VALEDIT.EXE Information:  December 2007:
===================================================

IGM Utility: LORD Holidays Player Database Editor (VALEDIT)

Status: v1.00. Officially released on Dec. 24th, 2007.

Compile Date:  December 24, 2007.

This utility program was created by Donald Tidmore.
VALEDIT is based upon the Chasware LPEdit utility.
---------------------------------------------------------

04/28/2007 Dedication: Following the death of my BBS friend's
wife, Mrs. Janice Stout, who died on Apr. 26, 2007, I have
dedicated VALEDIT.EXE in her memory. The LORD Holidays IGM
is now dedicated to Gary Hartzell, Daryl Stout, and Janice Stout.
-----------------------------------------------------------

Edited Sept. 03, 2008. Fixed glitch in program's GET Function.

  When the user would change a setting in a dialog box, when
  they returned to the main screen, the cursor would be back
  on the screen, so this code edit should keep the cursor
  deactivated while the editor runs. Utilizes glitch fix devised
  by Dennis Collins back in 2006 when he analyzed a program
  in the KLBEDIT.EXE utility.

Section 1:  VALEDIT USAGE NOTES:
------------------------------------------------------------
  Note: VALEDIT.EXE can only be used with v0.30+ Beta
  of LORD Holidays IGM.
  ==========================================================

  As of Dec. 23rd, 2007, VALEDIT.EXE is officially released
  as v1.00. Distribution will be done on/around Dec. 24, 2007
  using VALED10.ZIP archive.
  ===========================================================

  ** Obtain copy of VALED100.ZIP and VALDAY10.ZIP archives
     from one of my official distribution sites, and use them
     as of Dec. 24, 2007 until I have a new version in
     development sometime in 2008 to cover additional holidays.
  -------------------------------------------------------------

  ** Obtain copy of the VAL-EDIT.ZIP archive. Primary
     distribution sources are my Castle Camelot and Camelot
     LordNews FDN web-sites. Along with the BBS Archives
     web-site's FTP server, the Nightfallgames.com server,
     and the LegendaryDragons.com FTP server. Files will
     also be available from the Fidotel BBS web-site. The
     most up-to-date files will always be on the Castle
     Camelot site at http://camelot.legendarydragons.com/.

     See VAL-EDIT.ZIP for documentation files updates that I
     periodically post to the Castle Camelot web-site.

     While program is in beta development, contact me for
     the latest IGM archives via email.
     ======================================================

  1) Unzip all files from VAL-EDIT.ZIP (or VAL-WORK.ZIP) into
     your IGM directory, using overwrite mode.
     E.g.:  pkunzip -n VAL-WORK VALEDIT.*
     Or     pkunzip -n VALEDIT

  2) Change into LORD Holidays IGM directory. Verify you have
     a current VALPLAY.DAT file. If you don't, then you can't
     use VALEDIT.EXE. It *MUST* be one created on or after
     Feb. 13th, 2007 to be compatible with the utility.

     The player database only tracks ONE day of IGM use.

     VALEDIT can NOT be used without a VALPLAY.DAT file.

  3) Notes on Player Database Restoration File: VALEDIT is
     not meant for use with the VALBACK.DAT file. But the
     file, once renamed to VALPLAY.DAT, can be used with it
     since the two files use the same player database structure.

     Notice: VALBACK.DAT is INTENDED only for use by the
     IGM itself for one purpose only: Restoring the Player
     Database file during IGM operations if it gets deleted
     by accident or on purpose while the IGM is in use.

  4) The first time you run the utility, it will ask you for
     the path to LORD Holidays IGM directory. Type it in, and
     press ENTER to exit the dialog box prompt. VALEDIT.CFG
     file will be created in that directory.

  5) Run VALEDIT.EXE. If a config file is not in the directory
     you run it from, it will ask you to create one - as noted
     above. If config file is found, it then checks for existence
     of VALPLAY.DAT file. If one is not found, program will
     give error message and quit working.

     VALEDIT has only one screen of data. It shows database
     fields in the order they are listed in the player database
     record structure (usually). Each value, with one exception,
     may be set to any value that is valid for it.

     The Lord Player Number field is display-only. That is because
     I don't see any valid reason to allow users to fiddle around
     the LORD Player Number field.

     During initial IGM tests, I have LORD Player Number enabled,
     so use it with EXTREME caution. The IGM identifies player
     records based on this value, along with their LORD Real Name.

  6) When you exit VALEDIT, it will resave the VALPLAY.DAT
     file so that any changes you made will be accessible to
     the IGM.

  This editor does not use a Delete Record feature. None is
  needed by this IGM.

  Created VALEDIT.TXT file on February 14th, 2007.

     End of Notes for VALEDIT usage.
