Note: If sysops and players enjoy using this IGM, I simply ask
      that you consider making a charitable contribution to an
      organization seeking a cure for Diabetes, which I have.

      And you are requested to take some time to THANK the IGM
      authors whose programs you use for the hard work they
      have put into their programs, AND that you THANK your
      BBS Sysops and Webmasters for their hard work in running
      and managing their BBS's.

1.0  DISCLAIMER:
-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-

This is a BBS game written as a hobby. The only warranty given is
that the program will take up a small amount of disk space on your
computer's hard drive, and will run under all versions of Legend of
the Red Dragon that support DOS LORD IGMs.

I use the LORD v3.55 Player Database Format released with LORD
v3.55 by Seth Robinson in all of my DOS LORD programs. Therefore
I can not say if any of them will work with older version of
DOS LORD, such as v3.50 for example.

----------------------------------------------------------------

    DOS LORD v4.07 was officially released on Jun. 07, 2006.
    None of the 32-bit versions have been officially released.

    v4.08 Betas were released with ONE compilation in late
    September 2006 for DOS LORD, LORD/32, LORD for OS/2, and
    LORD for Linux. In the twelve+ months since then, there has
    been no official development of LORD programs -- that has
    been made accessible to the public.

    As of December 24th, 2007, all versions of LORD v4.08 Beta
    still have unresolved problems -- based upon the September
    2006 compilations that I have access to. But none of those
    glitches should prevent this IGM from working properly.

===============================================================DOS LORD v4.07 was officially released on June 07th, 2006.

2.0  INTRODUCTION:
-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
  This is a brand new igm created as a replacement for the
  discontinued Tis the Season Xmas IGM that Ken Weitzel made
  for years. And I felt that someone should have an IGM out
  there that covers several holiday seasons.

  Version 1.00 covers two events: Valentine's Day and Merry
  Christmas. I plan to work on a Halloween event sometime
  in 2008, and perhaps other events at a later date. The Christmas
  event is based on Gary Hartzell's XMAS.RHP script file for
  usage in The Gateway IGM. The Valentine event is loosely
  based on how the Christmas event worked.
  -------------------------------------------------------------

  This IGM's Player Database Editor utility is named VALEDIT.EXE.
  It was created on February 14th, 2007 and will work with any
  compilation of VALENTIN.EXE that is dated on Feb. 13th, 2007
  or a later date. VALEDIT.EXE v1.00 is officially released
  as of Dec. 23rd, 2007.
  -------------------------------------------------------------

  ======================= Program Description/Setting:
  In the Merry Christmas event, you get to use it THREE times
  per visit, as of 12/24/07. As of 12/02/07, there also is a
  FIVE Times per Day limit for using the Christmas event.

  You get to pick between FIVE stockings. Each one contains
  variable presents. Currently they are all in the form of
  Gold Coins, Gems, and Wisdom Points. You can also choose
  to have the IGM randomly pick a stocking for you.

  Players are allowed to open ONE stocking per Christmas Event
  usage. Each Stocking contains 2-3 small rewards.

  There are no negative events. None are planned except perhaps
  for Halloween. Which after all, is about TRICKs as well as
  TREATs.
  ------------------------------------------

  In the Valentine's Day event, you get to use it THREE times
  per visit, as of 12/24/07. As of 12/23/07, there also is a
  FIVE Times per Day limit for using the Valentine event.

  You may only open ONE Heart per Valentine Event usage. Each
  heart is designed to grant 2-3 small rewards.
-------------------------------------------------------------

The Events Test Menu.
========================================
There are SIX options.

1. Run Merry Christmas Event. Can only be done THREE times
   during each Visit to the IGM. May be used 5 Times per Day.

2. View Stats screen. Shows LORD and IGM statistics.

3. Run Valentine's Day Event. Can only be done THREE times
   during each Visit to the IGM. May be used 5 Times per Day.

4. View Usage Reports.   {Added 01/19/07}
   As of 12/21/07, there are Three Usage Report screens.

5 or Q. Executes IGM Exit sequence, which returns player
   to LORD's Other Places Menu.

X: Runs the IGM's Fast Exit mode. It bypasses the prompts
   for viewing the Usage Reports, and for viewing Usage
   Stats, and returns the player back to LORD as fast
   as possible.

When used, Events 1 through 4 return player to the Menu.
=============================================================

3.0:  THE IGM Limits:
==================================================================
  1) IGM is only usable 1-5 Times per Day, as of 12/23/2007.

  2) You can only run Merry Christmas THREE times per visit;
     and you can only open a maximum of FIVE Stockings each day.

  3) If you run Merry Christmas, and choose to NOT open a
     stocking, that does count against the Events usage limit.

     ** It will NOT count against the Event uses per Day Limit.

  4) You can only run Valentine's Day THREE times per visit;
     and you can only open a maximum of FIVE Hearts each day.

     ** If event is used, and player chooses to not open a Heart,
     it will NOT count against the Event uses per Day Limit.

  5) Effective 01/19/07: IGM will only grant a maximum of 20
     Kids per Day; a maximum of 4 Skill Points per Day; and a
     maximum of 10 Skill Use Points per Day.

  6) Players can only gain up to 50,000 Exp Points per event,
     and only up to 1.5 Million Exp Points per Day. 12/23/07.

  7) Players can only gain up to 50,000 Gold Coins per event,
     and only up to 1.5 Million Gold per Day. 12/24/07. This
     covers both Gold Coins that go into the player's Gold In
     Hand pouch, and Bank Notes that when cashed are deposited
     into the player's LORD Bank account.

  No other limits are applicable at current time.
  IGM Limits section completely rewritten Dec. 24th, 2007.

  LORD Holidays v1.00   Configuration Process:
  ======================================
  1) Run VALENTIN Config. Follow on-screen instructions.

  -- Max Visits per Day.  Range is 1-5, default is 3.  {12/23/07}

  -- Max Hearts per Day. Range is 1-5, default is 3. (12/23/07)

  -- Max Stockings per Day. Range is 1-5, default is 3. (12/02/07)

  -- Sysop's Lord name - Also called Sysop Handle sometimes.

  -- Unless you re-install the game, you have to manually update
     3RDPARTY.DAT to the current IGM version data. Which is now:

            LORD Holidays v1.00

     If you have not been using version data, then the changes in
     beta numbers is not something you need to deal with in 3RDPARTY.DAT.
  ======================================================================

  IGMs are only usable in DOS LORD and in LORD for Windows (LORD/32).
  The 32-bit LORD programs are unable to use DOS LORD IGM programs.

  All of my LORD IGMs testing is done using DOS LORD v4.08 Beta,
  which became available in late September 2006.

  All of my personal IGM development since July 2004 has been done under
  Microsoft Windows XP, using Borland Pascal v7.01, in regards to DOS
  LORD programs. All of my LORD/32 programming is done using Virtual
  Pascal.

  If you have more than one LORD game, be sure to double-check values
  in VALENTIN.DAT so that you know which game you are installing the
  IGM into.
  ====================================================================

  Everyone using the IGM gets to view the IGM Usage Reports on-screen,
  with one exception. Those players who have exceeded the Max Visits
  per Day Limit, do NOT get to see those Usage Reports.

  This IGM has 6 data lines. An example is shown below:

C:\INTERNET\LORD\                  <-- LORD Path
C:\BP7\LORDPROG\VALENTIN\UNITS\    <-- IGM directory path
DONALD TIDMORE                     <-- Sysop's Name
BELGARION                          <-- Sysop's LORD Name
CASTLE CAMELOT                     <-- BBS Name
5 <-- Max Visits per Day. Data range: 1-5.
5 <-- Max Hearts per Day Limit. Data range: 1-5.
5 <-- Max Stockings per Day Limit. Data range: 1-5.
===============================================================

4.0  FILES:
-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
The following files are included within LORD Holidays archive:

FILE_ID.DIZ  - Description file (VALENTIN.diz)

VALENTIN.DIZ - backup copy of archive identifier for BBS usage.
VALENTIN EXE - LORD Holidays IGM. v1.00.
               Setup is included inside.
VALENTIN TXT - LORD Holidays docs - this file.

VALEDIT.DIZ - DIZ file for VALEDIT utility.
VALEDIT EXE - Player Database Editor for IGM. v1.00.
VALEDIT TXT - Docs file for VALEDIT utility.

CCL-APPS.TXT - Info on all of my LORD Programming projects.
CCL-PROJ.TXT - Info on late December 2007 and 2008 LORD
               project plans.

* VALENTIN.DAT - Created by IGM when it is installed. Stores all
                 of the IGM Configuration values inside.

* VALTIME.DAT - Used to keep track of change in Day, Month
                 or Year, so IGM knows internally when to reset its
                 data files for a new day's game usage.

* VALPLAY.DAT - Binary player database. Tracks all activity
                 inside IGM by every player.

* VALUSAGE.TXT - Disk file listing content of VALPLAY.DAT.
                 Created automatically when IGM is used by sysop or
                 the end-user. Created when VALENTIN REPORT command
                 is entered from DOS Prompt. Req'd: VALPLAY.DAT file.
                 Contains three IGM usage reports, as of 12/21/07.

* VALBACK.DAT - Backup of the IGM's VALPLAY.DAT player database
                 file. When the IGM is running and VALPLAY.DAT
                 can't be found, it is used to recreate the player database file.

* VALEDIT.CFG - Config file for VALEDIT player database editor.
====================================================================

5.0  INSTALLATION:
-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
    Always obtain current beta archive from me via email. Backups
    posted online on my distribution sites, and on my Castle
    Camelot web-site are not always up-to-date.

    http://camelot.legendarydragons.com/IGM-Beta/val-work.zip

    VALEDIT.EXE v1.00 is officially released as of Dec. 23, 2007;
    but it will probably be Dec. 24 before I have VALDAY10.ZIP
    ready for official release. Both archives will be distributed
    together.
    ============================================================

    1. Unzip VAL-WORK.ZIP into a LORD sub-directory, or into main
       LORD directory. As long as no other IGM uses val*.* names
       that this IGM uses, it will co-exist with other LORD IGMs
       without any problem. The Docs files can be renamed, if
       needed, if there is any file-name conflict.

    2. If you are updating an configuration, run VALENTIN CONFIG.
       It can't be used to change LORD Path or IGM Path.

    3. To install the IGM, from DOS Prompt, type:
       VALENTIN INSTALL

       Follow on-screen instructions, and IGM will be installed into
       your LORD game. IGM announces itself in LOGNOW.TXT, and adds
       its entry lines to 3RDPARTY.DAT. That concludes installation.
       Process creates the IGM's config file: VALENTIN.DAT.

                                IGM Removal:
    1. Change to where you installed the IGM. Type: VALENTIN REMOVE
       Follow instructions, and IGM will be removed from 3RDPARTY.DAT,
       and the VALENTIN.DAT file will be deleted.

    2. Delete the val*.* program/documentation files unless you
       think you may want to keep them around. That concludes
       the IGM removal process.

       Also delete data files like VALTIME.DAT, VALUSAGE.TXT,
       VALBACK.DAT, VALPLAY.DAT, and VALEDIT.CFG unless you plan
       to re-install the IGM later.

       The Un-install process will ask you if you wish to delete
       data files. If you confirm with a Yes response, then you
       have to choose to delete each data file individually. I felt
       this was the best way to do the Uninstallation process.
============================================================

    * Obtain VAL-WORK.ZIP from one of the sources on the Internet,
      preferably one of the sites listed in this file. Or you
      can request the file from me via Email or Fidonet echo mail.

      On Fidonet, you can reach me in the DoorWare echo, DoorGames
      echo, or LORD echo, or via NetMail.

      To be sure you have the most current beta, or official version,
      always check with me.
============================================================

Special Note about the Prompt Dialog Boxes. If you are using
a mouse, just click on a prompt option such as YES. If you're
using keyboard commands, ALT-Y responds to YES prompts, and
ALT-N responds to the NO Prompts. To use a CANCEL prompt,
though, you WILL have to use the Mouse to select those.

They are only used in the IGM's INSTALL, CONFIG, and REMOVE
modes. And they are used in each IGM's Player Database Editor
utility, if the igm has one made for it to date.
=========================================================

Minus LORD color codes, which in general I personally don't use
much myself, this is what the IGM command lines in 3RDPARTY.DAT
should look like. Each person installs programs their own way,
so your directory path will usually be different:

C:\INTERNET\LORD\IGMs\VALENTIN.EXE /N* /GC:\INTERNET\LORD
LORD Holidays v1.00

The actual IGM Path and LORD path values will be different for
most users. But the IGM command line MUST look like the example.

The actual description entry in 3RDPARTY.DAT will contain
LORD color codes. They can be changed to your own preference.

You can have version data or omit it as you wish.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
Note: While using this IGM, you may NOT rename any of these files:
       VALENTIN.DAT, VALTIME.DAT, VALPLAY.DAT, VALENTIN.EXE,
       or VALBACK.DAT.

       Renaming an executable program can sometimes cause it to
       malfunction, or it might refuse to run at all.

       Renaming VALUSAGE.TXT will not hurt anything, but should not
       be done except to make backups of the usage reports file.

       Renaming files will result in IGM usage problems, or keep the
       IGM from working at all. Plus, doing so is a violation of the
       conditions for obtaining technical support. I do not promise
       to provide support to people who disregard these directions.
======================================================================

5.25:  REQUIREMENTS:
  1. Any version of DOS LORD that supports IGMs. Testing was done
     with versions 3.55 through v4.08 Beta.

     The IGM probably is not usable with really old versions of
     LORD such as v3.26, or v3.50, for two examples.

  2. DOS 6.x or later versions. Probably works with DOS v3.xx forward
     as well, but I can't say for sure.

  3. IGM is usable whether LORD is registered or not. NONE of my
     IGMs will EVER change your LORD registration status.
--------------------------------------------------------------------

5.50:  IGM/Utilities Program Testing:
=====================================
    LORD Holidays LORD IGM is tested under DOS LORD v4.08 Beta
    by myself, and with earlier LORD versions by various friends.

    All testing has been done using Windows XP, Service Pack 2.

6.75: SPECIAL THANKS, BETA TESTERS, and DEDICATIONS section:
-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-

Thanks to these friends:
------------------------
Gary Hartzell - For giving me feedback, support, and friendship.
                  And especially for encouraging me to become an LORD
                  IGMs author when I was considering it in May 2002.

Jason Brown - For entrusting me with his LORD IGMs and utilities
                  as their co-author, maintainer, and updater.
                  Also for several long years of LORD friendship.

Charlie Wardick - My primary programming teacher. For over a year
                  of training in how to write LADY scripts in a
                  logical manner, and then in relearning Pascal
                  language and usage of Turbo/Borland Pascal.

Daryl Stout - For doing the initial work for the Valentine's
                  Day IGM event, and for providing some ANSI's
                  for eventual usage with the IGM. And for being
                  a good friend and beta tester for many years.

And to all of my other friends who have gone through my evolution
as a LORD games programmer since February 2002, by testing my new
Lady scripts, and LORD IGM/utility beta compilations, over those
many months. Oh yeah, and most of all, for putting up with my
tendency to write occasionally LONG email messages to them <G>.
------------------------------------------------------------

Beta Testers: Tom Dominick, Michael Everett, Paul Romine,
    Wayne Brown, Daryl Stout, and Dennis Collins.
    And a few others here and there.

    The main reason this IGM is fully functional so fast is that
    it was created using my LORD Skeleton template IGM, in case
    anyone is curious. Jan. 15, 2007 note.

    ANGEL (or A.N.G.E.L.) stands for Atlantis Networking Game
    Engine Library. ANGEL version 1.00 is copyright 2002-2010
