     Last Config File Structure revision: Nov. 29, 2006.
     -- IGM uses a REALM2.CFG config file as of 11/29/06.

     Current Player Database File Structure:
     -- 6 new VARS added 12/09/06 covering Gems Interest,
     -- Gold Interest, and Fairy Rescue events.
     -- REQUIRES: ROL v1.97+ Beta, ROL2EDIT v1.02+ Beta.

     BBS Door Tool-Kit: IGM currently uses DDIGM v1.01.
     Some parts of DDIGM rely on DDPLUS v7.10 components.

     Monster Database file format: Uses ROL v1.44 structure.
     -- Used by ROL.EXE, RLMEDIT.EXE, and RLSETUP.EXE.
     -- Not used by CONVLORE.EXE or ROL2EDIT.EXE programs.

Important IGM Change Notes:
---------------------------
01/10/10: In the Dungeon, when you acquired a Draconian Sword, the
IGM granted you 25% of your current Strength Points in reward. And
your weapon number was increased by 1. Rewards were too high, so they
are now limited to a max of 500 Strength Points per event.

In the Realm Fights overall, if you found the Magic Orb, it was granting
the Skill Use Points reward twice. Fixed so the player only gets the
reward once per event. Both fixes done in ROL.EXE & in SKELETON.EXE.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------

02/01/10 IGM event reward/penalty notes:
----------------------------------------
1) Players may buy up to 15,000 Healing Potions per purchase.

2) The Old Man charges 1% of Treasury Gold as a Wasted Time Penalty,
	which is limited to a max of 50 Million Gold.

3) In monster & camp fights, the winner's Gold and Experience rewards
	are both limited to 50 Million per fight.

4) In Camp Fights, the winner gets up to 250 Gems from the slain warrior.
	If victim had no gems, the winner gets nothing as to Gems.

5) Power Pellets are limited to max of 500 per day.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------

02/01/10 Glitches removal: 1) Fixed problem where IGM would overwrite
	igm database record #0 with the record of an incoming player.

2) Fixed situation where a player with a valid "is camping overnight" OUT
	file for ROL.EXE was not welcomed back properly as having awakened in
	their camp by the Old Man, when you enter his cabin.

3) Fixed Jan 30, 2010 problem where Gold Interest computation was capable
	of causing the player's Treasury Gold balance to go negative. Similar
	code added to make sure IGM's computation of Gems Interest can't ever
	cause a player's Treasury Gems to go negative.

Effective as of version 1.98.65 beta Feb 01, 2010 compilation.
===================================================================

07/21/08: Max Visits/Day Limit change. With a couple of
exceptions such as Kiteria's LORD Bank, all of my IGMs
will be using 20 as the maximum Visits/Day Limit, based on
feedback from Daryl Stout.

07/23/08: The exceptions are Kiteria's LORD Bank, LORD
Skeleton, and Realm of Lore. Those are all now set to
allow 1-25 visits per day. All three igms contain Banks
so players are allowed to visit more times each day than
my other IGMs.
===========================================================

07/14/2008 Change: Changed IGM's Player Database Backup file
from ROL2BACK.DAT to ROLBACK.DAT.  Programs effected:  ROL.EXE,
RLSETUP.EXE. File is not used by CONVLORE.exe or RLMEdit.exe.
================================================================

08/03/07 Changes:
I've changed ROL IGM to compute Gems Interest at 10% rate
instead of 5%. The max Gems in Treasury a player can have
in the igm has been raised to 2 Million from 1 Million.

Gems Interest per day is limited to 32,600, until I work on
the ANGEL version of the IGM. At that time, max Gems interest
would be 200,000. Without changing the data type of the
Gems_int field in the igm's player database structure, this is
the best I can do right now regarding Gems Interest.

ROL2EDIT has been revised to allow a maximum data range of
0 to 32,600 in the Gems Interest field.
===============================================================

11/23/07 change:

I've discontinued usage of the ROLDEBUG.TXT debug log file.
Hopefully it won't be needed again until I am ready to work
on version 2.00, which will be based on the ANGEL toolkit.

I hope to have that in progress sometime in December.
==============================================================

ROL.EXE was converted from using DDPLUS to use DDIGM on 12-26-2005.

At a later time, it will be converted permanently to use the A.N.G.E.L.
tool-kit which is completely supported by its author Jimmy Rose. Neither
DDIGM or DDPLUS are supported by anyone officially, and are dead tool-kits.

ROL.EXE conversion to ANGEL timetable is unknown. However, all ROL code
has been in testing using ANGEL toolkit & Chasware Library coding in
the LORD Skeleton IGM for over a year. So when I am ready to release
Realm of Lore officially, it won't take long to have ROL.EXE rewritten
so that it is 100% based on the LORD Skeleton's program code. 01/10/10 note.
----------------------------------------------------------------

ROL.EXE and RLSETUP.EXE both use the REALM2.CFG config file, and
the new Setup program (RLSETUP) is running the Monster Database
Editor as of Jan. 17, 2006. A stand-alone monster database
editor utility, RLMEDIT.EXE, is also usable since Dec. 25, 2005.

The RLMEDIT and ROL2EDIT programs do NOT use the REALM2.CFG file.
-------------------------------------------------------------

RLMEDIT v1.00 is officially released as of Dec. 02, 2006.

Online distribution will be done using RLMED10.ZIP archive,
but has not been done yet.
=============================================================

This IGM is in full-time BBS testing. Remember to back up your
LORD PLAYER.DAT, PLAYEXT.DAT, and PLAYEXT2.DAT files *BEFORE*
you use *ANY* new IGM program just in case, there are any problems
that I (or other authors) have not detected and worked on yet.
=========================

ROL2EDIT v1.00, CONVRL10 v1.00:  Both programs were officially
released on Nov. 19, 2006. Both are ONLY for use with ROL.EXE
versions 1.50+ beta through v1.93.5 Beta. Uses ROL2PLAY.DAT file.

** NEITHER utility is COMPATIBLE with ROL v1.97+ Betas. **
=============================================================

ROL2EDIT v1.10, CONVLORE v1.10:    ** READ THIS !!!!! **
-------------------------------------------------------------
(1) They can ONLY be used with ROL.EXE betas dated on/after
Dec. 10, 2006. The IGM has been revised to use a brand new
player database structure, and a NEW player database file name
(ROLPLAY.DAT), as of Dec. 10th, 2007.

(2) Contact me for details on update process if you need help.

To update from ROL v1.93.5 beta: Read section named "Update
Instructions for ROL v1.98.7 Beta:"
=================================================================

See the ROL2EDIT.TXT file for info on using ROL2EDIT.EXE,
which was created on Apr. 11th, 2006. It can ONLY be used
with the ROLPLAY.DAT IGM Player Database file. ROL2EDIT v1.00
was officially released on Nov. 19, 2006 along with CONVRL10.EXE.

ROL2EDIT v1.10 was officially released on Jul. 27th, 2008.
Online distribution is planned for Jul. 27th, 2008.
================================================================

The IGM, along with RLSETUP.EXE, uses FOUR IGM Usage Reports
files, which are stored inside the RL-USAGE.TXT file. All
are based upon player database records in ROLPLAY.DAT. The
fourth report, covering Gems Interest, Gold Interest, and
Banked Power Pellets was created and implemented on 12/15/2006.
===============================================================

Layout of IGM's Config file:  {Added 07/23/2008}
------------------------------------------------
Filename is REALM2.CFG:

C:\INTERNET\LORD\ --> Where LORD is located.
C:\BP7\REALM\UNITS\ --> Where IGM is located.
Donald Tidmore --> First & Last name of Sysop.
Belgarion --> Sysop's primary LORD Name.
CASTLE CAMELOT --> Your BBS or Web-Site Name.
25                           --> Max Visits/Day allowed. (1-25 range)
250                          --> Max IGM Fights/Day allowed. (1-250 range)
POWER ON --> Are Power Moves allowed in Fights?

The last line *MUST* say either POWER ON or POWER OFF.
==============================================================

Installation notes:   {Rewrote on 07/17/2008}

These are the lines put in 3RDPARTY.DAT by Realm of Lore:

<Path to ROL>\ROL.EXE * <path to LORD>
`#Realm of Lore `%v1.98.7 Beta

======================================== Without Color codes:
Example:  C:\BP7\REALM\UNITS\ROL.EXE * C:\INTERNET\LORD\
Realm of Lore v1.98.7 Beta

RLSETUP.EXE will ask you during IGM Installation if you want it
to include the version number data or not in the IGM entry.

On your system, you will use the location you installed the
IGM into for <Path to ROL>, and you would use the location
of your own LORD game for <path to LORD>.
===========================================================

The drive/directory info will be different for you. But the
"ROL.EXE * <LordPath>" portion MUST be used. If you have any
OUT.* files created by Realm of Lore, make sure they also use
"ROL.EXE * <LordPath>" on Line #2. This is VERY important.

If you fail to do this, at some point, either LORD or the igm
will crash when they try to run an illegal instruction. If
that happens, you have no choice but to shut down the current
DOS session. If this happens on a BBS, it will render the
BBS node that was in use unusable until the sysop fixes things.
=================================================================

** IMPORTANT NOTE: 07/15/2008.  Rewrote 07/18/2008 **
-----------------------------------------------------

I've changed the IGM to include the LORD Path on the IGM Command
Line entry in 3RDPARTY.DAT. I ran into a situation while working
on Realm of Lore where I learned that all of my DDIGM-based IGMs
will crash if they encountered a zero-byte IGM config file.

The inclusion of LordPath in the IGM command line allows me to
prevent this situation from occurring again. The igms have no
way to check for zero-byte files. You can check for existence
or non-existence of text files, but you can't determine if they
are empty when you try to access them.

Edit your 3RDPARTY.DAT file manually and add your own LORD
Path to your LORDCAVE.EXE entry lines.

Revised OUT File Handling:   {Effective 07/15/2008}
---------------------------------------------------

All OUT files created previously by Realm of Lore will need to
be manually edited. This is only necessary if they are for players
who are SLEEPING in the IGM's Campgrounds. Those OUT files now
all look like this example:

is camping overnight in the `$Realm of Lore.
C:\BP7\REALM\UNITS\ROL.EXE * C:\INTERNET\LORD\
QUIT

  OUT file in use by warrior: Lady Petra

Analysis: The third line tells LORD to exit to DOS or the BBS
because the player is asleep in the IGM. The fourth line is
blank on purpose. The fifth line was added to help keep track
of which player an OUT file belongs to. In LORD, the info
from Line #1 of OUT files is used to show the Location of Warriors.

It is VERY important that the OUT files made by IGMs contain
valid paths to the IGM's location. LORD might malfunction when
it tried to return a player to an IGM if the igm path info was
incorrect.   (End: 07/18/08 rewrite)
==========================================================

This probably will be understood by long-time LORD BBS sysops, but
ROL.EXE is not intended to be executed outside of LORD. It will
show an error message and a Help Screen and then terminate.
==============================================================

If you use LordMenu, or any IGM Extender utility, their data files
MUST be updated after you revise your 3RDPARTY.DAT file as well.

Make sure you are using LordMenu v1.40, which was officially
released on Jul. 29th, 2007; Distribution done on Jul. 31th, 2007.
  URL:  http://www.filegate.net/camelot/lordfile/lrdmnu14.zip

==================================================
-- Please use the current beta of LordMenu. If you want it,
send me an email at donaldtidmore@comcast.net. I'm working on
getting it to work better with LORD games where the user has
more than 40 igms installed.

URL:  Not updated online often:
      http://camelot.legendarydragons.com/IGM-Beta/lm2-work.zip

Lordmenu section updated Apr. 24, 2008 at 12:38 am.
==================================================

Users also need to make sure that any OUT files that are still
in use in your LORD directory by Realm of Lore, refer to:

  C:\BP7\REALM\UNITS\ROL.EXE *  C:\INTERNET\LORD\

The actual wording will be different for everyone, based on
where they run the IGM from. Why do you need to do this? Because
if the IGM OUT file uses the WRONG command line syntax, when LORD
runs the IGM so a player can "wake up" inside Realm of Lore, that
process probably will malfunction.
-------------------------------------------------------------------

Usage Warning:  Added 02/21/2007:
=================================
I do not provide any support for this IGM's files for users of
versions of DOS LORD prior to v3.50. The only exception is
for usage of RLMEDIT.EXE with prior versions of Realm of Lore,
which don't utilize LORD's player.dat file in any way.

In order for a player to Sleep in this IGM's Campgrounds, the
end-user/sysop/webmaster MUST be using DOS LORD v3.50 or a
later version.
==============================================================

Update Instructions for ROL v1.98.7 Beta:

Use only to update from ROL v1.92 - v1.93.5 betas.
-------------------------------------------------

1) Recommended. Create backup directory inside your IGM directory.
   Move all of the files into the backup directory.

   Disable access to LORD to make sure it is NOT in use. MANDATORY.
   You can NOT do this update while the IGM is in usage.

   Use the ROL-WORK.ZIP, CONVLORE.ZIP, and/or ROL2EDIT.ZIP files.
   Make sure you get them directly from me via Email.

   Unzip files from each archive using Overwrite with new files
   option of your File archive utility.

   Ex. PKUNZIP -n ROL-WORK

2) Copy your existing ROL2PLAY.DAT file to ROLP192.DAT.

   Execute CONVLORE.EXE. It will create the ROLPLAY.DAT file.

   Delete your existing ROLBACK.DAT file -- MANDATORY.
   (If you have an ROL2BACK.DAT file, delete it also.)

3) Run ROL2EDIT.EXE. It will load the ROLPLAY.DAT file. Check
   each record for data problems. Advised but not required:
   Run "Reset Player Stats" option for every record with * key.

   The conversion process did not have any problems when I did it.
   That does not mean it is always going to be error-free. That's
   not possible with Mr. Murphy always lurking somewhere <G>.

   Close ROL2EDIT.EXE. That concludes the update process.

4) Resume usage of LORD and test the IGM immediately.
   It needs to be v1.97+ Betas, and have a Compile Date of
   December 10th, 2006.  Or later version/compile info.

   The Database Restoration file is renamed FROM ROL2BACK.DAT
   to ROLBACK.DAT, as of Jul. 14th, 2008. It must be deleted in
   step #2, if you have the file. This prevents any possibility
   that when you use ROL.EXE again, it might try to use a data
   file that is not compatible with the IGM.

5) Once you are using ROL v1.97+, delete the CONVRL10.EXE and
   ROL2ED10.EXE files, so you are not tempted to use them again.
   Or move them to a storage directory.

That concludes the v1.92 to v1.98 update process.
===============================================================

Old Notations that are still applicable:
=========================================

   The copies of ROL-WORK.ZIP and ROL2EDIT.ZIP that are posted on
   the Fidotel BBS's LORD Archives files area, on BBS Archives
   server, or on my Castle Camelot web-site are not always
   up-to-date.

   If you still have any of these files, delete them. None are
   in use any more. You can also archive them in a zip file.

   ROL2PLAY.DAT, ROLCFG.EXE, ROL.CFG, WOM.DAT, WALL.DAT, ROLP.DAT,
   Any other ROLP*.dat files, ROLP-USE.TXT, ROL.DOC, ROL.HLP,
   INTRO.ANS.

   -- ROL-HELP.TXT replaced the old ROL.HLP file.
   -- ROLWALL.DAT replaced WALL.DAT.
   -- ROLWOM.DAT replaced WOM.DAT.
   -- ROLINTRO.ANS replaced INTRO.ANS.

   The original ROL IGM would install into a sub-directory, but
   it still would maintain a ROL.CFG data file in the LORD game
   directory. That file is no longer in use, and can be deleted
   from the LORD and IGM directories.

   If you are doing a CLEAN update, meaning you don't care about
   saving players' Treasury Gold/Treasury Gems account balances,
   then you can skip using the CONVLORE.EXE program.

   In that case, delete all .DAT files the igm is/was using.

   Run RLSETUP and use Configure Menu to create new config file.

   Then using ROL v1.98.7 Beta, resume normal usage of the IGM.
================================================================

        ** Update from v1.92 to v1.98. MANDATORY for everyone: 11/29/06
   ===============================================================
   The IGM along with RLSETUP now uses REALM2.CFG igm config file.

   The STATUS, SNOOZE, and DEATHTOG values have been permanently
   removed, and REALMCFG.DAT is no longer usable with the IGM.

   Delete your existing REALMCFG.DAT file. Run RLSETUP and use
   the Configuration Menu to recreate a new IGM Config File.

   The IGM will not work until you have done this.
   ============================================================

INSTALL process: Not needed for a Version Update:
This only applies to brand new installations:

   * The IGM will create a REALM2.CFG igm config file. It may
     ONLY have 8 lines in it. The last line must say "POWER ON"
     or "POWER OFF" (without quote marks).

   * It will install the IGM into your LORD 3RDPARTY.DAT file.
   * It will write an install notice to LORD's lognow.txt file.

   When Installation is finished, use the Usage Reports option
   to generate the IGM Usage Reports file. Its contents are
   automatically displayed one screen at a time on-screen by
   the RLSETUP program. Use the Exit IGM option to terminate
   RLSETUP.

   The IGM is now ready for usage in LORD.

   This ends the IGM Installation process.
===========================================================

IGM Limits Info:  {Added 07/15/2008}
------------------------------------
(1) ROL may be used between 1 and 25 times per day.

(2) Players are limited to 250 maximum IGM Fights per Day.

(3) The LordPath and IGMPath Config VARs are limited to 100
    characters in length; Sysop Name and BBS Name are limited
    to 50 characters; Sysop Handle is limited to 20 characters
    in length since its based on the LORD Names stat.

(4) Players may only trade Gems for up to 5 Skill Points per day.

(5) The Treasury Gold account is limited to Two Billion.
    The Treasury Gems account is limited to 2 Million.

    Until I am working on the ANGEL version of the IGM, Max
    Gems Interest per Day is limited to 32,600.

    Maximum Gold Interest per Day is limited to 200 Million,
    but players will never get that much. Once Treasury Gold
    balance reaches 2 Billion, Gold Interest is not computed.

    Once Treasury Gems balance reaches 2 Million, Gems Interest
    is not computed. Both Interest fields are computed ONCE
    per day on the player's FIRST visit of the day to the igm.
#####################################################

How to update from ROL v1.44 to ROL v1.98.7 Beta:
====================================================
1) MANDATORY: Make backup of your ROLP.DAT file as ROLP144.DAT.
   That will be used by the CONVRL10.EXE utility.

   TURN LORD OFF. *NEVER* do IGM installations or updates
   while the LORD game is in use. There's way too many ways
   for things to screw up both with LORD and with the IGM.

   ** Backup *ALL* of your OUT files in the LORD directory,
   so that you can restore them if needed later on. The
   UnInstall process in RLSETUP *WILL* delete any OUT file
   it finds that contains the string "Realm of Lore" inside.

   I suggest creating a temporary directory and copying all
   of the OUT files into it. Also it might be a good idea
   to create a zip file containing all of the OUT files.

2) Uninstall the ROL v1.44 IGM. MANDATORY.

3) Create subdirectory. Move *ALL* of the ROL 1.44 files into it.

4) Obtain ROL2ED10.ZIP and CONVRL10.ZIP from my web-site, or
   get them from me via Email. Get ROL-WORK.ZIP from me.

   A) Unzip ROL2ED10 and CONVRL10 utility archives files using
   overwrite with new files mode. (Pkunzip -n)

   Run CONVRL10.EXE. It will read the ROLP144.DAT file and
   create a ROL2PLAY.DAT player database file. It only transfers
   valid records. The original IGM rolp.dat file always held 150
   records, regardless of the number of players in the LORD game.

   CONVRL10 skips writing records where the LORD Name and/or LORD
   Real Name fields have an "X" in them. That indicates an unused
   or deleted LORD player's record.

   When CONVRL10.EXE is finished. Rename your ROL2EDIT.EXE (the
   one from ROL2ED10.ZIP) to ROL2ED10.EXE. Run that program.
   Visually check all records to see if they look normal. Use
   "Reset Player Stats" option to reset each record. Then
   exit the Player Database Editor.

5) Run RLSETUP.EXE. Use Configuration Menu to create IGM Config
        File. Use Install IGM to install ROL 1.98 into the LORD game.
   Exit RLSETUP when it tells you the Installation process is
   finished.

End of v1.44 to v1.92 beta update conversion section.
-----------------------------------------------------------

Now you are ready to convert from ROL 1.92 to 1.98.7 Beta.

Unzip everything from ROL-WORK using overwrite mode.

Copy rol2play.dat to rolp192.dat.
Delete any ROLBACK.dat (or ROL2BACK.DAT) file that you may have.

Run CONVLORE.EXE v1.10.  It will create ROLPLAY.DAT.

Run ROL2EDIT.EXE v1.10. Visually check all records. The
values for Gems Interest and Gold Interest should be ZERO. The
values for Paid Gems Interest, Paid Gold Interest, and Fairy
Rescue should all be FALSE. Run "Reset Player Stats" on every
record. Exit ROL2EDIT when you are finished.

If you backed up your OUT files, restore them to the LORD
directory at this point. Especially those that belong to
the Realm of Lore IGM. Note that OUT files made by ROL v1.44
*MAY* not be compatible with those used by the igm now.

You may now start using ROL v1.98.7 Beta in LORD. Report any
problems you encounter to me immediately.

Contact me for Assistance if needed:
=======================================

My primary email addresses, checked daily usually, for LORD-related
email are donaldtidmore@comcast.net and gtidmore@hiwaay.net. If either
one fails to work for you, you can also reach me via email using
donald.tidmore@usa.net. That is my permanent email account,
used mostly for newsletters and various mailing lists.

If anyone has trouble with the update process, or with using the
IGM, contact me for assistance. I can be reached by the following
methods:

a) Email: Use the email addresses listed above.

b) U.S. Postal Mail: My address is: Donald Tidmore, 1111 Berenice Street,
   Tuscumbia, AL 35674-3503. If you live outside of the United States,
   add "United States of America" or "USA" -- without the quote marks.

c) Fidonet Mail: In subject line of messages, you have to write
   Donald Tidmore 1:123/450, unless you are replying to one of my messages.

d) LordNews Email mailing list.

   New list has been established in mid-May 2007, and is now
   in full usage.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

ROL.EXE uses and updates these LORD data files: MAIL*.DAT,
ERROR.LOG, PLAYER.DAT, LOGNOW.TXT, INFO.<Node_Num>, MARBARD.DAT,
MARRAGE.DAT, and OUT.* files.

When a player goes to sleep in the IGM, it creates a new OUT
file showing that they are sleeping in the IGM. When a sleeping
player is killed during a Camp Raid, that player's OUT file is
deleted by the IGM.

The ERROR.LOG file is used by LORD itself, and various IGMs, to
record data on RunTime Errors that occur.
================================================================

Healing Potions Usage Policy:  {Effective Nov. 23, 2006}
=========================================================
The old IGM healed ALL injuries for a single Potion, which
only cost a player 50 Gold Coins. That was way too cheap.

Now, players may buy up to 10,000 Potions at a time from
the Old Man at the Cabin. Then each time they Consume
Healing Potions, they either get a complete healing or
a partial healing. Each Potion consumed will heal 100
hitpoints. New event was implemented on Nov. 23, 2006.

LORD charges something like 5 Gold * Game Level for EACH
HitPoint the Healers heal. The IGM's price per potion I
think is reasonable and worthwhile for everyone, regardless
of their Game Level.

IGM Registration:
=======================================================
I don't charge registration fees for any of my LORD programs.
They are all classified as Freeware, with the exception of
LORD programs which I maintain for Jason Brown and Chris
MacPherson. None of my LORD programs require registration
in any fashion. I simply would appreciate knowing who is
using my LORD programs, so please send email feedback on how
each program is working for you now and then.

ROL v1.43 used several ANS data files. None of which were
turned over to me by Paul Mullins. ROL v1.44, released by
Paul Mullins, made the entire IGM fully usable by everyone
by setting all of its IGM events to REGISTERED status.

Once I resumed work on ROL in late 2005, I fixed the IGM so
that nothing was retained that was specifically based on the
sysop user's IGM registration status.

-----------------------------------------------------------
I do NOT have any of the ANS files that were used by ROL v1.43,
and would appreciate anyone who has them sending them to me.
I was unable to get them from Paul Mullins who changed email
addresses before I realized I did not have them. As a result,
ROL.EXE only uses ROLINTRO.ANS Intro Screen file now.

** IGM Notices: Player Death, Gems Interest, Fairy Rescue,
    and Power Pellets, Camp Fight Rewards Info  {11-29-2006}
==============================================================
1. If a player dies in the Realm of Lore, in a Monster Fight,
or in a Camp Fight, they will be sent back to LORD Dead. If
dead player has a Fairy, it will be set free.

2. Fairy Rescue from Death. ** Not implemented yet.

Will only be allowed in Monster Fights and then only ONE time
per day. In Camp Fights, since the Camper can't have a Fairy,
and can't benefit from one as a result, it would be unfair to
allow their attacker to use one.

About the Mystical "Mind Heal" technique: LORD itself allows
it to be used, so my IGMs do so also. But of course, if you
have less than 20 Mystic Skill Use Points, it can't be used.

3. When you kill a Camper, you now get a portion of their Gems.
Unless you have 32,000 Gems already, that is.
As of 01/24/07, Gems reward is max of 50 gems per Camp Fight.

4. Unused Skill Use Points, that are in excess of 100 points,
are "banked" for re-use between visits. IGM will store up to
500 Power Pellets for later usage. IGM is not yet coded to
allow players to withdraw those stored pellets for use in the
IGM, in other igms, and in LORD.

It will take awhile to implement this idea. Ultimately, I
plan something like this to be done. In the Cabin, you visit
the Old Man and request to use some of Unused Power Pellets
from a prior day. He will allow you to withdraw up to 100
pellets, until the Skill Class you are pursuing, has 100 Skill
Use Points accessible to you. If you then change Skill Class,
you can repeat the process, to get remaining Pellets for use.

5. Gold Interest. Was enabled in early Nov. 2006. The IGM
now pays 10% interest on player's Treasury Gold balance each day
that the igm is used.

Treasury Gold accounts can only go up to 200 Billion. Gold
Interest is limited to a maximum of 200 Million Gold. You can
only get Interest on the FIRST visit of the day, WHEN you have
Gold in the Treasury.

6. Gems Interest. Enabled 11/29/2006. IGM will pay 5% Interest
each day on player's Treasury Gems balance.

Treasury Gems accounts can only go up to 1 Million, as of
Dec. 26, 2006. You can only get Interest on the FIRST visit
of the day, WHEN you have Gems in the Treasury. Change from
250,000 to 1 Million Max Treasury Gems is effective 12/27/06.

7. As of Nov. 29, 2006, this IGM no longer uses STATUS, SNOOZE,
and DEATHTOG igm configuration values. The first two were not
even utilized by the IGM, and the third one I decided did not
make practical sense to keep around. The Config File structure
was updated, and the IGM now uses the REALM2.CFG data file.

8. As of 12/10/06, the IGM Player Database file is named
ROLPLAY.DAT, and it now covers these 6 values: Power Pellets,
Gems Interest, Gold Interest, Paid Gems Interest, Paid Gold
Interest, and Fairy Rescue. (Requires ROL.EXE v.94+ beta)

IGM Testing Notes Section:  {Added 10/04/2008}
--------------------------------------------------------------
This IGM has been fully tested under LORD v3.55 through v4.07,
and using the September 2006 compilation of LORD v4.08 Beta.

09/04/08 Notes:
---------------------------------------------------------------
Its development and testing since Sept 2006 has been under the
only compilation of DOS LORD v4.08 beta that was made available
to the public. No one since then, LORD IGM authors-wise, has
been allowed to have more current compilations of the LORD games.

Since none of the BBS LORD programmers have access to current
compilations of DOS LORD v4.08, I can NOT honestly say that
this IGM will work with LORD v4.08 whenever it is finished.

Since I (and other IGM authors) can't test IGMs that we develop
in an up-to-date LORD v4.08 game, I make no promises as to this
program's usability with DOS LORD v4.08 when it is released
by Metropolis Gameport and its author Michael Preslar.
===============================================================

Remainder of file was written by Paul Mullins, and has been
edited to be current information. Donald. 11-15-2005.

------------ Old Docs Section:  03/15/2006 Revision: --------

THE IGM will access any BBS Node that your LORD game can access. Which
theoretically is up to 999 nodes. But no one knows for a fact how many
Nodes LORD versions can actually access, that I am aware of.  (DGT 12/17/05}
==============================================================================

The Realm of Lore Scenario:
------------------------------------------------------------------------
The game setting is in an area not far from LORD's realm, where you find
a cabin occupied by an old man. He possesses four maps to different
realms. Where the player can choose to venture for conquest. Players
must buy healing potions to gain access to the maps, which will allow
regeneration of hitpoints during battle. The old man also offers power
pellets for class skill uses, weapons and armor, learning of class
skills, and the ability to change class. Once players are equipped, they
can journey to a realm of their choice.

You are not allowed to make a journey until you buy at least a few healing
potions. The "power pellets" can be bought only for your CURRENT skill
class, up to a maximum of 127. They can be renewed at the cabin as long
as the Old Man does not run out of them.

------------------------------------------------------------------------
Note: LORD itself does not allow Skill Use Points to exceed 100 points.
If you are using old LORD versions, some limit Skill points and Skill
Use Points to a maximum of 40 points. So once you exit the IGM, any
Skill Use Points over 100 may be eliminated by LORD. They definitely
will be lost when LORD does New Day for Player maintenance at the start
of each new Lord game usage day. Donald. 02/04/2006.

This IGM calls Skill Use Points "Power Pellets". You can only
use the Power Pellets for your current skill class in Fights,
and they only work in Camp Raid Fights if the PowerTog IGM Config
setting is TRUE. They are ALWAYS usable against monsters until
you run out of them. You can buy new ones at the Cabin from the
Old Man.  {paragraph added 11/18/06}
-------------------------------------------------------------------------

There are four Realms in the Realm of Lore IGM. They are the Cave, Forest,
Mountain, and Dungeon. Each realm has its own tale of lore, with enemies
and obstacles pertaining to the realm you are using. To change realms,
you have to return to the Old Man's Cottage, where you can select a new
realm to explore.

There is an online document (ROL-HELP.TXT), describing the lore of each
realm and what to find, within the game. While in a realm, players journey
through it battling a multitude of enemies and other obstacles gaining
experience and gold. Players can also search around while journeying to
gain extra treasures towards LORD/IGM statistics.

There are two stages within each realm. A midway event and a random
event at the end of the realm. Some events are battles, some are tasks of
choice. All events reward players with one or more of gold, experience,
weapons or armor, a child, a horse, etc. One can search for treasure
but you don't always find anything of value.

Players can also set up camp in the realm at no cost, and remain there
overnight. NOTE: You MUST use LORD v3.50 or higher in order to sleep
in the IGM. Older versions of LORD did not offer the ability to sleep
inside IGMs. Whether or not players can raid other player's camp-site
depends on whether the LORD game is v3.50 or higher.

Players can also raid camp-sites of other players too, with the computer
controlling the "camper's" battle. NOTE: The player has to be asleep in
the ROL IGM in order to be attacked. Someone who is asleep, say in The
Outlands Tavern or The Pawn Shop IGMs, can not be attacked using the
Realm of Lore IGM.

The cost of raiding a camp-site is based on gems not gold. Since, more
advanced players have more gold than new players, gems are used and it
costs more gems the greater the difference between the player attacking
and the one in camp. So, a player at level 6 attacking a player at level
12 would cost 60 gems, and vice versa. But a player at level 12
attacking a player at level 11 would only cost 10 gems.

There is also a wall within the cabin for players to converse. Up to 20
messages at a time are written on the wall. Each player can write up to 5
lines of text for each message. LORD's color codes are also supported in
the wall with the addition of blinking color codes. Online help lists the
codes required to enable the colors. The messages from players contain the
writer's name as well as their skill class. Paul Mullins included the class
notification to promote camaraderie within classes.

** This IGM doesn't have a winnable objective, story-line or final goal. Paul
   never got around to writing either of the three, and I doubt that I'll
   create either one myself. Donald. 12/17/05. **

The game is focused on allowing players of LORD another place to battle
monsters and other players, and on aiding them in amassing enough Gold to
purchase new Weapons and/or Armour. All of which ultimately leads to
a player being able to advance up to Level 12, where they can battle the
Red Dragon.

** Added 12/17/05 **  Rewritten 03/15/2006 **
------------------------------------------------
Monster Fights. Each monster you attack inside the IGM costs
you 1 Realm Fight. This does NOT affect your LORD Forest Fights
stat. Players get 1-250 Realm Fights per day, with the actual
amount based on how the end-user/sysop configures the IGM.

Camp Warrior Fights. Each camp fight costs you ONE LORD Player
Fight, plus ONE IGM Realm Fight. If you run out of either one,
you will not be allowed to attack any sleeping warriors. You
are not allowed to attack anyone who is online in LORD, this
IGM, or any other IGMs.

When you run out of Realm Fights, you won't be able to attack
any more Monsters or Campers until the next LORD game day.

There are some NPC characters inside the IGM that occasionally
show up. They are considered as Monsters by the IGM, but are
not listed in the IGM's Monsters Database File - RENEMY.DAT, in
case anyone was wondering about them.

The IGM stores info on those special monsters internally.
==============================================================

[History]: {Written by Paul Mullins} (Rewrote paragraphs 12/17/05)

I developed this game from the beginning with the idea of another place
for players to venture to for conquest. I originally named the game
NOMAD. (Any takers on that name?) But soon I considered multiple regions
for the player to choose for adventure. The first version was very
simplistic. All that it had was the cabin, the choice of healing potions
and where to go. But as igm development progressed, more ideas and IGM
events were added to the program.

I added power pellets to take advantage of the player's skill Use Points
along with using those skills in battle. Then came the learning of such
skills, changing of class, trading of weapons & armor, and several hidden
features along the way. In fact the [S]earch Treasures menu option in the
realm menu was once actually a hidden cheat! But I used it so often while
playing that I figured, heck why not add it to the darn menu! Then I added
more cheats, camping in the realm, raiding a campsite, the wall, a cleaner
menu structure, custom ANSI screen support, and so forth.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------
{ 2005-2007 IGM Notes: }

If you play this game and have any ideas drop me a line I'd like to read them!
IF you spot any glitches, please report them to me via email immediately.

As of early December 2005, there are no longer any IGM sections that players
will see if the game is not registered. The IGM is now 100% Freeware, and
no longer uses Registered status in any way.

The following features are fully enabled for everyone, but some are randomly
executed so you may have to play the IGM for a long time before you've seen
everything that it can do. * All Cheats are active. * Learn special Class
Skills. * Raid camp sites. * Each realm has 2 more random events. * All
users of the IGM have full access to the ROL Monster Editor.

The only things I can not supply to anyone are some 19 ANSI files that the
IGM tries to access, which Paul never sent to me in 2004, and I've been
unable to re-establish contact with him since then. None of the BBS sysops
I know have ever seen those ANSI files either.

Since I don't have those ANS files, all of the IGM code which made references
to those missing ANSI screens has been removed from the IGM permanently, unless
someone is able to get me those ANS files or perhaps recreate them at some
point in the future. Donald Tidmore.

                multi-node news information not to get mixed up.

    As of 12/09/06, IGM is now set up to automatically delete
    those zero-byte NewsLog.* files it was leaving around previously.
    But it only deletes the NewsLog.xxx file for the current player.

                Basically, this is the IGM's "Gossip" file.

# ROLPLAY.DAT   : ROL's players database file.  When ROL.EXE is run for
                the first time in a day, the prior day's ROLPLAY.DAT file
                is processed and recreated so that information on
                sleeping "campers" is retained and protected.

# ROLBACK.DAT : Player Database Restoration file. Created at end
                of IGM Entry Sequence. Used if the IGM loses its
                ROLPLAY.DAT file to recreate the file, thereby saving
                records belonging to all users of the IGM. Some data
                for the current player is lost during process but
                that can't be helped.  {** Renamed on 07/14/2008.}

# ROLWOM.DAT : Wise Old Man's personal information containing how much
                Gold and Gems he has. As people buy weapons, potions,
                etc the amount is added here.

This IGM has been fully tested under LORD v3.55 through
v4.08 Beta's Sept. 2006 compilation. Michael Preslar does
not allow any LORD IGM authors access to newer compilations
of any version of LORD. There is nothing known in the LORD
community via the Fidonet BBS echoes, as of late Jan. 2009,
as to when LORD v4.08 will ever be officially released.

End of 02/01/2009 section rewrite.

10.0  SUMMARY
-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
Your comments, questions, suggestions are welcome and appreciated. I'd
like to know that people are actually using my IGM. :) I've put a lot
of work into it and I hope it is appreciated.

IGM Crashes: If you experience a crash while using the IGM, please
send me a capture log of your BBS session which most comm programs
and Telnet clients are able to generate. Zip it up in an archive
using Winzip, PKzip or some other ZIP-compatible utility, and send
it to me at donaldtidmore@comcast.net (or gtidmore@hiwaay.net).

I will need copies of these LORD data files so I can reproduce
situations that cause IGM problems in my own LORD game: The Play*.dat
files - player.dat, playext.dat and playext2.dat, the lognow.txt and
logold.txt Lord News files, MAIL*.dat files created/modified by the
Realm of Lore IGM, maint.bat, 3RDPARTY.DAT, Error.log, and 3rdalt.txt.

Include ALL files from your Realm of Lore IGM directory in the archive
file. I can use those LORD and IGM data files, especially the IGM's
debug log file (ROLDEBUG.TXT, if it is in use) and the LORD error.log file,
to determine what went wrong. Once I know what causes an IGM glitch, it
can then be fixed.
