===========================================================

IGM was adopted from Ken Davis on Nov. 22nd, 2005.

-- Both HUT.EXE and HUT2EDIT.EXE use a Player Database
	structure that was revised on Mar. 02nd, 2006.

As of Dec. 30-31, 2005, this IGM is now based on the
DDIGM Tool-kit. The next development cycle will be
for conversion of the IGM to the ANGEL tool-kit.
========================================================

Program Updates Information:    {08/12/2007}
=========================================================
Ken Davis's last version was 2.00, released in 1997. If you
are using that version, un-install it completely. None of
its program, documentation, or data files are still in use.

Follow the instructions in this file for Installing the IGM,
using the HUTCFG2.EXE utility program.
===========================================================

If you have been using my beta versions, your update process
is very simple, involving these three steps:
-----------------------------------------------------------

(1) Unzip all files from HUT220.ZIP and HUT2ED10.ZIP, using
overwrite mode, into your Village Hut IGM directory. All of
the files inside HUT2ED10.ZIP are inside HUT220.ZIP. When
IGM is in beta development, HUT-WORK.ZIP and HUT2EDIT.ZIP archives
are in use.

(2) If you have them, delete the HUTCFG.EXE, HUT.ANS, REGISTER.HUT,
LOCKOUT.HUT, HUT.DOC, HUT.CFG, HUTMINE.DAT, HUTDORK.DAT, HUTDORK.USE,
and HUTJEST.DAT files. They are no longer in usage.

(3) Revise LORD's 3RDPARTY.DAT to indicate the IGM is v2.20.
Save changes to file, using a text editor, word processor,
or program such as WORDPAD or NOTEPAD. If you use LordMenu,
be sure you are using v1.40, and use it to update its data
files. You can resume normal usage of the IGM at this point.

MANDATORY: *NEVER* update a LORD igm's program files while the
LORD game is in use. Always close LORD before you do the program
updates. Failure to do so MAY result in corruption of your
LORD game's data files. And it probably would result in similar
corruption of the IGM's data files.
=============================================================

Beta Testers Update directions:
Does NOT apply to users of Ken's v2.00 IGM.
=============================================================
1) Obtain HUT220.ZIP and HUT2ED10.ZIP archives, either from
   me via email, or from one of my distribution sites.

2) Unzip contents of HUT220.ZIP into a LORD sub-directory,
   such as VILLAGE, using Overwrite with New Files mode.

3) Change to the IGM directory and run the HUTCFG2.EXE program.
	Answer configuration menu questions as directed on-screen.

   * If IGM is already installed, simply make sure that your
     IGM configuration settings are valid, and then exit the
     HUTCFG2.EXE utility.

   * Only use the INSTALL IGM main menu command if you have
     uninstalled a prior beta version, and want to start from
     a clean slate with the official release version's files.

   When finished, save your config file, and exit the program.

4) Verify your 3RDPARTY.DAT file for possible errors. If you
   use LORDMENU, run the program, and update its data files.
   Resume normal use of LORD and the igm at this point.

   If you run into problems, send me details via email along
   with archive file containing all data files in your VILLAGE
	directory; and the following LORD data files: play*.dat
	files, Lognow.txt, 3rdparty.dat, and error.log.

IGM Support Notes:  Added 02/13/2006:   {08/12/2007}
=================================================

I only provide support for this LORD IGM in the DOS LORD Game.

DOS LORD v4.07 was officially released on June 07th, 2006.
DOS LORD v4.08 beta was compiled ONE time in late September 2006.

None of the v4.08 LORD betas are being distributed currently,
and all official LORD programming by Michael Preslar has been
dead since September 2006, for reasons unknown.

I have no current plans to make an 32-bit version of this IGM,
for use with LORD/32 for Windows.
=============================================================

HUT2EDIT.EXE Information  {08/12/2007}

See the HUT2EDIT.TXT documentation file.
======================================================

Special Notes Section.  Added 08/12/2007
--------------------------------------------------------------
Special Privileges?: There are none. The IGM does not care if
you have a Horse, Fairy, or if you are Single or Married. It
also does not care if you are a Death Knight, Magician, or Thief.

If you get killed in the IGM, -- which can only happen because you
played with too low hitpoints and some event lowered them to zero,
-- it will allow a Fairy to bring you back to life. That's the
only value that Village Hut assigns to a Fairy.

The IGM does not act any differently if you are using LORD
in Clean Mode.

There are some IGMs that have special code that executes when you
are the "right" skill class, but this is not one of that type.
--------------------------------------------------------------

During IGM Exit, players that use CASTLE CAMELOT as their BBS Name,
or the Sysop User player, are prompted to choose if they want the
final LORD/IGM Stats screens to be shown. For everyone else, the
IGM does not show the Stats Screens at all during IGM exit - either
the Fast Exit version or the Normal Exit version. Since View Stats
is an option throughout the IGM, and can be used at any time by
the player (unless they are dead), I saw no reason to include the
"See your Stats?" prompt in the normal IGM exit process.

IGM Files, Requirements, Testing Section:
-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
The following files are included within the The Village Hut
archive:

FILE_ID.DIZ  - Description file (Village.diz)

HUT2EDIT.EXE - Village Hut Player Database Editor utility v1.00
HUT2EDIT.TXT - Separate docs file for HUT2EDIT v1.00.
HUT2EDIT.DIZ - Separate BBS DIZ file for HUT2EDIT v1.00.

CCL-APPS.TXT - Info on all of my LORD Programming projects.
CCL-PROJ.TXT - Info on my upcoming LORD project plans in 2007.
--------------------------------------------------------

Files created when HUT2EDIT.EXE, HUTCFG2.EXE, or HUT.EXE are used:
-------------------------------------------------------

* HUT2EDIT.CFG - Config file for HUT2EDIT.  Not used by HUT.EXE.

* HUT2.CFG - IGM Configuration file. Used primarily by HUT.EXE.
				 File is created/updated normally using HUTCFG2.EXE.

* HUTTIME.DAT - Used to keep track of change in Day, Month or
					 Year, so IGM knows internally when to reset its data
					 files for a new day's game usage. (Binary file)
					 Used only by HUT.EXE.

* HUTPLAY.DAT - IGM Player Database. Binary file. Tracks all
					 activity on daily basis of the IGM's users. Even if a
					 player has not used the igm that day, they will have a
					 database record if they have Gold/Gems on account.

					 Used by HUT2EDIT.EXE and HUT.EXE.

* HUTBACK.DAT - Backup of IGM Player Database HUTPLAY.DAT file.
					  For use whenever IGM is running and HUTPLAY.DAT
					  can't be found, it is used to recreate the player
					  database file. Used only by HUT.EXE.

* VH-USAGE.TXT - IGM Usage Reports disk file. Contains Four Usage
                 reports, as of version 1.51 Beta.

                 Shows activity by players for current day.
                 See IGM Usage Reports sections for details.

HUTDEBUG.TXT: Debug Log file. Not currently in use by IGM.
				  If you have this file, you can delete it at any time.
				  (Unless this file indicates it is back in use.)

Program uses these LORD data files.
    PLAYER.DAT, 3RDPARTY.DAT, LOGNOW.TXT, MARBARD.DAT, and
    MARRAGE.DAT.  MAIL*.DAT files.  OUT.* files.

OUT files are used only to the extent that they show players in
LORD or in other IGMs where a player is located. Village Hut
does not feature an Inn, Hotel, or Tavern feature for sleeping
overnight.
============================================================

REQUIREMENTS:
  1. Any version of DOS LORD that supports IGMs. Testing was done
     with versions 3.55 through v4.08 Beta.

  2. DOS 6.x or later versions. Probably works with DOS v3.xx forward
     as well, but I can't say for sure.

  3. IGM is usable whether LORD is registered or not.

Notes about how igm recognizes a player. It uses the LORD Real Name field
for this purpose. If for any reason, you change a player's LORD Real Name,
the IGM will NOT recognize that player as being a prior user. If a change
has occurred in player's LORD Name or Player Number between IGM uses, the
IGM updates its player database record with the correct values for those
two LORD stats during the IGM entry process.  {10/14/2005}
=========================================================

TESTING:
---------------------------------------------------------
    The Village Hut LORD IGM is currently tested using
    DOS LORD v4.08 Beta. It has been tested with versions
    of LORD going back to v3.55 by myself, and by various
    friends who beta test my IGMs and LORD Utility programs.

	 Testing has been done using all versions of Microsoft Windows,
    starting with Windows 95, and ending with Windows XP, using
    current v4.0x versions of Legend of the Red Dragon.

    All of my personal IGM testing since July 2004 has been
    entirely done with Microsoft Windows XP.

End of files section.

DEDICATIONS:
-----------------------
The IGM's HUT.EXE and HUTCFG2.EXE program files are dedicated
to Ken Davis, who created the Village Hut.

HUT2EDIT.EXE is dedicated to Ken Davis and Seth Able Robinson.
==============================================================

IGM Configuration File Layout:
--------------------------------------------------------------
Config variable limits are as follows:
The HUT2.CFG file should only contain these 11 values.
---------------------------
*NONE* of these values can use LORD color codes.

LordPath: Limited to 100 characters in length.
IGM Path: Limited to 100 characters in length.
Sysop Name Limited to 20 spaces in length.
Sysop Handle: Limited to 20 spaces in length.
BBS Name: Limited to 50 spaces in length.

Max Mines Turns: Limited to 50 Mine Turns per Visit.
Parlor Fee: Limited to 32,500 Gold Coins.
Cloaked Figure Fee: Limited to 10 Gems. 1-10 range.
Max Visits: Limited to 10 visits per Day. 1-10 range.
Max Wishes: Limited to 10 Wishes per Day. 1-10 range.
Max Kids: Limited to 20 Adoptions per Day. 1-20 range.

The IGM uses an internal constant to manage Adoptions as well,
that limits players to 5 Adoptions per Visit. It applies to
all Adoptions, whether they occur in the Mine or are granted
to player by the Village Idiot.

The first 5 IGM usage Limits were implemented on Feb. 20th,
2006. The sixth and last Limit, covering Adoptions per Day,
was implemented on Mar. 28th, 2007.

The IGM only counts Wishes that are granted by the Idiot. The
ones that he rejects don't count against the Wishes/Day limit.
=============================================================

Internal Limit Constants: These are handled inside the IGM.
In the next development cycle, I will consider adding some of
them to HUT2.CFG.

(1) Players are limited to 500 Million Gold Transfers per Day.
The # of transfers made each day is not regulated.

(2) Players are limited to 500 Million Wisdom Points per Day.

(3) Players are limited to 100 Million Gold Coins Found per Day.
There is no limit on Gold Coins LOST by player each day.

(4) Players can only adopt Five kids per Visit. Once the
player reaches the Daily Adoptions Limit, the IGM no longer
runs the Find Lost Child event in the Mines.
==========================================================

Weapons Shop: Uses 16 values. In ascending order from #0 to
#15, these are their names:

Fists              Brass Knuckles           Singing Sword
Titanium Spear Steel Hatchet Conan's Sword
Ruby Flame Axe Roland's Sword Gandalf's Staff
Samurai Sword Dragon Claw Axe Adamantium Axe
Thor's Hammer      Odin's Sword             Turgon's Sword
Greek Fire Sword

The IGM's prices are based upon 110% of LORD's prices, and
the Strength Points for each weapon are 110% of LORD's values.
-----------------------------------------------------------

Armoury: Uses 16 values. In ascending order from #0 to
#15, these are their names:

Skin               Coat                     Clown Suit
Batman Suit Bronze Armour Iron Armour
Graphite Armour Carbon Armour Armour of Death
Able's Armour Full Body Armour Blood Armour
Magic Protection Bullet-Proof Vest Golden Armour
Armour of Gore

The IGM's prices are based upon 110% of LORD's prices, and
the Defense Points for each armour are 110% of LORD's values.
=============================================================

These are the events that can occur inside the Mine:
Find Old Man: You can talk to him, attack him, or leave him alone.

Find Potions: There are several types. Defense Potion, HitMax
     Potion, Hitpoints Potion. Poison Potion. (It can kill if
     player is careless enough to allow their Hitpoints to drop
     nearly to Zero.)  Strength Potion.

Find Gems. Find Fairy. Find Gold. Find Mega Sphere.
Find Nothing. Find Pain. (You step on something and get hurt.)
Find Soul Sphere. Find Treasure Map. Find Whiskey Bottle.
Gems Tunnel Loss. Gold Thief event.
============================================================

These are the Wishes offered by the Village Idiot. There is
no guarantee that he will grant a wish. Wishes are listed
in the order they are shown in the IGM.

Wisdom, Good Looks (Charm), Gold, Vitality (Defense), Strength,
Life (HitPoints), One Skill Point, Two Kids, Forest Fights,
Jewels, Human Fights, Change your Sex, Request new use of
The Mines, Give me a Surprise Wish. Quit and leave his presence.

The IGM is coded so that individual rewards (or losses) are
not very large. They are not very small either - something
that I always hated about really old IGMs that were miserly.

The sysop/end-user can decide for themself how many Wishes
a player can make each day. I believe a maximum of 20
Wishes is enough for any player. The Max Wishes/Day Limit
can NOT be set to Zero. Neither can the Max Adoptions/Day
Limit be set to Zero.
============================================================

IGM Installation instructions:
==============================================================
Run the HUTCFG2.EXE setup program. Use "C" to run Configuration
from the Main Menu. This should be done first. When you
finish IGM Configuration, you are returned to the Main Menu.

Use "I" to Install the IGM in LORD's 3RDPARTY.DAT file.

Use "U" to Un-Install the IGM.

Use "R' to Reset the IGM. This resets the values inside
	  the HUT2.CFG file to its default values. You have to
	  reconfigure some of them such as BBS Name afterwards.

Use "V" to Update/View IGM Usage Reports. Only works when
	  you have a valid HUTPLAY.DAT igm Player Database file.
	  It creates/updates the VH-USAGE.TXT file and then shows
	  its contents one screen at a time to you.

Use "Q" to save the IGM Config File, and exit the utility.
=============================================================

Special Commands:
=============================================================
HUTCFG2.EXE has 2 command parameters. HELP and REPORT.

HUTCFG2 HELP shows a short Help Screen.

HUTCFG2 REPORT creates or updates the IGM's Usage Reports file,
and displays its content on-screen. The program then terminates.
If you do not have a HUTPLAY.DAT player file, an error screen
is shown and the program terminates.

HUT.EXE is only designed to be used from inside LORD. It has
no special parameters.
=============================================================

IGM Un-Install instructions:
==============================================================
Run the HUTCFG2.EXE setup program. Use "C" to run Configuration
from the Main Menu. Then use "U" to run the Uninstall process.
When finished, use "Q" to exit the HUTCFG2.EXE utility.

Note that some program files are not automatically deleted,
in case the user is planning to re-install the igm. If you
no longer plan to use the IGM, delete all of its data files
from the IGM's directory. You can then delete any remaining
program files and documentation files.
=============================================================

HUT2EDIT.EXE uses two data files: HUT2EDIT.CFG, which is
created the first time you use it; and HUTPLAY.DAT, which
is created by the IGM. HUT2EDIT will not work without the
latter file. You can't EDIT something that does not exist,
after all. Read HUT2EDIT.TXT for further details.
===========================================================

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

Introduction

The Village Hut is a new place users can go to explore. Here
are the things they can do.

	- Witch Doctor: A new healer that heals for less. (Yeah,
						  I know other IGMs do it for free.)

	  Ken Davis charged gold for healing, and I have retained
	  that policy in the IGM. If you have enough Gold, he does
	  a Full Healing. Otherwise, he does a Partial Healing
	  where he heals as many Injured HitPoints as can play for.
	  Healing costs are based on what LORD charges for healings.

	- Scribes: Have the scribes write something on your
					weapon or armour. It allows you to rename
					them to new names, limited to 18 spaces length.

	- Mines: The user walks around and finds different things:

            Potion: It can be just water, poison, or strength potion.

            Fairy: You know what a fairy is!

				There are various objects such as a Mega Sphere or
				Soul Sphere that you can find, in the Mines. Not
				all Mine events are good ones. Some can cause injury
				and some will result in various types of losses.

				Old man: You can attack him, talk to him, or
				  ignore him. Be warned: if you Attack him, you
				  ALWAYS will get punished for doing so.

				Ouch: You step on a knife blade and lose hit points.
					{ WARNING: This event can KILL you, if your Hitpoints
					are dropped to Zero, when it occurs. If player has
					a Fairy, it is allowed to bring him/her back to life. }

				You get ten Mine Turns for every level you are on.
				Actual # of turns per Visit is variable.

				The # of Mines Turns allowed each Visit is sysop
				configurable in the HUT2.CFG file. It is limited
				to a maximum of 50 Turns per Visit.

				Players can get more Mine Turns only by wishing for
				the Mine to be Reopened at the Village Idiot's place.
				This wish is only granted ONE time per Day.

	- Beauty Parlor: The user will get cleaned up and gain charm.
				The Parlor fee is sysop-configurable in HUT2.CFG.

	- Village Idiot: He is the guru of the town. He can give the
				user gold, charm, experience, etc. Every time
				the user comes back per day he has a lot lesser
				chance to get something.

            You may only do a maximum of 10 Wishes per day.
            Only wishes that are granted count towards the limit.

   - Weapons & Armour: Two new weapons and armour stores that
            pay back 75% of the price of the weapon/armor.

   - Cloaked Figure: You pay him 10 gems, he gives you info
            on a player. He knows all - but he only
            tells you PART of what he knows. Gems fee
            is sysop-configurable inside HUT2.CFG file.

	- Gold Transfers: Completely rewritten based upon Gold
				Transfers code from my Kiteria's Lord Bank
				igm. You can transfer Gold to other players,
				but not to yourself. Transfers are subject to
				limits listed elsewhere in this file.

Program History by Ken Davis:

This program has had a long and hard history.

Version 1.0 - Initial Beta Release

Version 1.1 - Title screen didn't appear in the previous version due
                to my lack of brain cells. Now fixed.
                Also, the user WAS able to transfer a negative amount
                of gold to someone. Now fixed. This could've caused
                a major problem.

Version 1.2 - Internal program changes.
                HUT.ANS had to be in the LORD directory. Now fixed.
                Ansi displayed slow.  Now fixed.
					 When you re-entered the mine you got extra turns. Now fixed.
                Lots of others that I forget now. Now squished.

Version 1.3 - Registration name was garbage in last version. Now fixed.
                The game didn't delete the OUT.<user_account> file,
                causing the user to get kicked out of LORD v3.50+. Now fixed.

Version 1.5 - Overlay file added, major reorganization.
                Made the program look nicer, added some secret stuff.
                Fixed a bug that would not detect if the the program
                was running locally. Now SysOps can play without fiddling
                with 3RDPARTY.DAT! (or so I thought) Fixed a bug that
                exited the program with too many open files.

Version 1.51 - Ah, some new bugs! Hut now detects local right.
                If you pay without enough gold in the beauty parlor,
                Hut will say you need <incorrect #> dollars more. Now it
                dosen't lie to you. Also did a major reorganization of
                my "DDLORD" unit. (a modification of DDPLUS 7.1)

Version 1.9 - The beauty parlor gave you a tad too much charm. Now fixed.
                The Mines had a bug that a few people told me about. The
                problem was from the previous version that exited when
                you found gold. Now fixed. Some messages changed a little.
                Some things reorganized. Hut displayed the wrong node
                number in the Status Line. Now fixed. Fixed a bug that
                didn't let Hut work in Renegade. Hut does not detect RIP
                now so the loading time will be faster. Hut now has a
                feature that if a user drops carrier inside Hut the
                computer will be rebooted. The more prompts are now
                erased.

Version 2.0 - I ruined some of the messages in the last version. Now
                fixed. The "gold" bugs from the last version weren't fixed.
                Now fixed. If Hut wasen't registered you got a divide by
                zero error (in last ver only). Now fixed. Added the
                Scribes section.

Build 203 - Fixed some bugs in the Scribes area. Made some messages
                nicer.

Build 205 - Changed the Scribes area all around. Fixed some bugs in there.

Build 225 - Completely fixed the scribes. <finally ;> Fixed some spelling
                errors in the Jester. Removed the cheat, er, debugging codes.
                Users can now keep their fairy they found in the mines. Thanks
                to Scott Roosa on Cheyenne BBS for telling me about that!

Build 250 - Major bug fixes! You can now keep your faries. If a user
                transferred gold to another user when they were online they
                lost their gold and the user did not receive it. Now fixed.

Build 260 - Build 250... But with NEW Debug Code!! :) I apparently
                wanted to waste some version numbers.

Official 1.0 - Fixed the bug where Hut locked on some computers... finally!
Release Thanks to Steve O. for fixing that bug!

Release 1.3 - Added some stuff, made the more prompt look cool.
                Fixed some keyboard timeout bugs. Fiddled around with the
                stupid prompts again.

Release 2.0 - My new 1997 release. I moved so my address has changed.
                I rooted out some registration bugs with help from Jeff
                Miller of the ONIX BBS in Bala Cynwyd, PA. Hut now
                sets you input numbers in the transfer desk.
                Last revision: June 23, 1997 - Ken Davis.

v2.10 - Created in late 2002 by Donald Tidmore. RTE200 patch
			of Ken's version 2.00 IGM. Hutv210.zip. It was not
			released in any official way. May not be available online.

v2.20 - Officially released on Aug. 14th, 2007 by Donald Tidmore.
			Complete rewrite of v2.00 source code. All of the
			Cheat codes were removed. HUTCFG.EXE was replaced
			by HUTCFG2.EXE. Added HUT2EDIT.EXE utility. IGM
			changed from DDPLUS to DDIGM tool-kit.
===========================================================

Next Version Info:   No timetable.
-----------------------------------------------------------
The IGM will be converted to use the ANGEL Tool-kit, which
is the only supported Pascal tool-kit around for making LORD
IGMs, other than Rick Parrish's Manndoor tool-kit.

I may provide a few other Wishes for the Village Idiot section.
Some other events in the Mine are possible. Random Events
that run unexpectedly as the player returns to LORD Town may
also be added to the igm someday.
