2.0 INTRODUCTION:
-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-

  LGCASINO.EXE - Main IGM program, with Setup/Config built-in..
-- To install/re-install, use: LGCASINO INSTALL
-- To update IGM Configuration, use: LGCASINO CONFIG
-- To uninstall IGM from 3RDPARTY.DAT: LGCASINO REMOVE

-- View/Update IGM Usage Reports LGCASINO REPORT
      (Added during 2008 development process)

======================= Program Description/Setting:
LGCASINO is a little door that goes with Legend of the Red Dragon. It
consists of a Gambling Casino, with four primary options. Play
Roulette, play Slot Machines, Play Blackjack, or Visit the Bank --
accesses your LORD bank account. Think of it as an ATM service.

Using the "Ye Olde Banke", if you run out of Gold on Hand, you can
get more money to gamble with. Or you can deposit some Gold back
into your Bank account -- where it can earn you some Interest.

During visits to the Bank, you may view your Gold in Hand, Gold in
Bank, and Gems statistics. At any time, during IGM use, you may
 view your primary LORD Stats.

Update notes: Rewrote the Main Menu to work better 01/17/2008.
======================================================================

Whenever the IGM is in development, you are to use LGC-WORK.ZIP.
The official release archive for v2.30 is LORDGC23.ZIP.

 New Installation:
   * Unzip files from LORDGC23.ZIP archive into a subdirectory under
your LORD game. I suggest using CASINO directory name.

   * MANDATORY. If LORD is running, close it down. If you run
a BBS, make sure NO ONE can run LORD for awhile. It is VERY
dangerous to install igms, in my opinion, while LORD is
running. You can re-enable access to LORD once you are
     finished installing the IGM.

   * Change to that directory, and type this command at DOS Prompt:
        LGCASINO.EXE INSTALL -or- LGCASINO INSTALL
Press the ENTER key on your keyboard to run command.

   * Follow the dialog box window prompts to do installation - or
re-installation process. They are very simple.

   * Optional:  Verify additions to LOGNOW.TXT, 3RDPARTY.DAT
files in LORD directory. Verify data written to CASINO.DAT
     file, in the IGM's directory.

   * LordMenu users: Update your data files every time you
make changes of ANY kind to the 3RDPARTY.DAT file.

Be sure that you use LordMenu v1.5, which was officially
     released on 08/29/2008.

     http://camelot.legendarydragons.com/LordApps/lrdmnu15.zip

   * For BBS sysops, you can re-enable access to LORD at this
point. Start LORD, and check out the IGM. Installation
     is finished.
   =================================================================

IGM Configuration Changes:
-- Unless you want to edit data files manually, do this:

Run LGCASINO REMOVE command. Move LGCASINO IGM files to the new
directory location. Then run LGCASINO INSTALL command from there.
Check 3RDPARTY.DAT to ensure you don't have multiple entries
for the IGM -- unless for some reason you DO want them.

      -- Manual editing changes:
** Open CASINO.DAT in a program such as WordPad or QEdit,
that will save text files in ASCII format.

Line 1 is LORD Path. Where your LORD game is located.
Line 2 is IGM Path. Where you are running the IGM from.
Line 3 is Sysop Name. First & Last name of Sysop/Webmaster.
Limited to 50 characters in length.
Line 4 is Sysop Handle. The Sysop's primary LORD Name.
Limited to 20 characters in length.
Line 5 is BBS Name. Name of your BBS or web-site.
Limited to 50 characters in length.

Line 6 is Max Visits per Day. Data range is 1 to 20.
Line 7 is Slot Winner. LORD Name of last Slot Machine
                               Jackpot winner.
Line 8 is Slot Jackpot. Amount of last Slot machine jackpot.

Line 9 is Max Adoptions per Day. Max Adoptions via Gems
                               Trading allowed per day.

The IGM no longer uses a sysop-defined IGM Name.

Once you've verified that all of the values are OK,
save the Data file and exit the program you are using.

-- Manual reconfiguration is completed at this point.

NOTE: It is quicker to use the LGCASINO CONFIG command.

It will not allow you to alter LORD Path, IGM Path, or
Sysop Name. The first two if changed also require changes
to LORD's 3RDPARTY.DAT file, and so on. Which is best
limited to the INSTALL and REMOVE processes.

You can change Sysop Handle, BBS Name, Max Visits, Slot
Winner, Slot Jackpot, and Max Adoptions/Day values using
the CONFIG process. Changes are saved to the Config File
ONLY if you choose to have them saved.
      ==========================================================

Altered data files from Install/Config/Remove processes:
    1) LORD's 3RDPARTY.DAT file.
    2) LORD's LOGNOW.TXT file.
    3) The CASINO.DAT IGM configuration file.

Note: This igm does not use LORD's MAINT.BAT file. It also
does not use the LORD MAIL files for any reason.

Your 3RDPARTY.DAT entry lines for the IGM should look like this:
        C:\INTERNET\LORD\LGCASINO.EXE /N* /GC:\INTERNET\LORD
        `$LORD Gambling Casino `!v2.30

If you prefer different color codes, change them to your liking.

Note that your LORD and IGM directory paths info will be
    different from what I use.

This IGM, due to nature of ANGEL Tool-kit based BBS programs, is
designed to work either in LOCAL mode, or as a BBS door game.

    ---------------------------------- 09/11/03 --------------------
Remember, this IGM uses ANSI color codes, so you must be using
the ANSI.SYS device driver or an ANSI utility program, while
running the IGM under LORD. The Setup process also uses ANSI
colors. Those running Windows 2000/NT/XP/Server 2003 O/s's are
advised to use the PC Magazine ANSI.COM utility. A copy of the
archive is available from link on my web-site's LORD Links Page.

To get ANSI from PC Magazine, you will have to subscribe to their
Utilities Download service, as utility downloads are no longer free.
====================================================================

Updating Instructions:
    1) From any prior version:
-- Un-install the old IGM version from your LORD Game.
Use the LGCASINO REMOVE command to do this.

-- Delete all old EXE program files used by the IGM.
Delete all old .CFG, .DAT, and .TXT data files that
          the old version was using.

-- Create an CASINO IGM directory - recommended.
You can use another directory of your choice also.

-- Unzip all files from LORDGC23.ZIP into that directory.

LORDGC23.ZIP contains all of the LGCEDIT v1.10 files,
so you don't need to deal with the LGCED10.ZIP or
          LGCED11.ZIP archives used by LGCEDIT.

-- From DOS Prompt, execute this command: LGCASINO INSTALL
          Answer all prompts shown on-screen.

    2) Update from v2.10:
       1) Unzip files from LORDGC23.ZIP into the IGM's directory.

Use overwrite mode, so that newer files are extracted.

       2) Delete all old .CFG and .DAT igm data files. Some may
no longer be compatible with the IGM that were used by
          version 2.10.

       3) Manually edit 3RDPARTY.DAT to show IGM as version 2.30.

Alternative: Un-install version 2.10. Then install
          the v2.30 IGM.

If you use LordMenu, run it to update the program's
data files that are used by LORD when it shows the
IGMs menu in two columns on-screen.

Re-activate usability of LORD on BBS systems. Its
not safe to install IGMs while LORD is running.

       3) That concludes the installation process. You can
start using the updated IGM now.

   =============== End of 09/21/2007 info =====================

Tobin spent a good amount of time on the IGM, as have I so far.

If you simply want to study the code, for purpose of writing your
own IGM, let me know, and I'll send it to you. Usage of various
IGM code elements will require you to also gain usage permission
from Tobin Fricke and Charlie Wardick. No distribution is allowed
of the source code to others is allowed, under any circumstance,
   without my written, explicit permission.

Also, no recompilation is permitted without my permission, other
than to study how IGM works, for work on your own LORD programs.
At any rate, if you work on the code in ANY way, I expect to be
notified, and sent copies of all modifications made to this IGM.

 --WANTED:

[1] Please send me the rules for all kinds of Casino games so that I can
 add them.

[2] If you are artistically inclined, I'd love to have RIP and/or ANSI
 screens for LGCASINO!

[3} Feedback on bugs that you notice, or requests for new features
 would be appreciated.

  Usage Limits:
--------------------
1) The Polish Armour event is usable once per visit.

2) The Sharpen Weapon event is usable once per visit.

3) The IGM is usable up to 20 times per day.

In a later version, I may change the Polish Armour and Sharpen
Weapon events so that they can only be used once per day. For
now, I don't think that is necessary.

4.0 INSTALLATION:
-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
Mostly covered without details in "Updating Instructions"
    segment of the Introduction section.

During beta work development, instructions refer to LGC-WORK.zip.

    1. Unzip LORDGC23.ZIP into a LORD sub-directory. I suggest using
CASINO for directory name. By design, the IGM was developed
to use its own subdirectory, but it will work with other
IGMs provided none of the other igms use files that the
LORD Gambling Casino requires - which are listed above.

         http://camelot.legendarydragons.com/IGM-Beta/lgc-work.zip

         http://camelot.legendarydragons.com/LordApps/lordgc23.zip
-- For official release archive for L.G. Casino v2.30.

To update from v2.10 to v2.30:

Run LGCASINO CONFIG and verify your IGM settings.

If you have altered the LORD Path, IGM Path, or Sysop
Name fields's values used by the IGM, you either have
to edit those fields inside CASINO.DAT manually, or
          un-install and re-install the IGM.

The CONFIG process only covers these fields: Sysop
Handle, BBS Name, Max Visits/Day, Slot Winner's Name,
Slot Jackpot amount, and Max Kids Sold per Day.

    2. From DOS Prompt, type: LGCASINO INSTALL

Follow on-screen instructions, and IGM will be installed into
your LORD game. IGM announces itself in LOGNOW.TXT, and adds
its entry lines to 3RDPARTY.DAT. That concludes the IGM
       installation process.

C:\BP7\CASINO\UNITS\LGCASINO.EXE /N* /GC:\INTERNET\LORD
LORD Gambling Casino v2.30

Basic entry lines that I use, without LORD Color Codes,
in the 3RDPARTY.DAT. Will be different for each user since
everyone uses different directory/drive path info.
=======================================================================

IGM Removal Synopsis:
-------------------------
    1. Change to where you installed the IGM. Type: LGCASINO REMOVE
Follow instructions, and IGM will be removed from 3RDPARTY.DAT,
and the CASINO.DAT file will be deleted.

    2. Delete the LGC*.* files unless you think you may want to keep
them around. That concludes IGM removal process. Also delete
files like LGCTIME.dat and LGCPLAY.DAT, unless you think you'll
re-install the IGM at a later time.

    3. Anytime you modify the content of LORD's 3RDPARTY.DAT file
in any way, you need to update the LordMenu data files if
       you are using that program.
===================================================================

Configuration Update:

From DOS Prompt type: LGCASINO CONFIG

-- Follow the on-screen directions. The dialog boxes work
best using a Mouse. You can use ALT-Y to respond YES to
a prompt. Be sure to complete ALL displayed config values:
Max Visits per Day, Sysop's LORD Name, etc..

-- If you use more than one copy of IGM, verify the IGM
Directory Path information, while using CONFIG. Also make
sure you have the CORRECT LORD Path.

-- Edit 3RDPARTY.DAT to use the current IGM Version number.

-- If you changed anything inside 3RDPARTY.DAT, and you use
LordMenu, update its data files at this time.

IMPORTANT: Do not try to reconfigure the IGM while LORD is
running. Strange things might happen, especially if someone
was playing the IGM at that time on a BBS.
=========================================================

My LADY Scripts: If you want them, they are all stored inside
my dgt-lady.zip file. Along with scripts by my friends Michael
Everett, Dan Stovall, and Gordon Lewicky. Two of the scripts,
Polish Armour and Sharpen Weapon, were adapted into IGM events
during v2.30's development process.

    http://camelot.legendarydragons.com/Scripts/dgt-lady.zip

Periodic update of dgt-lady.zip on web-site is due to inclusion
of my Lordapps.htm and Ccl-apps.txt data files for the most
part. Occasionally I do some code rewrites and tweaking of my
LADY scripts.

Following his death in July 2005, I've been supporting all of
Gordon Lewicky's LADY scripts as my own.
==============================================================

Minus LORD color codes, which in general I personally don't use
much myself, this is what the IGM command lines in 3RDPARTY.DAT
should look like. Each person installs programs their own way,
so your directory path will usually be different:

C:\BP7\CASINO\UNITS\LGCASINO.EXE /N* /GC:\INTERNET\LORD
LORD Gambling Casino v2.30

The actual description entry in 3RDPARTY.DAT will contain
LORD color codes. Which can be changed to user's preference.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
Note: While using this IGM, you may NOT rename any of these files:
       LGCBACK.DAT, CASINO.DAT, LGCTIME.DAT, LGCPLAY.DAT,
       and LGCASINO.EXE.

Don't rename, except for backup purposes, the LGCUSAGE.TXT
file. It is recreated after each IGM usage.
======================================================================

REQUIREMENTS:
  1. Any Version of DOS LORD that supports IGMs. Testing was
done with Versions 3.55 through v4.08 beta.

  2. DOS 6.x or later Versions. Probably works with DOS v3.xx forward
as well, but I can't say for sure.

  3. IGM is usable whether LORD is registered or not.
------------------------------

TESTING:
My daily testing of LORD Gambling Casino LORD IGM is done using
the September 2006 compilation of DOS LORD v4.08 Beta. I have
also tested the IGM under LORD v4.07.

My beta testers used other LORD Versions such as LORD v3.55.

My testing was under MS Windows XP Home, Service Pack 2. I was
using MS Millenium Edition when v2.10 was developed, years ago
    in 2003.

Others will do testing under Windows 95, Windows 98, Windows XP, and
    other Microsoft operating systems.

No support whatsoever is available for this igm in regards
to Microsoft Vista, which does not have much, if any, support
    for running/installing DOS applications.

This IGM has also been tested using MTelnet in a Synchronet
BBS setup designed for me by Jason Hud, using the official
    version files of LORD v4.07.

7.0 SPECIAL THANKS TO:
-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-

Gary Hartzell - Gave me lots of feedback and support in my IGMs work.
Hosts the Castle Camelot web-site on his server,
and provides the Legendarydragons.com LORD Archives
                  FTP server for public usage.

Charlie Wardick - Taught me LORD IGM programming skills, and how to
program Pascal again. Which I had not touched since
                  the mid-80's in college.

Michael Everett - For many years of friendship and support in my
LORD IGM programming. Hosts the Nightfallgames.com
                  LORD Archives web-site.

And to all of my other friends who have gone through my evolution
as a LORD games programmer since February 2002, by testing my new
Lady scripts, and LORD IGM/utility beta compilations, over those
many months.

Other Credits:
==================================================
* Thanks to Tobin Fricke for finding the source code to his old IGM
and turning it over to me, and for all the help he gave me in
figuring out how the program works. He gave me his IGM on
  Apr. 23rd, 2003.

* Thanks to Charlie Wardick and Jason Brown for teaching me most of
I have learned since June 2002 about LORD IGM/BBS Pascal programming.

* Thanks to Chris MacPherson for allowing me to work on the Pawn Shop
LORD IGM that he created since Thanksgiving 2002. Work on it
greatly increased my understanding of BBS programming over the
past 5+ years. The IGM is now mine entirely as of 2007.

my friend Janice Stout. Janice died on Apr. 27th, 2007, and
she was the beloved wife of my long-term BBS friend Daryl Stout.

Jason Brown and Lloyd Hannesson. It is also dedicated to

8.50: Various IGM Notices:
------------------------------------------------------------
** IMPORTANT NOTICE: As of Oct. 24, 2007, using v2.15, the
IGM is now named LGCASINO.EXE instead of LORDGC.EXE. Everyone
who is using this IGM needs to edit their LORD 3RDPARTY.DAT
file to use the new IGM program name. Remember to update
your LordMenu data files afterwards. Donald.
------------------------------------------------------------

03/13/08 Notes:
** The main menu has been completely rewritten and it has
     been fully tested.

** The Slot Machine event has been rewritten, and is fully
tested. Added View Stats option to several menus.

** The Trade Kids for Gems event was added, and is fully tested.

** The Blackjack game was redesigned, and is fully tested.

** Glitch fix: If the dealer gets Blackjack, he wins the round.
The igm is fixed so that if player ALSO gets blackjack,
he/she is told why they don't win the round. The igm WAS
showing BOTH players as having won the round previously.

** After each card is dealt, the igm now shows a Points total
for the player's hand. That info was previously only shown
at the end of the round.
-----------------------------------------------------------------

** Notice: 03/31/2008: **
-------------------------
(1) I've fixed up a method for players to stay at the Blackjack
table after each round. It asks if you want to stay or leave
first. If you want to stay, then it asks if you want to change
the amount you are betting or not. It's not perfect, but it
is working fairly well now.

(2) I've written a new event. #9 on the main menu. Lets you
visit a Smith and have your Armour polished, for a reasonable
amount of Gold. If you are down on your luck, he/she grants
the polishing anyway, in return for a hug. Grants the player
3 Defense Points per Game Level. Its working good. I hope
everyone enjoys using it. It can only be used once per visit.

(3) Fine-tuned the Blackjack events some more, so that they
make it more clear at times what happens during each round.
At times, that was not easy to determine previously. Donald
---------------------------------------------------------------

04/04/2008 edits: Added Defense Points column to Usage Reports.

04/28/08 Changes: (1) Completely replaced the Bank process.
     (2) Added a second Customers Usage Report. (3) Added
Sharpen Weapon Blacksmith event. (v2.20+ beta)
---------------------------------------------------------------

07/21/08: Max Visits/Day Limit change. With a couple of
exceptions such as Kiteria's LORD Bank, all of my IGMs
will be using 20 as the maximum Visits/Day Limit, based on
feedback from Daryl Stout.

07/31/08: Rewrote ATM Service event code.

9.0: LGCEDIT.EXE Information:

Stored separately in the LGCEDIT.TXT Documentation file.
------------------------------------------------------------

Short explanation about v1.10. Since its been over a month
since v1.00 was released, I decided to change LGCEDIT to v1.10
and re-release it along with LGCasino v2.30, which I finished
development of on Sept. 05th, 2008. There is no actual difference
between v1.00 and v1.10 of LGCEDIT. It simply has up-to-date
documentation and a new compilation date now. Donald 09/04/08.
============================================================

10.0: IGM Testing Notes Section:
--------------------------------------------------------------
This IGM has been fully tested under LORD v3.55 through v4.07,
and using the September 2006 compilation of LORD v4.08 Beta.

09/04/08 Notes:
---------------------------------------------------------------
Its development and testing since Sept 2006 has been under the
only compilation of DOS LORD v4.08 beta that was made available
to the public. No one since then, LORD IGM authors-wise, has
been allowed to have more current compilations of the LORD games.

Since none of the BBS LORD programmers have access to current
compilations of DOS LORD v4.08, I can NOT honestly say that
this IGM will work with LORD v4.08 whenever it is finished.

Since I (and other IGM authors) can't test IGMs that we develop
in an up-to-date LORD v4.08 game, I make no promises as to this
program's usability with DOS LORD v4.08 when it is released
by Metropolis Gameport and its author Michael Preslar.
