January 2007.
-------------------------------------------------------------

The IGM's SHADOWS.EXE, SHADCFG.EXE, CONVHITS.EXE, and
SHADEDIT.EXE programs all use the player database structure
that I coded, and put into usage, on Sept. 01, 2005. The
format was last revised on Nov. 21th, 2005 to fix a problem
with handling of the Spouse_Num database variable.
-------------------------------------------------------------

The IGM now uses a SHADOWS3.DAT IGM Configuration file.
It went into effect on January. 13th, 2006. The old config
file, SHADOWS.CFG, is no longer in use, and may be deleted.

SHADOWS3.DAT now has 6 lines, and IGM allows all players to
do more than one visit per day, *IF* Max Visits/Day is set
higher than 1 by the sysop/end-user or BBS webmaster.
-------------------------------------------------------------

Individual IGM events continue to be usable just once a day,
such as Garden of Lust. Some such as ATM Service are usable
without limit (as long as you have Gold to pay Conan's fee.)

05/17/05: The maximum Experience points reward in Gardens
of Lust was changed from 1 Million to 5 Million exp. points.
-------------------------------------------------------------

Room rent fees charged by Zelda are 500 Gold * Game Level.
The maximum fee charged by Zelda is capped at 6,000 Gold, as
of 12/29/2006. Alec's Room Rent fee is 1,000 Gold * Game Level.
The maximum fee charged by Alec is 12,000 Gold, as of 12/29/2006.

If player is married to another warrior who is asleep in the IGM,
Alec will inform him/her that they are in another room. He escorts
the player to their spouse's room, and refunds their Room Rental
Fee to them.
===========================================================

2.00:  Update from v2.50 to v2.70 Instructions:
===============================================
  Step 1: Obtain HITS270.ZIP from an authorized distribution
  site. They are listed at the bottom of SHADOWS.TXT file.

  Create a temp work directory under your existing HITS IGM
  directory. Unzip all files from HITS270.ZIP into it using
  overwrite mode. You can do the same thing with the files
  in CONVHS11.ZIP and SHADED10.ZIP. Just be sure to use the
  "unzip newer files" mode of your File archive utility.

  Example: pkunzip -n HITS270 HitsTemp
           pkunzip -n Shaded10 hitstemp

  HitsTemp is the name of the temp directory you created.

  Unzip the CONVHS11.ZIP files directly into the current IGM
  directory. If using HITS270.ZIP, extract ONLY the CONVHITS.*
  files at this time for use in Step 2-A below.
  ------------------------------------------------------------

  Step 2-A: Upgrading from v2.50 where you wish to protect
  IGM data for players asleep in the IGM.

  Read the CONVHITS.TXT file. It is included in this file
  as Section 10.00. Follow its instructions.

  When you finish using CONVHITS.EXE, and SHADEDIT.EXE as
  instructed in the CONVHITS documentation, ignore the Step
  2-B notations. Go to the Install IGM section.

  Instructions for SHADEDIT.EXE are included in this file,
  in Section 9.00, or in the SHADEDIT.TXT docs file.
  -------------------------------------------------------------

  Step 2-B: To upgrade from v2.50 to v2.70 WITHOUT protecting
  IGM data for players asleep in the IGM, simply delete your
  existing SHADPLAY.DAT file. Then go to Step 3.

  You can either archive the CONVHITS.* files or delete them.
  They are not applicable to you in this situation.
  -------------------------------------------------------------

  Step 3: Use the DOS XCOPY command to transfer everything from
  the HITSTEMP directory into the normal HITS game directory.
  Or just unzip everything from HITS270.ZIP into it using -O
  parameter with PKUNZIP or WZUNZIP. You can delete the HITSTEMP
  directory at this time.

  Now follow the directions listed in the INSTALL IGM section.
  ==============================================================

3.00:  Install IGM section:
============================================================

If you are updating from v2.50, I advise for simplicity that
you un-install v2.50 from the LORD game. Then re-install it
using these instructions.

* Those updating from v2.50 who wish to protect prior IGM usage
records for players who are sleeping in the IGM should have
already followed the instructions for CONVHITS.EXE usage. If
you have not done so, then do that NOW!!

* Delete SHADOWS.CFG and HS25EDIT.* files. They are no longer
  in usage by the IGM. HS25EDIT was replaced by SHADEDIT.EXE.

* You should already have unzipped the files from HITS270.ZIP
  into your current HITS IGM directory, as explained in the
  CONVHITS Usage section.

  It is extremely important that no one be using LORD while you
  are updating an IGM for various reasons. The most important
  one is that you could easily corrupt LORD files by trying
  to update an IGM while it was possibly in use. So make sure
  LORD is NOT in use while you are doing this. If necessary,
  take the BBS off-line or disable access to LORD in your
  BBS Doors Setup menu, if you are a BBS sysop.

* Run SHADCFG. It is best to use the SHADCFG CONFIG command.

  It will tell you that you need to create a new IGM config file
  (SHADOWS3.DAT). If you have one already made for a different
  LORD game's HITS IGM setup, you can copy that one into this IGM
  directory for usage. Of course, you will have to change its
  settings afterwards to match the current LORD game's setup.

  Most people should use option A and just create a new file.

  The Configuration process is as follows. Follow the on-screen
  instructions, which are simple and easy to understand. No
  one is to EVER use LORD color codes in the IGM config file!!

  1. What is your sysop name? Limited to 50 spaces in length.
  This is your real name.

  2. What is your sysop handle? Limited to 20 spaces in length.
  This is the LORD character name that you use as sysop in LORD.

  3. What is your BBS Name or Web-Site Name? It works best if
  you use data that is not longer than 40 spaces.

  After a PAUSE, you go to the CONFIG Menu.

  Use option C first. Use Option A and tell the IGM where DOS
  LORD directory is located. Option B is for IGM directory path.
  Option C is Sysop Name. Option D is Sysop Lord Handle. Option
  E is BBS Name. Option F is Max Visits per day. Option Q is
  Quit and Save Settings.

  Default value for Max Visits will say Zero. Change it to the
  value wanted. Allowed data range is 1 to 5.

  Once you have verified that all data shown on-screen is correct,
  use Q to Save the Settings.
  --------------------------------------------------------------

  SHADCFG Install process then runs automatically and it checks
  to see if the LORD Path you gave is valid. Then it verifies
  that the IGM Path is valid. Go past the PAUSE statement now.

  In the Config Menu, use Option I now to INSTALL the IGM.
  If the IGM is already installed, SHADCFG will tell you that,
  and it shows the listing of installed IGMs from 3RDPARTY.DAT.

  Otherwise, the program will install the IGM into 3RDPARTY.DAT,
  write an IGM Installation notice in LOGNOW.TXT and then it
  returns to the Config Menu.

  The entry in 3RDPARTY.DAT should look like this:

C:\BP7\SHADOWS\UNITS\SHADOWS.EXE *
`$HIDING IN THE SHADOWS`0 V2.70

  User can choose whether to include version number info,
  or not, during the IGM Installation process. The IGM Path
  part will be based on YOUR IGM Directory path location.
  ------------------------------------------------------------

These are the other options in the Config Menu. Option U
is for Un-Install IGM. Option R is for Creating/Viewing the
IGM Usage Reports File. Option Q exits SHADCFG.EXE.

When you use Q, the SHADCFG.EXE program terminates and returns
to the DOS prompt. This concludes the Install IGM section.

4.00:  Kenneth's Introduction from HITS v1.50:
===========================================================

-=-=-= [Hiding in the Shadows documentation] =-=-=-=-

Kenneth's Introduction:

I've been wanting to write an IGM ever since I registered
LORD. Seth Able's release of LORD 3.55 added a feature to
"stay" in other IGM's. With that feature in mind, I created
"Hiding in the Shadows". The idea is based on a Thieves Lair,
and there are many interesting things to do! Enjoy!
--------------------------------------

Intro Update:

Kenneth turned his IGM over to me in January 2004, and I started
updating it on Jan. 30, 2004 by recompiling its source code files
to get rid of the old IGM's RTE200 problem. This is my sixteenth
LORD project. I hope that you find the updated IGM worthwhile
and enjoyable. Donald.

-----------------------------------------------------
SHADOWS3.DAT Info:

Line 1: LORD Path - Displays your LORD Directory Path. Is in
        Upper-Case.

Line 2: IGM Path - Displays path to where Hiding in the Shadows is
        located.  Also stored in upper-case.

Line 3: Sysop Name - Use your First and Last Name. Limited to
        50 spaces in length.

Line 4: Sysop Handle - The LORD player name you use personally.
        Is used to predicate various IGM functions during beta testing
        so that only the beta tester, usually a BBS sysop, has
        access/usage of them. Limited to 20 spaces in length.

Line 5: BBS Name - Use your BBS Name, Web-site Name, or make up
        something for this field.

Line 6: Max Visits/Day.  End-user/Sysop may choose between 1 and 5
        during IGM configuration process. Initial value when you
        are creating a SHADOWS3.DAT file is Zero.

      ** See HITSWARN.TXT for rules regarding SHADOWS3.DAT file.
--------------------------------------------------------------

** IMPORTANT **

As of 09/18/05, at IGM entry and IGM exit, the IGM will
automatically repair any negative LORD stats and/or over-range
LORD stats that the player has. DOS LORD v4.07 and v4.08 Beta
are extremely liable to crash when *ANY* LORD numeric database
stat is out-of range.

Example: LORD does not like it when stats such as Gold in Bank
or Experience goes over 2 Billion. And LORD stats are not
intended to contain negative values in any normal situation.
===================================================================

****: Using the Usage Reports file:
=====================================
You may directly access/view the Usage Reports file by
using the SHADCFG REPORT command from the DOS prompt.

That bypasses the normal main menu processing that is not needed
if you are just wishing to update and view the usage reports.

One requirement: You have to have a player database file in
order to view/create/update the IGM Usage Reports file. {02/06/2005}

In other words, you must have a SHADPLAY.DAT file in order to
generate a new HS-USAGE.TXT file, which the SHADCFG utility
then displays to you, one screen at a time.
================================================================

****:  IGM Usage Notations:
=======================================
1) If you rob the Vault and are caught without having paid the
   Large Man for protection, you lose half of Gold and Gems.

   Once a player has successfully robbed the Vault, they are
   prevented from accessing the Vault again that day in later
   visits. Players are allowed up to TWO chances per day to
   rob the vault. But it is reduced to ONE chance if you succeed
   on that first try.

   Note: If you go to the vault, and change your mind about
   trying to enter a combination, that visit does not count.

   ----------------------------------------------------------------
   05/09/05: HPs loss is now a mandatory 30% of your Max Hit-Points.
   I ended practice of allowing players with low HPs to survive
   the severe beating. Now if you go below 0 Hps, you are killed.

   If you have a Fairy, he can save you from death ONCE per day.
   If you have Conan's protection, nothing in the IGM can kill you,
   and you are simply beaten unconscious.

   Players will lose 10% of their Experience regardless of whether
   they are rescued by Fairy or by Conan, if they are killed by the guards.

   You also lose 50% of your Gold on Hand and Gems if you are captured
   trying to rob the vault.

   ** See HITSWARN.TXT for further info about Vault Robberies.

2) The IGM only requires players to pay for protection one time
   per day. If you visit Large Man and can't pay him, or reject
   his protection, you are NOT allowed a second chance with him
   that day.

   (HINT: Always see how much money you have BEFORE you enter
   his office. And remember, the IGM has an ATM. It is not
   located in Conan's office, so you don't risk loss of his
   protection when you visit the ATM.)

   Depending on Max Visits/Day setting, players may use the IGM
   between ONE and FIVE times each day. The setting is established
   by end-user/sysop during IGM configuration.

3) Fairy Rescue. Only works in regard to player being killed by
   Leland in the Hall of Illusion. Fairy may only rescue player ONE
   time per day. If player has Large Man's protection, fairy rescue
   is not applicable, since the player is rescued by Conan, the Large
   Man. If player returns to IGM for further visit, does not have
   Protection, has a Fairy, and they get killed by Leland, they will
   remain dead until the next day.

   If player is killed by Leland's guards a second time, and they
   have a Fairy, the Grim Reaper will feed their corpse to the
   Red Dragon. Randomly, the killed player may be fed to the Dragon
   anyway, if the guards were too lazy to dig a grave.

   ** See HITSWARN.TXT for further info about Vault robberies,
   and execution by Leland's guards for committing adultery with
   Leland or his wife.

4) The IGM now uses ShadTime.Dat. If you still have an HitsTime.dat,
   you will have to delete it manually.

5) During IGM usage, the IGM creates a copy of the SHADOWS3.DAT file
   which MAY NOT be tampered with or deleted while the IGM is running.
   Doing so may cause the IGM to not work properly. The copy file is
   automatically deleted when the IGM returns the player back to LORD.

6) Wishing Well: New Wishes are a) Horse, b) Orphan Child,
   c) Fairy, d) Hear Bard Sing Again; e) Women: Flirt with Bard
   Again; Men: Flirt with Violet Again; f) 2 Player Fights,
   and G) Sex Change.

   A short notice is written to lognow.txt whenever a player
   uses the IGM's Wishing Well to get a Sex Change. The Stats
   screen reports your current Sex Gender status.

   The menu codes are all changed, as of 05/18/2005. Instead
   of using 1-9, and A-J, as the IGM used to do, it now uses
   A-S codes only. The only number code now in use is 0, which
   remains the "Abort Wish" menu option. The new menu layout
   may confuse players for awhile, but I felt a new layout was
   needed, so get used to it.

   Horse/Fairy notes: If you wish for Horse or Fairy and you
   already have one, the igm simply gives you a replacement.
   You are told in the Wishing Well Menu screen if you have
   one or both. There is NO second chance wish granted by IGM
   in this situation.

   Second Chance wish: Is only granted if the igm is unable
   to grant a wish. Example. You have 32,000 Charm points and
   wish for Charm. IGM can't grant that, so it will allow you
   to come back to the Well later and make a substitute wish.

   -----------------------------------------------------------
   Future wishes - these will be worked on sometime in 2007.

   1) 2nd chance to fight Master. 2) 2nd chance to Flirt with
   Player. 3) Renewal of current skill class's Skill Use points.

   The IGM will be changed in Version 3.00 to allow up to 5
   Wishes to be made each day. That will be implemented through
   a Wishes player database stat, and a Max_Wishes IGM Config
   variable.
   ===========================================================

   ** See HITSWARN.TXT for further notes on Wishing Well event.

7) Free Room at Inn. If your player spouse is already asleep in a
   room, you are granted permission to join them in the room for free.
   The room rental price paid to Zelda or Alec will be refunded.

   This IGM event is tied to the IGM's OUT files, so be VERY sure not
   to delete them for any reason manually while the IGM is in usage.

   Room rent fees were doubled in January 2005. If you can't
   pay for a room, and don't qualify for a free room, then your
   request for a room will be denied.

   ** See HITSWARN.TXT for further notes on Room Rentals.

8) As of May 9th, 2005, there is a Special Stats listing. It
   covers several LORD stats and several IGM stats, It is shown
   at IGM entry when you select View Stats -- from the "Something
   Scary Happens" event; and it is shown during IGM exit.

   Neither of the Stats screens are shown at igm exit when the
   player has exceeded the IGM's daily uses limit.

   There simply was not enough room on one single screen to
   display all the important LORD stats, and the important
   IGM stats. So the IGM uses two screens to show them.

----------------------------------------------------------
For further data on IGM limits and rules see HITSWARN.TXT.
==============================================================

5.00: ****:  Updating from Version 2.00 to 2.70:
=============================================================

This also applies to update of any v1.xx version of HITS:

Everyone should use the current version. That is the only
version I can support fully. Get HITS270.ZIP from one of the
authorized distribution sites, and follow the instructions in
the INSTALL IGM Section. People updating from version 2.00
can NOT use the CONVHITS.EXE utility.

** In general, any *.dat files used by the igm's older
    versions can be deleted. If you have any doubts about
    what to delete, contact me for technical support.

    ## Delete HitsTime.Dat or Shadows.dat if you have them.

    ## Delete your old SHADPLAY.DAT, if it is from v2.00 usage.

       WARNING: Attempting to use the IGM with an OLD player
       database file, will cause the IGM to crash.
==============================================================

6.00: ****:   Normal Installation Instructions:
Most of this is from the original HITS v1.50 documentation.
==============================================================

SHADCFG.EXE was designed by Kenneth Padgett. It is different
as a result from all of my other IGM's stand-alone Setup
programs. One difference is that you can use the Cursor key
to select options from the Config Menus.

Sorry, but the program has no idea what a Mouse is <G>. Its
a DOS program, and most of those can't use the Mouse.
==============================================

When updating any IGM, it might be always advisable to make
a backup of your existing OUT files that are in the LORD
directory. That way, if something you do during IGM setup
operations affects those files, you can restore them from
the backup files. Either put them in a ZIP file or in a
temporary work directory.
-------------------------------------------------------------

If SHADOWS3.DAT does not exist, when SHADCFG.EXE runs, it shows
a warning screen. There are three options for you to choose
from.  (1) Create new SHADOWS3.DAT file.  (2) Copy SHADOWS3.DAT
from another LORD game on your system. Or (3) Quit using program.

Note: If there is a SHADOWS3.DAT in the current directory, the IGM
will read the configuration fields from that file. Then it runs
the IGM Config Editor, which displays the values of the current
configuration data fields on-screen. In that case, you won't see
the Warning Screen at all.

SHADCFG displays the data values read from SHADOWS3.DAT
immediately after SHADOWS3.DAT is read. Those are in the
Config Menu. To change them, you use the Config Editor Menu.
=============================================

Usage Note: When configuration data already exists, and you are simply
verifying it is correct, it is not necessary to select and change any
of the config data lines. Simply select Quit/Save and move onward.

When a data line is highlighted -- it has a check mark symbol to the
left -- simply pressing ENTER lets you change the data shown. If you
press the ENTER key again without changing the data, the current data
continues to be used in SHADOWS3.DAT without change.

All of the text configuration entries -- LORD Path, IGM Path, BBS Name,
Sysop Handle, Sysop Name -- are displayed automatically in upper case.
============================================================

On the initial screen, which is shown ONLY if there is no
SHADOWS3.DAT in the current IGM directory, you will see three
options, identified as A, B, and C.

Option A creates a new SHADOWS3.DAT file. This runs the Auto-
Config process. The program will attempt to auto-detect the
location of your LORD Game directory, and assumes that the current
directory SHADCFG.EXE is running from, is the desired IGM install
directory.

If SHADOWS.EXE is NOT found in the current directory, the Setup
process will immediately terminate. SHADCFG will scan the current
directory for LORD.EXE. IF SHADCFG is unable to find LORD.EXE
there, the program will default to C:\INTERNET\LORD\ for the LORD
game location. If LORD.EXE is found there, the Auto-Config
process will end at that point.

Be SURE that you specify the correct location for LORD when you
reach the Configuration Menu screen.
============================================================

From initial screen, option B is used to copy a pre-existing HITS
IGM installation's SHADOWS3.DAT file from a different directory
location.

Say you have LORD Game #1 in c:\LORD and the IGM is installed
there in c:\LORD\Shadows. The SHADOWS3.DAT file from that IGM
installation would be used initially for setting up the IGM in the
current location, which in this example is
c:\internet\LORD\shadows. From that point, SHADCFG will then run
the Config Editor process.
============================================================

Lastly from initial screen, option C exits SHADCFG. Use it if you
changed your mind about configuring/installing the IGM, or simply
want to try it out.
============================================================

  The IGM Configuration Editor process:
  ------------------------------------------------------------
  Choose Config option from Main Menu. Verify your LORD path is
  shown correctly. If it is wrong, change it now. Type your
  Name when prompted to do so. Registration line can either show
  your actual name, or the name of a BBS/web-site.

  On the third line, the IGM directory info is shown. It uses
  the CURRENT directory Shadcfg.exe is run from. If the info
  shown is NOT correct, change it to where you are installing
  the IGM. (Use of IGM path started on 04/17/2004.)

  Line 4 is Sysop Name. This is your first and last name whether
  you are a BBS Sysop/Webmaster, or just a regular LORD player.

  Line 5 is Sysop Handle. This is your PRIMARY LORD Character's
  name, that you use when playing LORD. If you change your player's
  LORD name between visits to the IGM, it will notice and automatically
  update the SHADOWS3.DAT file with the new LORD name you now use.

  BBS Name, Sysop Name, and Sysop Handle are limited to maximum
  length of 40 spaces, so they show up properly on-screen during
  IGM usage or during usage of SHADCFG.EXE.

  Line 6: Max Visits/Day. May be set between 1 and 5.
  The IGM will not allow more than 5 visits per day. You can try
  running the IGM additional times, but you are denied actual access.
         ------------------------------------

  Follow on-screen instructions and enter data if none is shown
  for an option, or if the data shown on-screen is not correct.

  Be especially careful if you have multiple LORD games on your
  computer that you have used the CORRECT LORD Path data, or some
  strange stuff may occur during SHADCFG.EXE usage or when the
  IGM is next used in a LORD IGM session. That applies equally
  to the IGM Path data.

  ===========================================================
  Cursor Key usage: The Check Mark symbol next to a menu command line
  indicates that command choice will be executed when you simply
  press the ENTER key.

  Examples: When the check mark is besides the CONFIG line, and you
  press the ENTER key, SHADCFG will run the Configuration process.
  Similarly, when check mark is besides the INSTALL line, INSTALL
  process is run when ENTER is pressed. And so on, for the Usage
  Reports, Un-Install IGM, and Quit command lines.
  -------------------------------------------------------

  Once you have verified the data shown in all five lines,
  use the Quit option and save the IGM configuration data.
  That concludes the IGM Configuration process.

  ==============================================================
  The program will now process Install/Uninstall instructions.

  During the 3RDPARTY.DAT LORD file update process, you will be asked
  if you wish to include the version number or not in the IGM entry.

  SHADCFG will display the data that was written to the
  3RDPARTY.DAT file on-screen after the file has been updated.
  ---------------------------------------------------------------

  Verify entries in your LORD game's 3RDPARTY.DAT file.

  As of 01/31/04, the IGM no longer uses a Registration Code line.

  Start your LORD game, and start playing the IGM.

9.00: ****: SHADEDIT v1.00 Player Database Editor Docs:
        Stored separately in the SHADEDIT.TXT file.
-----------------------------------------------------

SHADEDIT.EXE v1.00 Information  {Revised December 31, 2006}

    ** Official release was done on December 31th, 2006.
    ** Distribution was done on December 31th, 2006.

Compile Date:  December 31, 2006.

This utility program was created by Donald Tidmore.
SHADEDIT is based upon the Chasware LPEdit utility.
===========================================================

Section 1:  SHADEDIT USAGE NOTES:
------------------------------------------------------------
  1) Obtain copy of the SHADED10.ZIP archive. Primary
     distribution sources are my Castle Camelot, Camelot
     LordNews FDN web-sites. Along with NightFallGames.com
     web-site, the Fidotel BBS's LORD archives files area,
     and Mike Ehlert's BBS Archives web-site.

  2) Unzip all files from SHADED10.ZIP into your IGM directory,
     using overwrite mode.  E.g.:  pkunzip -n SHADED10.zip

  3) Change into the HITS IGM directory. Verify you have
     a current SHADPLAY.DAT file. If you don't, then you can't
     use SHADEDIT.EXE.

     The player database only tracks ONE day of IGM use. Since
     this IGM is one that allows players to sleep in its Inn,
     some database records will be from previous IGM usage days.

     SHADEDIT can NOT be used without a SHADPLAY.DAT file.

  4) The first time you run the utility, it will ask you for
     the path to the HITS IGM directory. Type it in, and
     press ENTER to exit the dialog box prompt. SHADEDIT.CFG
     file will be created in that directory.

  5) Run SHADEDIT.EXE. If a config file is not in the directory
     you run it from, it will ask you to create one - as noted
     above. If config file is found, it then checks for existence
     of SHADPLAY.DAT file. If one is not found, program will
     give error message and quit working.

     SHADEDIT has only one screen of data. It shows database
     fields in the order they are listed in the player database
     record structure (usually). Each value, with two exceptions,
     may be set to any value that is valid for it.

     The Lord Player Number field is display-only. That is because
     I don't see any valid reason to allow users to fiddle around
     the LORD Player Number field.

     The IGM's Spouse Number field is also display-only. There
     is no simple way for SHADEDIT to verify Spouse Number info,
     that is changed by the program's user. So it does not allow
     the field's value to be altered.

  6) When you exit SHADEDIT, it will resave the SHADPLAY.DAT
     file so that any changes you made will be accessible to
     the IGM.

  7) If you Delete a Player's record, the ACTUAL deletion from
     the player database is handled by the IGM when it runs
     New Day processing. To force the IGM to do New Day, for
     purposes of testing Player Deletion, first backup the
     database file - so you can restore data later if needed.
     Then delete the shadtime.dat file and enter the IGM.

     The IGM will then do New Day processing and create a
     brand new player database, which will only contain the
     current player's record and records for any players
     who are asleep in the Lair's Inn.

     Shadedit.txt file was created on Sept. 10, 2005.

     End of Notes for SHADEDIT usage.

10.00: ****: CONVHITS v1.10 Player Database Converter Docs:
        Stored separately in the CONVHITS.TXT file.
-----------------------------------------------------

CONVHITS v1.10 Information  {Revised December 31, 2006}

    ** Official release was done on December 31th, 2006.
    ** Distribution was done on December 31th, 2006.

Compile Date:  December 31, 2006.

This utility program was created by Donald Tidmore.
===========================================================

This utility was created by me on October 21th, 2005. It is
based on the CONVBANK.EXE utility for Kiteria's LORD Bank IGM
created for me by my friend Stephen Gibbs in October 2005.

Version 1.00 was never released and is no longer supported.

Usage: It converts a SHADPLAY.DAT, which has to be named
"HS25PLAY.DAT", from H.I.T.S. v2.50 into a new SHADPLAY.DAT
file that is fully usable with H.I.T.S. version 2.70.

If you are already using H.I.T.S.'s current betas, then you
do NOT need to use CONVHITS.EXE, unless you just want to
see how it works. Be warned: This program is NOT compatible
with HITS v2.58+ betas which use a different player database
format than was used by HITS v2.70 when it was released in
May 2005.

Usage Instructions: * READ THEM!!! **
---------------------------------------------
(1) Be warned: This program is NOT compatible with HITS
v2.51+ betas which used a different player database format
than was used by HITS v2.70 when it was released in May 2005.

(2) When used, CONVHITS.EXE replaces any current SHADPLAY.DAT
with its output file. Always make a backup of the current
SHADPLAY.DAT before using CONVHITS.EXE.

(3) You MAY ONLY use this program under this specific situation.

CONVHITS.EXE is *ONLY* for use by people upgrading from HITS
v2.50 to v2.70. It is NOT for usage with HITS v2.20 or earlier
versions under ANY circumstance whatsoever.

It is for use only in a version upgrade where you intend to
keep old players records from your last v2.50 HITS LORD IGM
session, for the purpose of protecting data on which players
are asleep in the IGM currently.
=============================================================

OK, do the following steps:
=============================
1) Acquire HITS270.ZIP and CONVHS11.ZIP from my web-site, or
from one of the other recommended distribution sites listed
in SHADOWS.TXT.

I recommend strongly that you get the program directly from my
Camelot LordNews FDN or Castle Camelot web-site. CONVHS11.ZIP
only contains the actual CONVHITS program files, whereas the
HITS270.ZIP archive contains all of the IGM's program files
including those for CONVHITS.EXE and SHADEDIT.EXE.

2) Using CONVHS11.ZIP, unzip its contents into your HIDING IN
THE SHADOWS game directory. If you use HITS270.ZIP, be *SURE*
that you ONLY extract the CONV*.* files at this time. !!!

3) Run the Hiding In The Shadows v2.50. Do anything you wish to
do inside, and then exit the program. Then exit LORD as well.

4) Change to H.I.T.S. directory. Print copy of HS-USAGE.TXT file
just to be sure you don't lose track of igm users' record values.
Copy your v2.50 format SHADPLAY.DAT to HS25PLAY.DAT. Backup
the existing IGM files into a temporary sub-directory.

5) Using HITS270.ZIP - obtained from me via email, or downloaded
from a BBS or Internet web-site, - unzip its files using
over-write mode on top of your existing H.I.T.S. v2.50 program
files.

Be warned, this REPLACES all v2.50 program files with the new
ones for HITS version 2.70. At this time, you can delete the
HS25EDIT.* files if you are using them. Everyone has to use
SHADEDIT.EXE v1.00 with HITS v2.70.

6) Run this command from the DOS prompt: CONVHITS

It will read the HS25PLAY.DAT binary database file. It reports
the number of database records it converts, along with showing
the LORD Names of each igm user. Then it terminates. Entire
process takes a couple of minutes or less.

I've added a pause after each batch of 20 records is processed,
to allow the user to keep track of what the program has done.

7) Regarding SHADEDIT, you are to use the files in either
HITS270.ZIP or SHADED10.ZIP. If you are using HITS270.ZIP,
unzip ONLY the SHADEDIT.* files at this time.

Run SHADEDIT.EXE player database editor, version 1.00. Verify
that all of your igm database records are valid amounts. If they
all look fine on-screen, there is no need to use the printout of
the HS-USAGE.TXT file. Once you know all of the records contain
valid data, exit SHADEDIT.

8) That completes the Player Database Conversion process.

Once you have finished the Upgrade process listed in SHADOWS.TXT,
you may now resume normal usage of the Hiding In The Shadows igm.

     End of Notes for CONVHITS.EXE usage.

11.0: Plans for Version 3.00: Timetable: Early 2007 work.
============================================================

(1) Convert IGM to use the ANGEL BBS door games tool-kit.
    IGM will be rebuilt using my LORD Skeleton template IGM.

    I will probably discontinue usage of SHADCFG.EXE.

(2) Config File Change: Add Max_Wishes Variable so Sysops can
    configure Wishing Well usage for 1-5 wishes per day.

    SHADOWS3.DAT will then have 7 lines, instead of 6, in it.

(3) Player Database Format Changes:
    * Replace Used_Well BOOLEAN VAR that limits Wishing Well
      usage to once per day, (excluding usage of IGM's Second
      Chance Wish concept), with a Wishes BYTE VAR. Field will
      be limited to 1-5 data range.

    * I will discontinue use of IGM's HITPOINTS database var.

(4) New Wishes planned for Wishing Well:
    * Flirt With Player Again
    * 2nd Chance with Master
    * Skill Class change - would be done randomly
    * Skill Use Points Renewal - for current Skill Class only.

(5) Possible usage of some Random Events at IGM exit.
    * Players would only get them if they are leaving IGM alive.
