0.25: Important Program Changes Info:
-------------------------------------

05/31/2008 Update notes:
---------------------------------------
1) Added usage of VIO2BACK.DAT player database backup file.

2) Rewrote INSTALL/CONFIG/REMOVE/REPORT unit file's code.

3) IGM still has same config file and player database
structures as v1.20 used, so VIO2EDIT.EXE will work
just fine with the new beta's VIO2PLAY.DAT database file.
---------------------------------------------------------

07/21/08: Max Visits/Day Limit change. With the exception
of the three igms that contain Banks, and Outlands Tavern,
all of my IGMs are now using 20 as the maximum Visits/Day
Limit, based on feedback from Daryl Stout.
{ ---------------------------------------------------------- }

07/23/08 Changes: In the Backyard's three events that grant
Experience Points, and in Rosie's Sit Down event, Level 1-3
players are limited to a lower amount than higher-level players.

Due to abuse of this igm by low-level players, especially in
regards to the Fights with Cook and Uncle, no one below Level
4 is now allowed to fight either NPC. This should prevent that
particular abuse situation from occurring again. Deals with
situation reported to me by Daryl Stout in mid-July 2008.
---------------------------------------------------------

07/27/08: Updated the Player Database structure used by
Violet's Cottage II. The IGM no longer uses a NPC named
Violet's Father, which has been replaced by Violet's Uncle.
Too many people thought that when they defeated the NPC
they were defeating/killing LORD's Master Turgon.
---------------------------------------------------------

07/31/08: Rewrote ATM Service event code. Reduced maximum
Experience Points per day Limit to 50 Million.
---------------------------------------------------------

08/10-11/08: Revised part of igm's player database structure.
Wisdom Points changes. Increased Max Wisdom/Day limit to 75 Million.
Changed Cook & Uncle NPC's Experience value when they are killed
to 10 Million. Reward is still only granted once per day per NPC.

Decreased Experience reward from "Sit Down with Rosie" event (08/11/08)
from 10% of player's Exp to 2.5%. Added 12% Experience penalty if player
kills Cook twice, and gets punished by Lady Violet (08/11/08).
--------------------------------------------------------------

01/12/2009: Current Experience Limits. Players can get a
maximum of 17.5 Million Exp. Points per NPC Kill - but they
*ONLY* get the Experience Points if the player has NOT
previously killed that NPC earlier in the day. Players can
get a maximum of 75 Million Exp Points PER DAY from *ALL*
igm events.
---------------------------------------------------------

12/12/09 Changes: Rewrote IGM code to make sure the IGM will
immediately terminate execution if any of these events occur
during IGM entry sequence:

1) IGM is unable to find its IGM Config File.
2) IGM is unable to find LORD's player.dat file.
3) IGM is unable to find LORD's INFO.<node number> file.
============================================================

12/15/09 Change: Added REPAIR module for use in recreating
the IGM Config File, without having to do the full IGM
installation process again.

01/19/10: Added Delete Current Player option to VIO2EDIT.
The feature only works if the /DEBUG parameter is used.
Requires v1.10 of VIO2EDIT, Jan. 19, 2010 (or later) compilation.

-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
1.0  INITIAL NOTES Section:
-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-

The Violet's Cottage II is a rewrite from scratch, based upon template
used from the Love Shack II IGM. Like Love Shack II, this IGM is also
done as a tribute to Trevor Herndon and as a programming challenge.

This new IGM works similarly to how Violet's Cottage v5.30p works, but it
is updated to give the player some more value in various IGM events.

As with the original, the male player gets to interact with Violet, her
sisters, and her Uncle and brother. The female player gets to visit
Ma and Pa on the porch, and then use the various events from the original
IGM that are oriented to the lady warrior.

My version allows the male player to use the Female player events, and
vice-versa. Any LORD news entries made under such circumstances indicate
the player was magically transformed to the opposite sex. It also
allows the player to use an ATM Service to deposit/withdraw gold from
their LORD bank account at IGM entry, and at IGM exit (if they are alive).
------------------------------------------------------------------

IGM uses: The IGM only allows ONE adventure per visit, and then it
sends the player home. Everyone is limited to a maximum Daily Visits
Limit of 20, which is sysop-configurable from 1 to 20.

If player tries to fight an NPC and is not allowed to do so, the IGM
will allow them to make a different choice in the current IGM section.
This applies only when player has used up the 2 NPC Fights they are
allowed to have with the NPC in question. And it only applies in the
Den and Kitchen events.

Players are allowed 2 NPC fights each day with the Cook, Heidi,
and 2 NPC Fights with Violet's Uncle each day. There is a total
of 4 NPC Fights allowed each day.
============================================================

IGM History Summary:
-------------------------
Jan. 26, 2004: Began work on IGM, using Love Shack II v2.00 code
               files for template. v0.10 alpha.

Dec. 25, 2004: Finished beta testing of IGM. Did official release as v1.00.
=========================

Jun. 16, 2005: Resumed DOS Lord development of IGM.
    -- Changes: (1) IGM now repairs negative/over-range LORD
       stats at IGM entry/exit automatically. (2) Second
       Usage report added in Vc2Usage.txt data file, and
       second Usage report screen added during IGM exit process.
       (3) IGM now asks if user wishes to include version #
       info in 3rdparty.dat during installation. (And 4) IGM's
       ATM Service code is updated.

Sept. 30, 2005: Revised IGM's handling of over-range LORD Stats.
       The IGM now handles reset of these over-range stats: Game
       Level, Experience, Gold in Hand, Gold in Bank, Weapon Number,
       Armour Number, the Skill Points stats, and the Skill Use
       Points stats.

Oct. 12, 2005: Finished development cycle of Vio2edit.exe and
       the IGM. Released VIO2EDIT player database editor utility
       offically. Released Violet's Cottage II v1.20 officially.
=================================================================

Limitations:
=================
1) Kill Cook in Fight: The Experience Points rewarded are limited to
   5 Million points per visit. Kill Violet's Uncle in Fight. Its Exp.
   points reward is limited to 17.5 Million points per encounter. Both
   events are subject to the 75 Million exp points/Day reward limit.

   Without exception, players are granted Rewards for killing either
   the Cook or Violet's Uncle, just ONE time per day.

2) Due to space limits on length of data lines that can be displayed on-screen
   in the IGM Usage Report, the IGM database fields for Experience,
   Max HPs, Strength, Defense, Charm, Gems and Lays had to be limited.

   The IGM will only grant up to 5 Lays per day; up to 999 Gems or Max HPs
   per day; and up to 9,999 points/day for Strength, Defense, and Charm.

   Actual amounts for a LORD stat received by the player may be greater
   than what is recorded for them in the IGM player database.

3) Players may only get ONE strength points reward per day from drinking
   the Lemonade, while visiting Ma and Pa on the Porch.

4) Players may only get ONE Max Hitpoints reward per day from the
   Rename Weapon event, in the Den. The player interacting with Archon
   may only receive ONE Defense Points reward per day, when they rename
   their Armour similarly.

5) Like the Kill Cook and Kill Uncle events, players may only gain
   up to 75 Million Exp points per day using "Sit Down with Rosie" event.

6) Players who are killed in IGM by the Cook or Violet's Uncle, and who
   have a Fairy, will be revived from death ONE time per day. If player
   returns to IGM again in same day and is killed again, with or without
   a Fairy, they will stay dead until the next LORD game day.

7) Effective Jul. 23rd, 2008, no one below Level 4 is allowed to
   fight Violet's Cook or Violet's Uncle. Too many people were
   abusing the IGM's events to gain enough Experience to jump
   from Level 1 to Level 12 in a single day, using my IGM. So
   this change has been added to prevent that from occurring again.
========================================================================

Special Notes:
1) Players are not guaranteed a sure thing when they fight Violet's
   Uncle, as occurred in Trevor's IGM. They can get killed in this IGM
   when they attack her Uncle.

   The character used by Trevor Herndon in the original Violet's
   Cottage IGM was called Violet's Father. Who in LORD Faqs is
   LORD's Master Turgon. But nothing you did in this igm with
   the NPC Violet's Father had *ANY* effect on a player's status
   in LORD itself, as to their Game Level. Killing an NPC is
   NOT the same as fighting and defeating LORD's Master Turgon.

   To end this confusion, the IGM is now permanently using a
   Violet's Uncle NPC, as of Jul. 27th, 2008.

2) Running away from a fight: I handled this the way LORD does. You get
   a 50% chance of success. And the fight you run away from counts
   towards the NPC Fights Limit(s).

3) If the male player chooses to use Female Player events, any Lord News
   entry made about them will indicate they were Female during the
   adventure. If player is female, using the Male Player events, their
   Lord news entry refers to them as being male. The player's LORD sex
   status is not actually changed by the IGM. They simply get referred
   to as having had a magical, temporary sex change to the opposite gender
   during whichever adventure they had that involves getting Laid.

============================================================

2.0  INTRODUCTION:
-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
  ======================= Program Description/Setting:
  Visit Violet's Cottage II, the brand new home for Violet and her
  sisters. The IGM's maximum visits/day setting is 10. The sysop may
  choose to use between 1 and 10 visits per day during IGM configuration.

  Stats screen - Shows most of the Lord stats one usually wants
  to know about, including actual numbers for Skill Points.

  IGM Usage Reports: Is automatically shown as the player exits the IGM.
  The usage report shows Player's Name, Visits Today, Charm, Defense,
  Strength, Gems, and Experience Points. The Lord stats only show data
  if the value is positive, otherwise they will be listed with zeroes.

  ATM Service: Make Gold deposits or withdrawals. The player may
  use the ATM as they approach the cottage. A second use is allowed
  as the player exits the IGM, *IF* they are alive. Afterwards the
  IGM continues the final exit process, and player is returned to LORD.
  ==================================================================

      Installation, Configuration Change, and IGM Removal Notes:

  VIOLET2 INSTALL - Runs the IGM Installation process.
  VIOLET2 CONFIG - Allows user to change Sysop Handle or Max Visits/Day
                    to different settings.
  VIOLET2 REPORT - Generates new/updated IGM usage report disk file.
  VIOLET2 REMOVE - Runs the IGM un-installation process.
  =============================================================

  Violet's Cottage II -- Configuration Process:
  ======================================
  1) Run VIOLET2 Config.  Follow on-screen instructions.

  -- Max Visits per Day. Range is 1-20, default setting is 10.

  -- Sysop's Lord name - Used by some IGM code occasionally.

  -- The IGM's 3rdparty.dat entry should look like this, minus LORD
     Color codes: Violet's Cottage II v1.37.7 Beta

  -- Always double-check the values in VIOLET2.DAT to be sure you
    are using the correct values for each LORD game you have, if
    there is more than one.

  Usage of VIOLET2 CONFIG command is limited to changes of the Max Visits
  per Day and Sysop Handle variables. If you need to change any other
  variables, un-install the IGM and then do a re-installation.
  ====================================================================

  IGM Removal Notes:

  Run VIOLET2 REMOVE and follow the on-screen instructions.
  ==================================================================

  Brand new installation:

  This igm is stand-alone from the original Violet's Cottage IGM. I've
  chosen filenames that make logical sense for this particular igm.

  Like Gem Trader, it is designed to work with other Lord IGMs in
  the same directory though - provided there is no filename conflicts.

  IF any other IGM, none of which I am aware of, uses one or more of
  these files -- VIOLET2.DAT, VC2USAGE.TXT, and VIO2PLAY.DAT --, this
  IGM *SHOULD* be installed in its own directory to work correctly.

  Run VIOLET2 INSTALL and follow the instructions shown on-screen.
  Verify entries made to 3rdparty.dat and lognow.txt files.

  If you use LordMenu, remember to update its data files whenever
  your 3rdparty.dat file is updated.

  Then start playing LORD with the IGM.
  ===============================================================

  This IGM was created primarily because I figured I could do the
  job, and as my way of doing a tribute to Trevor Herndon. It is
  usable alongside his original IGM, or as a replacement for it.

  I do not advocate running both Violet's Cottage and Violet's
  Cottage II from the same directory, but they will not conflict
  with other, since they use different file names.
  ===============================================================

  Usage of VIOLET2 REPORT command.
  ===================================
  When executed, the igm's VIO2PLAY.DAT file MUST be present, or the
  process will terminate immediately. It will create or update the
  vc2usage.txt reports file, then after a few seconds delay,
  automatically display the report on-screen. There is no way to
  show the data in color, that I am aware of.
  =================================================================

  Updating from Version 1.00 of the IGM:
  =========================================
  1) I've changed IGM's player database to use Wisdom as VAR name
     for Experience Points, instead of Exp. Users of beta
     versions dated on/after June 16th, 2005 must delete their
     pre-existing VIO2PLAY.DAT player database file before using
     this new IGM release.

  2) Unzip files from VC2-WORK.ZIP distribution archive
     using overwrite mode - PKUNZIP -N VC2-WORK

  3) Manually update 3rdparty.dat to indicate version # change
     from 1.00 to 1.37.7 Beta. If you are using LordMenu, update
     its data files.

  4) Resume normal usage of IGM in LORD.

  5) Do not try to use VIO2EDIT.EXE until after at least one
     person has used the IGM in a LORD game session. Avoid
     running the editor while the IGM is in use also.
  --------------------------------------------------------------

3.0  FILES:
-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
The following files are included within the Violet's Cottage II archive:

VIOLET2 DIZ Violet's Cottage II DIZ file
VIOLET2 EXE Violet's Cottage II IGM v1.37.7 Beta
VIOLET2 TXT Violet's Cottage II - IGM documentation

VIO2EDIT.EXE - VC II Player Editor utility.   v1.10, non-beta
VIO2EDIT.TXT - VIO2EDIT documentation file.
VIO2EDIT.DIZ - BBS data file used with VIO2EDIT.

FILE_ID.DIZ  - Description file (VIOLET2.diz)

CCL-APPS.TXT - Info on official IGM releases, and current betas.
CCL-PROJ.TXT - Info on upcoming LORD programming project plans.

VIOLET2.ANS - ANSI file used by the IGM.

* - Files created during IGM installation, or after each usage in LORD:
=======================================================================
* VIOLET2.DAT - Created by IGM when it is installed. Stores
      LORD Path, IGM path, Sysop Name, Sysop Handle, BBS Name,
      and Max Visits/Day fields. IGM will NOT run without
      this file. Its presence is mandatory.

* VIO2TIME.DAT - Used to keep track of change in Day, Month or
      Year, so IGM knows internally when to reset its data files
      for a new day's game usage. If file does not exist when IGM
      starts execution, a new one is automatically created.

* VIO2PLAY.DAT - Binary player database. Tracks all activity
      inside IGM by every player. Automatically deleted, then
      recreated when the first player user of a new LORD game
      day enters the IGM.

* VC2USAGE.TXT - Disk file listing content of VIO2PLAY.DAT.
      Created automatically when IGM is used by sysop or
      the end-user.  Created/Updated when VIOLET2 REPORT command
      is entered from DOS Prompt. Required: VIO2PLAY.DAT file.

      File contains two usage reports, as of 06-16-2005.

* VIO2EDIT.CFG - Created first time you use the player database
      editor utility. Tells utility where the IGM's database
      file is located.
====================================================================

4.0  INSTALLATION:
-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
    1. Unzip VC2-WORK.ZIP into a LORD sub-directory, or into main
       LORD directory. As long as no other IGM uses VIOLET2.* name,
       or any of the data file's names, it MAY co-exist with other
       LORD igms without any problem.

       The Docs files can be renamed, if needed, if there is any
       file-name conflict. *But VC2USAGE.TXT and the .DAT files can
       NOT be renamed. They are hard-coded inside the IGM.

       -- IGM Version 1.20 Official Release archive:
       http://camelot.legendarydragons.com/Lordapps/viocot12.zip

       Copies of the IGM will also be available from my Camelot LordNews
       FDN site, the NightfallGames.com files server, and the
       BBS Archives web-site.

       Copies of Vio2edit utility archive will also be available
       from those sources.
       --------------------------------------------------------

    2. From DOS Prompt, type: VIOLET2 INSTALL

       Follow on-screen instructions, and IGM will be installed into
       your LORD game. IGM announces itself in lognow.txt, and adds
       its entry lines to 3rdparty.dat. That concludes installation.

    3. If using LordMenu utility, remember to re-run Lordmenu.exe and
       update the 3rdalt.txt menu file. Otherwise, when you enter
       LORD you would not see an entry to run Violet's Cottage II
       v1.00 from in the Other Places Menu screen.

                                IGM Removal:
    1. Change to where you installed the IGM. Type: VIOLET2 REMOVE

       Follow instructions, and IGM will be removed from 3rdparty.dat,
       and the VIOLET2.dat file will be deleted.

    2. Delete the IGM's files unless you think you may want to keep
       them around. That concludes IGM removal process. Also delete
       files like VIO2TIME.dat and VIO2PLAY.DAT, unless you think you'll
       re-install the IGM at a later time.

    3. If you are updating from IGM version 1.00, the quickest
        way is a manual update of 3rdparty.dat file, as indicated
        earlier in this file. Alternately, you can un-install the
        IGM and then re-install it. Otherwise, the only update
        work needed is to unzip the files in VC2-WORK.ZIP into your
        LORD IGM directory.

        You have to delete your current VIO2PLAY.DAT file *IF*
        you have NOT been using the beta versions released since
        June 16, 2005.

                                IGM Usage Reports:
    This probably is obvious, but you can not use VIOLET2 REPORT mode
    until someone has actually used the IGM at least once. It requires
    a player database file, and you won't have one, until the IGM has
    been used by someone.
================================================================

Minus LORD color codes, which in general I personally don't use much
myself - or I tweak to my own favorite colors, - this is what the IGM
command lines in 3rdparty.dat should look like. Each person installs
programs their own way, so your directory path will usually be different:

C:\INTERNET\LORD\SHACK\VIOLET2.EXE /N* /GC:\INTERNET\LORD
Violet's Cottage II v1.37.7 Beta

(The actual description entry in 3rdparty.dat will contain LORD
color codes. The codes can be changed to your own preference. )

----------------------------------------------------------------------
Note: While using this IGM, you may NOT rename any of these files:
       VIOLET2.DAT, VIO2TIME.DAT, VIO2PLAY.DAT, VIOLET2.EXE, and
       VC2USAGE.TXT. The ANSI file - VIOLET2.ANS - may not be
       renamed either, or the IGM will not be able to use it.

       Renaming files will result in IGM usage problems, or keep the
       IGM from working at all. Plus, doing so is a violation of the
       conditions for obtaining technical support. I do not promise
       to provide support to people who disregard these directions.

4.5  LORDMENU Information:    {Added 12/26/2008}
-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-

The LordMenu program is currently developed and supported by me.
I took over its development and support when it stopped working
correctly in 2006, and needed to be fixed. Which was done with
assistance from Dennis Collins. LordMenu v1.40 was officially
released on July 29th, 2007. Distribution was done on July
31th, 2007. And LordMenu v1.50 was offically released on
August 29th, 2008.

5.0   REQUIREMENTS:
-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-

  1. Any version of LORD that supports IGMs. Testing is being done
     solely with LORD v4.07 beta - but will be used by other beta
     testers using other LORD versions.

  2. DOS 6.x or later versions. Probably works with DOS v3.xx forward
     as well, but I can't say for sure.

  3. IGM is usable whether LORD is registered or not, as currently
     written.
=================================================================

IGM Testing Notes Section:   {Added 10/05/2008}
--------------------------------------------------------------
This IGM has been fully tested under LORD v3.55 through v4.07,
and using the September 2006 compilation of LORD v4.08 Beta.

IGM Testing: Done under Microsoft Windows XP SP1 (v1.00) and
MS Windows XP SP2 (v1.20) in 2005. Original testing for v1.00
was also done under Microsoft Windows Millenium Edition in 2004.
All IGM development since mid-October 2008 has been under MS
Windows XP Home Service Pack 3.

Vio2Edit Testing: Done using Microsoft Windows XP SP2 and SP3.

The IGM is also being tested using DOS LORD V4.07 in a
Synchronet BBS setup on my Win-XP system.
-------------------------------------------------------------

09/04/08 Notes:  Revised 01/28/2009.
---------------------------------------------------------------
Its development and testing since Sept 2006 has been under the
only compilation of DOS LORD v4.08 beta that was made available
to the public. No one since then, LORD IGM authors-wise, has
been allowed to have more current compilations of the LORD games.

Since none of the BBS LORD (IGM/Utility) programmers have access
to current compilations of DOS LORD v4.08, its impossible to be
100% certain that our programs will work with DOS LORD v4.08
whenever it is officially released.

6.0  FEATURES:
-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
    User may do the following in Violet's Cottage II IGM.

    -- When you first enter the IGM, you can choose to play
       as a Female Warrior or as a Male Warrior. The IGM is
       set up with two separate sets of events depending on
       the LORD Gender (Male/Female) chosen by the player.

    -- View current LORD stats at different places in IGM.

    -- You can visit IGM up to 20 times each day. Unless your
       sysop sets up the IGM for one time/day usage.

    -- Use ATM service to deposit/withdraw Gold from LORD Bank account.

    -- Have ONE adventure in the IGM per visit. E.g., if
       you go to see Violet in the Basement, you won't be
       allowed to do anything else afterwards in the IGM.

    Note: Stats screen gives accurate reporting of Skill points and
    Skill use points when they exceed 40, unlike LORD itself. If a
    Skill is 40+ points, the word (MASTERED) is shown beside it.

7.0  SPECIAL THANKS TO:
-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-

Gordon Lewicky - He taught me most of what I know about LADY Script
                  programming, and has done diagnostic work on all of
                  my complex LADY Scripts when they had glitches. Gordon
                  died in early July 2005. He will be missed by many
                  people who were his friends.

Jason Brown - For entrusting me with his LORD IGMs and utilities
                  as their co-author, maintainer, and updater.
                  Also for several long years of LORD friendship.

Charlie Wardick - My primary programming teacher. For over a year
                  of training in how to write LADY scripts in a
                  logical manner, and then in relearning Pascal
                  language and usage of Turbo/Borland Pascal.

Stephen Gibbs - For testing my IGMs on his BBS and making sure for me,
                that they run correctly when played over a com port.

Thanks as usual to Mike Ciesiensky, Kenneth Padgett, Chris MacPherson,
Jason Brown, and Robert Fogt for entrusting their IGMs to me for support
and development over the 2002-2005 period that I've been working on LORD
programming. In particular, I thank Chris for letting me take over Pawn
Shop development, since it especially challenged me to learn new ways
to get various IGM events to work properly.

And to all of my other friends who have gone through my evolution
as a LORD games programmer since February 2002, by testing my new
Lady scripts, and LORD IGM/utility beta compilations, over those
many months. Oh yeah, and most of all, for putting up with my
tendency to write occasionally LONG email messages to them <G>.

8.0  DEDICATION:
-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
This IGM is dedicated to my friend Trevor Herndon, who created the
original Violet's Cottage IGM many years ago. I've lost contact with
him over time in 2004, so I hope if he ever checks out this IGM, that
he will have enjoyed seeing the original Violet's Cottage dusted off
and brought back to life again.

As noted earlier, VIO2EDIT is dedicated to the memory of Roy Rogers.
The IGM's secondary dedication is to Roy Rogers' memory also.
==================================================================

The original Love Shack IGM was created by Trevor around 1995 using
DDPlus v7.1 and Borland Turbo Pascal v7.0. Due to theft of his
computer system and computer files in 1998, Trevor Herndon is unable
to provide any support or registrations for his LORD programs today.

All of them are fully usable to varying degree now, on modern Pentium
II+ based systems, after being RTE200-patched in 2002 by myself, with
Trevor's permission and authorization.

----------------------------------------
Violet's Cottage II is designed with the following programming software:
   Borland Pascal v7.01, ChasWare Library Routines by Charlie Wardick,
   The Atlantis Networking Game Library v1.00 by Jimmy Rose, and
   portions of Techno's TurboJock Toolkit -- used in the IGM's Config
   functions.

IGM Crashes: If you experience a crash while using the IGM, please
send me a capture log of your BBS session which most comm programs
and Telnet clients are able to generate. Zip it up in an archive
using Winzip, PKzip or some other ZIP-compatible utility, and send
it to me at donaldtidmore@comcast.net (or gtidmore@hiwaay.net).

Also include copy of the IGM's data files such as VIO2PLAY.DAT. Copies of
the LORD game's play*.dat files, if included, will help with analyzing what
caused your IGM crash. Please also send your LORD game's ERROR.LOG file if
it records error messages created by Violet's Cottage II.

When trying to identify cause of a problem, there is no such thing as
too much info to study.

2) I am supporting Free World II, an Lord/32 IGM created by Chris
   Martino, which was abandoned when he disappeared in late May
   2005. That is the only LORD/32 IGM that I currently support.

I will most likely never do another LORD/32 program due to the
100% lack of interest in Lord/32 igms. If there is any one who
does want more Lord/32 igms, they can contact me and make
arrangements to create them themselves.

============================================================

07/27/08: Updated the Player Database structure used by
Violet's Cottage II. The IGM no longer uses a NPC named
Violet's Father, which has been replaced by Violet's Uncle.
Too many people thought that when they defeated the NPC
they were defeating/killing LORD's Master Turgon.

07/31/08: Rewrote ATM Service event code. Reduced maximum
Experience Points per day Limit to 50 Million.

01/12/2009: Current Experience Limits. Players can get a
maximum of 17.5 Million Exp. Points per NPC Kill - but they
*ONLY* get the Experience Points if the player has NOT
previously killed that NPC earlier in the day. Players can
get a maximum of 75 Million Exp Points PER DAY from *ALL*
igm events.
=========================================================

07/21/08: Max Visits/Day Limit change. With the exception
of the three igms that contain Banks, all of my IGMs are now
using 20 as the maximum Visits/Day Limit, based on feedback
from Daryl Stout.
{ ---------------------------------------------------------- }

Deals with
situation reported to me by Daryl Stout in mid-July.

IGM Utility: Violet's Cottage II Player Editor

VIO2EDIT v1.00 -- Officially released on Oct. 12, 2005.

    -- Development started on Aug. 04, 2005.
    -- Development ended on Oct. 12, 2005.
    -- For usage only with the DOS LORD IGM.

    -- Requires you to have a current VIO2PLAY.DAT file.
    -- You also need to be using v1.08+ of this utility,
       and Violet's Cottage II v1.21+ betas.

  Violet's Cottage II v1.20 was released on Oct. 12th, 2005.
  ===================================================================

Dedication Info:
    This IGM is dedicated to Violet's Cottage's author Trevor
    Herndon, and to an old BBS friend, Lloyd Hannesson.

    The VIO2EDIT player database editor is dedicated to the
    memory of Roy Rogers, as of 09-28-2005.
=============================================================

  VIO2EDIT Usage Notes:
  =======================================
  VC II is abbreviation for Violet's Cottage II.

  Player Database Editor utility is being released at same
  time as the IGM. Use either VIO2EDIT.ZIP or VC2-WORK.ZIP
  to obtain the player database editor files.
  -----------------------------------------------------

  ** Obtain copy of the VIO2EDIT.ZIP archive. Primary
     distribution sources are my Castle Camelot, Camelot
     LordNews FDN web-sites. Along with the BBS Archives
     web-site and the Nightfallgames.com files server.

     See VIO2EDIT.ZIP for documentation files updates that I
     periodically post to the Castle Camelot web-site.
     ======================================================

  1) Primary distribution sources are my Castle Camelot, Camelot
     LordNews FDN web-sites. Along with the BBS Archives
     web-site and the Nightfallgames.com files server.

     http://camelot.legendarydragons.com/LordApps/vcedit10.zip
     http://camelot.legendarydragons.com/LordApps/viocot12.zip
     - Castle Camelot Lordapps sub-directory.

     http://www.filegate.net/camelot/lordfile/vcedit10.zip
     http://www.filegate.net/camelot/lordfile/viocot12.zip
     - Camelot LordNews FDN's LordFile sub-directory.

  2) Unzip all files from VIO2EDIT.ZIP into your VC II IGM
     directory, using overwrite mode so you get the newest files.

  3) Change into the VC II IGM directory. Verify that you have
     a current VIO2PLAY.DAT file. If you don't, then you can't
     use VIO2EDIT.EXE. The player database file has to be one
     that was created on or after August 04th, 2005.

  4) The first time you run the utility, it will ask you for
     the path to the VC II IGM directory. Type it in, and
     press ENTER to exit the dialog box prompt. VIO2EDIT.CFG
     file will be created in that directory.

  5) Run VIO2EDIT.EXE. If a config file is not in the directory
     you run it from, it will ask you to create on - as noted
     above. If config file is found, it then checks for existence
     of VIO2PLAY.DAT file. If one is not found, program will
     give error message and quit working.

     VIO2EDIT has only one screen of data. It shows database
     fields in the order they are listed in the player database
     record structure (usually). Each value, with one exception,
     may be set to any value that is valid for it.

     The Lord Player Number field is display-only. That is because
     I don't see any valid reason to allow users to fiddle around
     the LORD Player Number field.

  6) When you exit VIO2EDIT, it will resave the VIO2PLAY.DAT
     file so that any changes you made will be accessible to
     the IGM. End of Notes for VIO2EDIT usage.

============================================================

IGM History Summary:
-------------------------
Jan. 26, 2004: Began work on IGM, using Love Shack II v2.00 code
               files for template. v0.10 alpha.

Dec. 25, 2004: Finished beta testing of IGM. Did official release as v1.00.
=========================

Jun. 16, 2005: Resumed DOS Lord development of IGM.
    -- Changes: (1) IGM now repairs negative/over-range LORD
       stats at IGM entry/exit automatically. (2) Second
       Usage report added in Vc2Usage.txt data file, and
       second Usage report screen added during IGM exit process.
       (3) IGM now asks if user wishes to include version #
       info in 3rdparty.dat during installation. (And 4) IGM's
       ATM Service code is updated.

Sept. 30, 2005: Revised IGM's handling of over-range LORD Stats.
       The IGM now handles reset of these over-range stats: Game
       Level, Experience, Gold in Hand, Gold in Bank, Weapon Number,
       Armour Number, the Skill Points stats, and the Skill Use
       Points stats.

Oct. 12, 2005: Finished development cycle of Vio2edit.exe and
       the IGM. Released VIO2EDIT player database editor utility
       offically. Released Violet's Cottage II v1.20 officially.
=================================================================

Limitations:
=================

========================================================================

Trevor's "Love Shack" IGM. I do not plan to recreate Castle
of LORD as a separate program, or to recreate the LORD Pit IGM.

I also developed and support Trevor Herndon's Castle of Lord
IGM, as v2.20 and v2.30. Over time various components of that
IGM have been reproduced and merged into my Ruined Castle and
Hiding In the Shadows LORD IGMs.

DOS LORD v4.07 was officially released on June 07th, 2006.
--------------------------------------------------

I am gradually testing all of my IGMs under a Synchronet BBS
setup done for me by a friend using DOS LORD v4.07. So far,
this IGM has not been tested in that environment using the
MTelnet program.

This IGM has been fully tested under LORD v3.55 through
v4.08 Beta's Sept. 2006 compilation. Michael Preslar does
not allow any LORD IGM authors access to newer compilations
of any version of LORD. There is nothing known in the LORD
community via the Fidonet BBS echoes, as of late Jan. 2009,
as to when LORD v4.08 will ever be officially released.

============================================================

2.0  INTRODUCTION:
-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
  ======================= Program Description/Setting:

  ==================================================================

      Installation, Configuration Change, and IGM Removal Notes:

  VIOLET2 INSTALL - Runs the IGM Installation process.
  VIOLET2 CONFIG - Allows user to change Sysop Handle or Max Visits/Day
                    to different settings.
  VIOLET2 REPORT - Generates new/updated IGM usage report disk file.
  VIOLET2 REMOVE - Runs the IGM un-installation process.
  =============================================================

  Violet's Cottage II -- Configuration Process:
  ======================================

  ====================================================================

  IGM Removal Notes:

  Run VIOLET2 REMOVE and follow the on-screen instructions.
  ==================================================================

  ===============================================================

  ===============================================================

  Usage of VIOLET2 REPORT command.
  ===================================
  =================================================================

  Updating from Version 1.00 of the IGM:
  =========================================

  2) Unzip files from VC2-WORK.ZIP distribution archive
     using overwrite mode - PKUNZIP -N VC2-WORK

  3) Manually update 3rdparty.dat to indicate version # change
     from 1.00 to 1.37.7 Beta. If you are using LordMenu, update
     its data files.

  4) Resume normal usage of IGM in LORD.

  5) Do not try to use VIO2EDIT.EXE until after at least one
     person has used the IGM in a LORD game session. Avoid
     running the editor while the IGM is in use also.
  --------------------------------------------------------------

3.0  FILES:
-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
The following files are included within the Violet's Cottage II archive:

VIOLET2 DIZ Violet's Cottage II DIZ file
VIOLET2 EXE Violet's Cottage II IGM v1.37.7 Beta
VIOLET2 TXT Violet's Cottage II - IGM documentation

VIO2EDIT.EXE - VC II Player Editor utility.   v1.10 non-beta
VIO2EDIT.TXT - VIO2EDIT documentation file.
VIO2EDIT.DIZ - BBS data file used with VIO2EDIT.

FILE_ID.DIZ  - Description file (VIOLET2.diz)

CCL-APPS.TXT - Info on official IGM releases, and current betas.
CCL-PROJ.TXT - Info on upcoming LORD programming project plans.

VIOLET2.ANS - ANSI file used by the IGM.

* - Files created during IGM installation, or after each usage in LORD:
=======================================================================

* VC2USAGE.TXT - Disk file listing content of VIO2PLAY.DAT.
      Created automatically when IGM is used by sysop or
      the end-user.  Created/Updated when VIOLET2 REPORT command
      is entered from DOS Prompt. Required: VIO2PLAY.DAT file.

      File contains two usage reports, as of 06-16-2005.

* VIO2EDIT.CFG - Created first time you use the player database
      editor utility. Tells utility where the IGM's database
      file is located.
====================================================================

4.0  INSTALLATION:
-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
    1. Unzip VC2-WORK.ZIP into a LORD sub-directory, or into main
       LORD directory. As long as no other IGM uses VIOLET2.* name,
       or any of the data file's names, it MAY co-exist with other
       LORD igms without any problem.

       The Docs files can be renamed, if needed, if there is any
       file-name conflict. *But VC2USAGE.TXT and the .DAT files can
       NOT be renamed. They are hard-coded inside the IGM.

       -- IGM Version 1.20 Official Release archive:
       http://camelot.legendarydragons.com/Lordapps/viocot12.zip

       Copies of Vio2edit utility archive will also be available
       from those sources.
       --------------------------------------------------------

    2. From DOS Prompt, type: VIOLET2 INSTALL

       Follow on-screen instructions, and IGM will be installed into
       your LORD game. IGM announces itself in lognow.txt, and adds
       its entry lines to 3rdparty.dat. That concludes installation.

    3. If using LordMenu utility, remember to re-run Lordmenu.exe and
       update the 3rdalt.txt menu file. Otherwise, when you enter
       LORD you would not see an entry to run Violet's Cottage II
       v1.00 from in the Other Places Menu screen.

                                IGM Removal:
    1. Change to where you installed the IGM. Type: VIOLET2 REMOVE

       Follow instructions, and IGM will be removed from 3rdparty.dat,
       and the VIOLET2.dat file will be deleted.

    2. Delete the IGM's files unless you think you may want to keep
       them around. That concludes IGM removal process. Also delete
       files like VIO2TIME.dat and VIO2PLAY.DAT, unless you think you'll
       re-install the IGM at a later time.

    3. If you are updating from IGM version 1.00, the quickest
        way is a manual update of 3rdparty.dat file, as indicated
        earlier in this file. Alternately, you can un-install the
        IGM and then re-install it. Otherwise, the only update
        work needed is to unzip the files in VC2-WORK.ZIP into your
        LORD IGM directory.

        You have to delete your current VIO2PLAY.DAT file *IF*
        you have NOT been using the beta versions released since
        June 16, 2005.

                                IGM Usage Reports:
    This probably is obvious, but you can not use VIOLET2 REPORT mode
    until someone has actually used the IGM at least once. It requires
    a player database file, and you won't have one, until the IGM has
    been used by someone.
================================================================

4.5  LORDMENU Information:    {Added 12/26/2008}
-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-

The LordMenu program is currently developed and supported by me.
I took over its development and support when it stopped working
correctly in 2006, and needed to be fixed. Which was done with
assistance from Dennis Collins. LordMenu v1.40 was officially
released on July 29th, 2007. Distribution was done on July
31th, 2007. And LordMenu v1.50 was offically released on
August 29th, 2008.

    mid-February 2009 since the original release archive
    contained an older compilation of lordmenu.exe accidentally.

5.0   REQUIREMENTS:
-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-

  1. Any version of LORD that supports IGMs. Testing is being done
     solely with LORD v4.07 beta - but will be used by other beta
     testers using other LORD versions.

  2. DOS 6.x or later versions. Probably works with DOS v3.xx forward
     as well, but I can't say for sure.

  3. IGM is usable whether LORD is registered or not, as currently
     written.
=================================================================

IGM Testing Notes Section:   {Added 10/05/2008}

    -- View current LORD stats at different places in IGM.

    -- You can visit IGM up to 10 times each day. Unless your
       sysop sets up the IGM for one time/day usage.

==================================================================

Beta Testers: Michael Everett, Paul Koukos, Joe Kinjin, Stephen
    Gibbs, Marty Blankenship, Kenneth Padgett, Daryl Stout, Mike
    Ciesiensky, and Rob McGee. And a few others here and there.

==================================================================

   Borland Pascal v7.01, ChasWare Library Routines by Charlie Wardick,
   The Atlantis Networking Game Library v1.00 by Jimmy Rose, and
   portions of Techno's TurboJock Toolkit -- used in the IGM's Config
   functions.
===================================================================

10.0  SUMMARY
-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
Your comments, questions, suggestions are welcome and appreciated. I'd
like to know that people are actually using my IGM. :) I've put a lot
of work into it and I hope it is appreciated.

IGM Crashes: If you experience a crash while using the IGM, please
send me a capture log of your BBS session which most comm programs
and Telnet clients are able to generate. Zip it up in an archive
using Winzip, PKzip or some other ZIP-compatible utility, and send
it to me at donald.tidmore@fidotel.com (or gtidmore@hiwaay.net).
