IGM Utility: Turgeon's House Player Database Editor (TURGEDIT)

This utility program was created by Donald Tidmore.
TURGEdit is based upon the Chasware LPEdit utility.

TURGEDIT v1.00 -- Official release was done on 10/12/2005.

TURGEDIT v1.10 -- Official release was done on Aug. 31th, 2007.

Compile Date: August 31, 2007.
===========================================================

Section 1: TURGEDIT USAGE NOTES:
------------------------------------------------------------
Note: For access to revise the LORD Player Number field,
use the command TURGEDIT /DEBUG to run the Player Database
Editor utility. ** READ the Warning about this event's
  usage before using it!! **
  ===========================================================

** While TurgEdit is in beta development, everyone is to
     use Turgedit.zip. Otherwise, use TURGED11.ZIP.

** Obtain copy of the TURGED11.ZIP archive. Primary
distribution sources are my Castle Camelot, Camelot
LordNews FDN web-sites. Along with the BBS Archives
web-site and the NightfallGames web-site. The files
     are also available from ftp.legendarydragons.com.

See TURGEDIT.ZIP for documentation files updates that I
periodically post to the Castle Camelot web-site.

  2) Unzip all files from TURGED11.ZIP into your IGM directory,
     using overwrite mode.  E.g.:  pkunzip -n TURGED11.ZIP

  3) Change into Turgeon's House IGM directory. Verify you have
a current TURGPLAY.DAT file. If you don't, then you can't
     use TURGEDIT.EXE.

The player database only tracks ONE day of IGM use.

TURGEDIT can NOT be used without a TURGPLAY.DAT file.

  4) The first time you run the utility, it will ask you for
the path to Turgeon's House IGM directory. Type it in, and
press ENTER to exit the dialog box prompt. TURGEDIT.CFG
file will be created in that directory.

  5) Run TURGEDIT.EXE. If a config file is not in the directory
you run it from, it will ask you to create one - as noted
above. If config file is found, it then checks for existence
of TURGPLAY.DAT file. If one is not found, program will
give error message and quit working.

TURGEDIT has only one screen of data. It shows database
fields in the order they are listed in the player database
record structure (usually). Each value, with one exception,
may be set to any value that is valid for it.

The Lord Player Number field is display-only. That is because
I don't see any valid reason to allow users to fiddle around
     the LORD Player Number field.

NOTES: THOUSE4.EXE is the ONLY program that is normally
allowed to alter a player record's Player Number field, in
regards to the Turgeon's House IGM.

     --------------------------------------------------------
Exception: If the utility is run using the /DEBUG parameter,
then the user is allowed to modify the value of the LORD
     Player Number.

The user *MUST* use extreme caution in doing *ANY* changes
to this field while using the TURGEDIT.EXE utility.

Do *NOT* mess with the LORD Player Number variable's value
UNLESS YOU KNOW ABSOLUTELY that it is invalid. Use either
DOS LORD's LORDCFG.EXE Player Database Editor or my Chasware
LPEdit v1.40 utility to obtain the correct values *BEFORE*
you try to change this IGM database stat's value.

The IGM uses very specific program code in its IGM
Maintenance process for correcting an invalid LORD Player
Number stat's value. Use TURGEDIT to do so *ONLY* if you
are ABSOLUTELY sure that you know what you are doing!!!
     ---------------------------------------------------------

  6) When you exit TURGEDIT, it will resave the TURGPLAY.DAT
file so that any changes you made will be accessible to
     the IGM.

This editor does not use a Delete Record feature. None was
considered to be needed by Turgeon's House IGM.

  Created TURGEDIT.TXT file on Sept. 28th, 2005.
------------------------------------------------------------

About the unusable entries in the Editor screen:
------------------------------------------------------------
There are two entries that you can't alter -- Was Killed Today?
and Fairy Rescue -- which have not been put into usage yet.
They are for use in a later version of the IGM, and of TURGEDIT,
and are not actually in the IGM's Player Database structure yet.

The first one will be used any time the player gets killed
while inside the igm. The second will limit usage of Fairy
Rescue from death to 1 time per day, when it is enabled. Both
will be utilized when the IGM has a new event where Turgeon
comes home unexpectedly and finds a burglar in his house. If
he is in a bad mood, the burglar will be killed. Otherwise,
he/she will most likely get evicted with major hitpoints loss
from the house by Turgeon.

End of Notes for TURGEDIT usage.
