[INTRODUCTION]
So, I decided to do a simple Tavern before finishing The L.O.R.D.
Catapult. Yea, I know there are a lot of Taverns (in the LORD
universe). But this is the first FREEWARE one I've seen that lets
users stay overnight in it, although there is a new one, Aladdin's
Palace, but it costs $1,000,000 to stay overnight! There's also a
SHAREWARE one I saw that has to be registered to let users stay
overnight. This Tavern has some interesting obscure stuff in it and
it's not too expensive!

BTW: Yes, I recycled a lot of this doc from The L.O.R.D. Cavern's doc.
That's because the install program's the same, and so why write a
completely new doc? One last thing, do not use this IGM with other
IGMs that let users kill other users, it will screw everything up!
The only one I know of is Werewolf!!, but be warned!
----------------------------------------

Note 1: Work on L.O.R.D. Catapult IGM was abandoned around 1999.

Note 2: It is NOT advised for sysops to attempt to install Outlands
Tavern in same directory as L.O.R.D. Cavern or the Gateway. Each IGM
works best in a separate subdirectory, due to usage of identical
names for Setup.exe and Extra.cfg files.
-----------------------------------------------------------------

[FILE LIST]

Files that should be in OUTS14.ZIP:

  FILE_ID.DIZ : BBS Description File. (Outlands.diz)
  OT_WHATS.TXT : Revsions/What's New in this version. (whatsnew.txt)
  OUTLANDS.TXT : You're reading it.
                  RENAMED FROM OUTLANDS.DOC!
OUTSCODE.TXT : RHP Codes manual for Outlands Tavern. (codes.txt)
 *OUTLANDS.ANS : Introduction ANSI file.
 *OUTLANDS.EXE : The Outlands Tavern!
 *SETUP.EXE : Setup/config program.
HOMEPAGE.URL : Internet Shortcut to my homepage.

OTSAMPLE.RHP : Sample RHP Script for Outlands Tavern.
                  Renamed from Sample.rhp 11-01-02.
SHINY.RHP : The Strange Shiny Thing v1.10 - RHP Script.
  ============================

Files that are made by The Outlands Tavern in its directory:
  ------------------------------------------------------------
 *OUTLANDS.DAT : Player info file.
 *OUTSTIME.DAT : Time keeping file.
 *OUTLANDS.CFG : Configuration file.
 *EXTRA.CFG : Extra configuration file.

ERROR.LOG : Created in directory ran from, usually LORD's, and has
any errors that happen in the IGM.

  *=Needed for program to run.

BTW: Setup isn't really needed. It's just nice to keep around. <G>
-----------------------------------------------------------------

[REQUIREMENTS]
A computer!
LORD version 3.50+ (will work with version 3.25+, but then users cannot
stay in the Tavern overnight)(LORD 3.55+ needed for BADWORDS.DAT).
DOS version 3.1 or better.
SHARE installed for multinode systems.

** Note: Share.exe is not required for usage on systems using
Windows 95, Windows 98, Windows 2000/NT, Windows ME, Windows XP,
or non-Microsoft O.S.'s such as OS/2 or Linux. **

A Modem! 300-115,200 baud and any fossil lock baud rate up to 115,200.
286 or later processor. Memory! Very little needed to run.
-----------------------------------------------------------------

[UPGRADING]
From v1.0+:
Copy all files in this ZIP over the existing version's files. No
additional configuation is needed. You can edit OUTLANDS.CFG to
enter your handle, or it is just set as blank.

From v1.3a:
  * Unzip Outs14.zip into your Outlands IGM directory,
overwriting the older version's program files.
  * Re-run SETUP.EXE and verify that your settings are correct.
-----------------------------------------------------------------

[INSTALLATION]
Note: If you have The L.O.R.D. Cavern, all you have to do is copy
LORDCAVE.CFG in your L.O.R.D. Cavern directory to OUTLANDS.CFG
in your Outlands directory, and then use Setup to install
       (option 'I').

Put the files in the .ZIP archive in a directory off of your LORD
directory. May I suggest naming the directory "Outlands"? Then run
SETUP. Press 'C' to configure first. The rest shouldn't be too hard
to figure out. Just awnser all the questions. Installing (pressing
'I' after leaving the configure menu) will put the IGM's run lines into
'3RDPARTY.DAT', and an announcement that The Outlands Tavern has been
installed in the Daily Happenings log file. For those of you who want
to edit OUTLANDS.CFG yourself, here's a listing of it:

OUTLANDS.CFG Listing:

D:\BBS\LORD\
Unregistered BBS
Unregistered
Sysop
Sysop #1
000000

Line 1: Path to LORD with trailing backslash
Line 2: Your BBS name
Line 3: Your real first name
Line 4: Your real last name
Line 5: *NEW!* Your handle (optional). Displayed at start up instead of
your real name, no effect on registration.
Line 6: Not used by The Outlands Tavern, but something must be here.

The path must be on the first line, and no comments are allowed unless
they are after the sixth line.

You'll notice that I said it'll use non-standard com ports in the
File_id.Diz, but there's not a configuration setting for that. That's
because it gets all that stuff from LORD's Node*.Dat file. As long as
LORD is set-up right, this will be set-up right in that respect. I wish
more IGMs used that Node*.Dat, too...

These are the lines put in 3RDPARTY.DAT by The Outlands Tavern:

<path to OUTLANDS>\OUTLANDS.EXE *
`!T`3he `!O`3utlands `!T`3avern`2

Just in case you wanted to know. :^)

========================================
Example: c:\lord\OUTLANDS\OUTLANDS.EXE * would be your first line,
if you installed LORD in root directory of Drive C:.
-----------------------------------------------------------------

[UNINSTALLING]
Note: To reset The Outlands Tavern, run SETUP and press 'R'.
Now why would you want to do that <G>? Well, run SETUP, press 'U'.
I won't go into anything about IGM expanders, because this program was
really written for LORD 3.50, and that version got rid of the need for
them.

======================================================================
Provided the user is running LORD v3.50 - v4.00a - by Seth Robinson;
or v4.02 - v4.07 (beta) - by Michael Preslar; LORD will automatically
handle as many IGMs as you wish to install. However, unless you are
using the LordMenu utility, any IGMs installed over 24 will result in
the user having the Other Places menu scroll upward until the command
prompt appears. Use of LordMenu - by Lloyd Hannesson - allows you to
list installed IGMs in a two columns per line menu.
-- http://www.dasme.org/techn/files/lrdmnu13.zip (LordMenu v1.30)
-----------------------------------------------------------------

[USING IT]
Just select it in the other places. It automaticly does its maintence
when the first person of the day enters. When someone stays the night,
LORD will do daily maintence (if necessary), display mail, then run The
Outlands Tavern, where then the tavern will go to its wake-up screen. I'm
telling you again, don't use this IGM with other IGMs that let users kill
other users, it will screw everything up! The only one I know of is
Werewolf!!, but be warned again!

[CLOSING]
I hope you like this IGM! BTW: Parts of this IGM were ripped out of the
first IGM I was working on, but dropped, called The L.O.R.D. Castle, which
wasn't finished. Looks like all that work now has a home <G>. Dancing,
the Stats, and the ATM were orginally from that ill-fated IGM. Now for my
list of thanks:

Bye to Horizon BBS <SNIF>!

Thanks to Thomas Wendland, aka Mathias, for doing the intro ANSI.

Thanks to everyone that Beta tested this.

Thanks to Seth Able Robinsion for writing LORD, releasing the PLAYER.DAT
structure, and helping with the player fight setup.

Thanks to Jemery Kink (aka Draconith) of Dragon's Keep for also helping
with the player fight setup. Sorry to see your BBS go! <SNIF>
-----------------------------------------------------------------

[UPDATE NOTES - June-October 2002:]
-- Read OT_Whats.txt file.

Corrected spelling errors in Documentation files for IGM. Updated
email address for Jason Brown. Note that his old jmbrown@mines.edu
email address does not work now. Updated web-site URLs where needed.
Added info regarding available RHP Scripts for Tavern IGM usage.
----------------------------------------

Upcoming Work Notes:
The next version will restore purchase of Food and Drink items,
similar to what was in v1.1. Rewards and penalties will be
randomly chosen.
========================================

No other work is contemplated - until the 32-bit LORD ports, by
Michael Preslar, are available in Beta to LORD Authors. Then
32-bit versions of these programs may be created for use with
LORD/x (for Linux), LORD/2 (for OS/2), and Lord/32 (for Windows).
===================================================================

{FINAL CREDITS}
Thanks to Michael Everett, Gary Hartzell, Gordon Lewicky, and
Charlie Wardick for their assistance in beta testing updated
versions in summer 2002.

Special thanks to Charlie Wardick for lessons in learning PASCAL again,
learning how to use Turbo Pascal, and learning LORD programming.

Special thanks to Gordon Lewicky for identifying reason for IGM not
properly generating truly random numbers for determing which IGM
event is executed. Note that the faster the CPU is, the player will
still see some events occur more than others, or perhaps consecutively.
