Updated IGMs (after 2/20/98):
New IGMs (after 2/20/98):
IGM Name | Version | Author | Cost | Opinion |
---|---|---|---|---|
A Visit to Santa Claus | 1.2 | Charles & Julia Mandeville | FREE | Not-so-Random Giving IGM. I guess we should be giving at Christmas time, but this is a little excessive. |
Across the Tracks | 5.0 | ToasterHead | FREE | Random Events IGM. Travel Across the Tracks and have various things happen to you. The Events are interesting, it's a bit too giving. Decent Random Events IGM. |
Adoption Market | 1.5 | Derek Peterson | FREE | Leave/Buy kids. Set price, gives too much for lower-level players, sells for too low to higher level players. |
Aladdin's Bar | 1.01 | Brian Bosscher | FREE | Multi-node chatroom. Kinda slow, but no runtimes, works great. |
Aladdin's Palace | 2.00 | Devon Brooks | $3 | Large Random Events IGM. Install has confusing line editing. Too modifying for normal games. Many bugs fixed with this version. |
Anarchist | 1.1 | Ng Joong Onn | FREE | Visit the Anarchist to hurt another player. Fun, but highly volatile impact in the Lord game. Refreshing new ideas. |
Anatasia's Honeymoon Hotel | 1.00 | Trevor Herndon | $7 | Travel 'round a hotel looking for romance and goods. Nothing new here, everything is very much like Lord. Flirt, events happen -- it's all recycled material. Not too damaging, but not super interesting, either. |
Apothecary | 1.72 | Bryan Stanbridge | FREE | Random Events / Guru IGM. Possible negative effects from what you ask for. Not a bad random events IGM. Easier to find and locate hidden features now. |
Aragorn's Timer | 1.1 | TrentSoft | FREE | |
Arena of Lords | 1.1b | Gary Hall | FREE | Forest Fight IGM. Slower fight, with less available options, and less realism than Lord. Why not just add a tougher monster into Lord? Rewards run high - 50 def/50 strength. |
Arkhaim Asylum | 2.02 | Christian Danychuk | $10 | Funny and Crazy IGM in an Asylum. The ideas are great, but the mis-matched text colors and rolling screens make this IGM almost impossible to get into. Too giving. |
Axehandler's Arena | 2.2D | Larry Patterson | $5 | Fighting Arena. Fighting does not follow Lord's fighting routines. BEYOND way too giving. This will easily destroy your game. Pretty darn boring, too. It's a good idea, but a horrible way to implement it. Thumbs down. |
Axehandler's Battlegrounds | 0.9c | Larry Patterson | $5 | "RISK" in Lord. Mismatched colored text with nice ansis. The equivalent to playing Chess in between wrestling matches -- it's not for Lord. A bit too modifying. |
Axehandler's Dominion | 0.9c | Larry Patterson | $5 | Forest Fight/Stables IGM. Fight different monsters in several realms. Attacking does not use same formula as Lord. Gets boring quickly. With unlimited attacks, it's very modifying. Stable prices are too high. |
Backalley Bar | 5.06 | Jay Hodges | $5 | A Bar IGM. Consists of a couple random events, and mixing drinks (percentages of X, Y, and Z). Repetetive, ugly, boring. Too modifying at defaults, but at least it's slightly configurable (you can make it not modifying). Install works in this version. |
Backalley Church | 4.03 | Jay Hodges | $3 | Utility IGM. Marry another, reincarnate another player, 2 random events. Pretty cool, but a bit too giving. Not a bad choice for a casual game. |
Backalley Orphanage | 3.02 | Jay Hodges | FREE | Orpanage / Walkaround IGM. The walkaround part (N,E,S,W adventure game) is OK, but it's too confusing, and there aren't many interesting things. Even though there are sysop-definable values, it's still too modifying. If you MUST have an orphanage, this one is probably the best. Not a bad IGM, but not a great one either. |
Baldur's Camp | 2.0 | Black Acid Productions | $2 | Buy/Sell / Fighting / Town IGM. Unoriginal Buy/Sell Armor/Weapons, fighting doesn't seem to follow Lord -- and every time I fought the computer locked up. One point of notice is the Rat Races, a take-off of the horse races ansi animation games. But these Races aren't in color, and go too fast. Too many lockups, not enough content. |
Banda's Boardinghouse of Vanadia | 1.50 | Gregory Campbell | $10 | Large Random Events IGM. Pretty well done, a lot of new things. The cock fighting is pretty cool, and a lot of the events are done well too. Some bland things, but mainly a good random events IGM. |
Barak's House | 1.00 | Seth Able Robinson | FREE | Quite possibly the best IGM ever written. Simple, fast, not too giving, and most importantly, FUN! |
Barton's Battle Training | 1.0 | David Coburn | $10 | Skills/Fighting IGM. Absolutely nothing in here. For $10 you get: Docs that refer to another program, an install that doesn't work (and gives you no clue on how to make it work), ONE random event, and skills for $1000 a piece (way too low). What a disgusting waste of money. |
Blarney Stone | 1.0 | Charles & Julia Mandeville | FREE | Very small IGM, get stuff. Too giving for level one. |
Bounty Hunters | 1.01 | Brotherhood Software | FREE | Place bonds on other player's heads, bounty hunt, or hire an assassin. A very well done IGM on this idea. However, negative number bugs ruin the effect, and anyone can get unlimited gold in here. |
Business Department | 1.00 | Rafi Bodill | FREE | Brand New IGM idea! Start a business, make money from it. With more work, this could be one of the best IGMs out there. However, most options don't work now, and by using Lord's mail codes you can give yourself whatever you'd like (unlimited everything). Too unstable for now. |
Buy/Sell Stuff | 1.0 | Chad Schwartz | $5 | Buy/Sell IGM. Boring, and way, way too giving. Ugly. Not much fun. A large waste of time, money, and effort. |
Caldor's Orphanage | 0.05 | Brian May | $5 | This IGM is crippled so badly in the unregistered version, it's hard to even get in the door. In addition, it's a very large pain to install. Impossible to tell what else is in it, but based on what can be done, it looks like a loser. |
Castle Coldrake | 1.1B | Chris Fisher | $10 | Random Events IGM with a flair. Fascinating descriptions, everything seems different, and new. Not too modifying (a bit, but not too much). Annoying Beep is NOT in this version. |
Castle of Lord | 2.10 | Trevor Herndon | $5 | Another LORD within Lord. More monsters, more armor, more weapons. Nothing new. Your us probably enjoy it, but it's nothing unique. |
Castle of the Dreamlord | 0.02 | Alex Earhart | FREE | Random Events IGM. Ugly. Experience rewards are way, way too high. Small, ugly, too giving. |
Cathedral of Nalishar | 2.0 | Chris Fisher | $3 | Walk through the Cathedral of Nalishar. Another random events IGM. Rewards run a bit too high (nothing completely out of place). Very interesting at some places, downright boring at others. Not an altogether bad choice. |
Cavern of the Creators | 1.0 | Ken Weitzel | $3 | Random Events IGM. A bit too modifying, but hey, if it wants to idolize me, go for it! Difficult opening question (but it's always the same, so hey!) |
Caves of Despair | 1.01 | Jeff Fanjoy | $3 | Fascinating walk-around/forest fight IGM. Tons of events, even with 20 minutes in one area, I felt I'd only scratched the surface. The PERFECT addition to your Lord game! Default to Expert prompts problem fixed. A wonderful alternative to the forest! |
Chance's Cafe | 1.4 | Chris Carson | FREE | Nice Small Bar IGM! Buy drinks that enhance your stats -- the values are a bit large for lower-level players, but not too much. You can set prices. It's a bit sexist (no female support for one area), but overall, it's one of the best small IGMs around! |
Changeling | 1.0 | Charlie Wardick | FREE | Random Events IGM. Nice-looking. Gives way too much at times. DOCs claim it gives negat results, but after 50 entrances at different levels, I received nothing bad. |
Chapel of St. George | 1.3 | Lisa & Mans Johansson | FREE | Mixing/Random Events IGM. This IGM is well written -- mix herbs, random events with a priest, a graffiti wall. Well presented. |
Circus of Freaks | 2.0 | Nicholas Dimitry Shreders | $5 | Disturbing (yet sometimes humorous) Random Events IGM. Unlike most RE IGMs, this one really has a sense of fun (and sickness) to it. Do NOT use this if you are easily offended -- I found some of the ideas offensive, but laughed at others. Too giving with the money and experience. |
City of Eros | 0.70 | Daniel Owens | $5 | A Town/Village IGM. Nothing sets it apart from any other Town/Village IGM. Too giving, not very pretty, not very fun. |
City of the Sun God | 2.0 | Children of Galeaxy | FREE | Village IGM with an Egyptian twist. Rewards run way too high. Trivia questions don't seem to recognize proper answers. More interesting than most city IGMs, but too giving and too buggy. |
DK-Lotto | 2.2B | Digant Kasundra | FREE | Lotto IGM. Runtimes galore. No fun. |
DRAGon'S cAsTLe! | 2.53 | KAoLIN FIRe STocKiNGER | $5 | Good looking random events IGM. SW version is pretty crippled. Interesting descriptions, lots of new ideas. The castle theme done by an author who knows what a Castle IGM should be like. ** If you sell -1 magic points, you can get unlimited gold! ** |
Daemonica | 3.0 | Children of Galeaxy | $5 | Large Buy/Sell Random Events IGM. Surprisingly well written, although still too modifying for tight competition. The best Buy/Sell/Forest Fight/Random Events IGM I've ever seen. Looks great, feels good, decent descriptions. A bit confusing, but that can be a good thing! |
Dave's Inn | 0.91 | David Taylor | $1 | Stay the night, and have good or bad things happen to you. Living Nightmare installation. Only 8 possible things can happen: 5 bad, 3 good (including one double-your-money). Too bad the events are hard-coded. |
DownSide Tavern | 1.02 | Chris Dorf | FREE | Small Tavern IGM. Install is horrible (copying files all over the place, doesn't put the command lines correctly into the 3rdparty.dat). The IGM itself has another Violet (traditional) and an AI chat (which is pretty boring IMO). |
Dragon Town University | 1.3 | Joshua Eckerman | FREE | Trivia IGM. Only about 15 questions in the whole IGM, and they're all so EASY. Way too giving because of the simplicity of the questions. Great idea, but hampered by the lack of decent questions (although you can edit & add questions with an included program). |
Dragon's Bone Shipyards | 0.09 | Marvin Wise | $5 | Town(ish) IGM. Rewards don't seem to change my player's stats (?!?!). Can't judge on a lot of things. |
Dragon's Breath Mountain | 0.73 | Rickey Friesen | $5 | Smallish Town/Village IGM. Pretty well written, but nothing new. Not much to do, either -- you can flirt, and there's a new armor shop, and a new weapon shop. There's also a forest, but there don't seem to be any different events. Not bad, but not thrilling. |
Dragon's Breath Square | 1.02 | Alan Boyer | $1 | A Town/Village IGM. Number guess is fatal -- way, way too modifying. |
Dragon's Claw Tavern | 2.01 | Brian May | $5 | A Bar/Inn IGM. Great "tavern" feeling in this IGM. A couple flaws exist, mainly in attacking the wandering warriors repeatedly with skills. However, it's probably the best Bar/Inn IGM out there. Great for casual games, not that great for heavy competition. |
Dragon's Den Casino | 0.25 | Brian May | FREE | Casino IGM. Too modifying in the long run, but it's a well done casino IGM. Different enough to make it interesting -- your users will welcome it. |
Dragon's Lair | 1.8 | Becky Benjamin | $5 | Random Events IGM. Attempts to stop negative values, but you can do it anyway, letting you have unlimited of almost ANY value (for this reason, BEYOND too giving, BEYOND bug-ridden). Bad grammar and uninteresting text make up the rest of this IGM. One to avoid. |
Dweebo the Geek's Clubhouse | 1.28 | Michael P. Hoffman | FREE | Enter Dweebo's clubhouse, and then either kill him, rob him, or have him "spoof a message". The questions to enter are pretty darn tough. When you kill Dweebo, he gives away too much experience. Otherwise, this is a very funny IGM -- something new! |
E-Man World | 1.31 | Charles Feldmeier | FREE | Pac-Man/Graffiti Wall. Pac-Man isn't too hot, it's not realtime (i.e., you can wait hours to move, the enemies don't attack you), and it's not really too much like Pac-Man. This IGM includes the Love Shack (reviewed below), and isn't much fun, but it might be a nice break for users. Too giving. |
Elaikases Tower | 2.00 | Jay Hodges | FREE | Random Events IGM. Nothing new... Looks devasting, but isn't really. (A lot of the rewards aren't actually added to your score). There are a couple really damaging parts, though. Kinda ugly. |
Fairy Peddler | 1.3 | Children of the Galeaxy | $3 | Very confusing random-events IGM. A bit too giving, very much bewildering. Too many runtime errors. |
Fairy Town | 1.00 | Mike Zrichuk | $5 | Random Events IGM. Nice-looking DOCs, but harder to read. A bit too giving for higher levels, not really much fun. There's a number guess, five-card draw (this is pretty cool), and an adoption option. |
Fat Man's Misery | 1.04a | John A. Tucker | $12 | Fat Man's Misery is an IGM that will take you into a Valley filled with surprises. It's humorous, looks good, and is very interesting. Lots of new ideas incorporated, and not ov modifying. A bit expensive, but a good choice, nonetheless. |
Felicity's Temple | 1.9 | Lloyd Hannesson | FREE | Walk around Felicity's Temple. Random events IGM. A wee bit altering. Description (in DOCs) makes it sound fascinating. |
Fireside Chat | 1.01 | Gregory Campbell | $5 | Multi-Lord Chat. Chat doesn't work properly (all chat appeared on one screen and nothing on the other), IGM kept reporting "Can't open IGMLIST.DAT" (Or some name like that), doesn't keep track of all players properly (just those in IGMs). |
Fishing | 1.0 | Ken Weitzel | $3 | Random Events/Fishing IGM. Fishing in each different spot is a bit repetitive, but it's still a good random events IGM. Rewards are a bit high for lower level players. Good for a casual game. |
Flea Market | 1.11 | Jason Jones | FREE | Buy and Sell armor/weapons/other stuff. Devastating on any Lord game -- get unlimited everything (strength/defense/gems/etc). A time bomb. |
Forest of Intrigue | 1.01 | Jay Hodges | $5 | Semi-Ansi Action game. Walk around a map you can't see. Almost impossible to quit. Otherwise decently fun, a new idea. A very good idea that could have been implemented better. Doesn't seem to be too modifying. |
Forest of the Raven | 2.3 | David Holderness | $10 | Medium Sized Adventure IGM. Answer hard (but well-written) quiz questions, to gain entrance to a palace. Talk to a troll and a warrior. The look and feel of this IGM is wonderful, and although there isn't a ton of stuff here, (with the exception of the fighting), this is a fantastic IGM! |
Forgery | 1.0 | Ken Weitzel | $3 | Mission IGM. You have to do certain events in a certain order to achieve a job. Well, I did all the commands, and it still wouldn't take the correct answer, I'm not sure if I did it wrong or what, but it's really disjointed, and not really fun. |
Freeworld | 5.7 | George Batalias | FREE | Random Events IGM. WAAAAYYYY too modifying. |
Fun & Games | 1.1 | Noel Software | FREE | Far-off realm with 3 games -- a number guess, a word game, and a gambling game. Looks fantastic, Word game is very fun, others are sorta fun. Default rewards are "just right". Sysop Configurable. |
Galactic Warriors | 1.0 | Children of Galeaxy | $5 | Rather confusing SPACE IGM. What it's doing in a medieval war game, I don't know. Definitely doesn't add anything, but yet, it's pretty well done. You make the call. |
Gallagher | 1.0 | Charles Culver | $1 | Pie Making IGM. Has the potential to be very funny, but the unregistered limitations aren't marked, so it's a large pain in the butt if it's unregistered, and the pie stuff doesn't have a graphic depiction, so who knows if your ingredients were the cause, or just a random number? |
Gate Way to Heaven | 1.0 | Arthur Lewis | $5 | Another IGM created with DIYIGM that doesn't work. And wastes a lot of time in the install. |
Graveyard | 3.30 | Tommy Baker | $3 | Random Events happen in the Graveyard. Find stuff, sell it (for exorbitant prices). Too modifying, not very interesting. Still, it remains small and short. This version does NOT have the TAI-PAN virus. |
Greasy | 1.0 | Ken Weitzel | $3 | Random Events IGM. Not really giving, but not really interesting either. Flirt with same results per answer every time, order items on a menu and things happen to you (minor things). Lots of delays in the display, makes it kind of annoying. |
Grizelda's House | 1.72 | Bryan Stanbridge | FREE | Random Events IGM. Quite like Barak's, but no ansi action! Companion IGM to the Apothecary. |
Grizelda's Place | 1.0 | Children of Galeaxy | FREE | Alternative Flirting Place. Good sense of humor, good idea. A good small IGM. |
Gypsy Camp of Vanadia | 1.50 | Gregory Campbell | $10 | Visit a Gypsy Camp and surrounding area. There's an ANSI knife contest that's pretty cool... And a search over a forest/cave terrain. This is really great, but it's a large pain traversing the caves the way it's designed, although leaving the cave is pretty easy (smash a gem). Only slightly modifying through fights. |
HOsPitaL lOBBy! | 1.01 | KAoLIn FiRE stOcKingER | $5 | Originally an IGM for Lunatix, Hospital Lobby has not made a good conversion. Doesn't fit with Lord at all, and it's way, way too modifying. |
Haldar's Arena | 1.0b | Bram Luknight | $5 | Forest Fights IGM. Boring fight routines. Nothing works right in the IGM: When you die, you really don't. When you're supposed to be paying with gems to attack, it costs nothing. Unlimited attacks, even if you only fought the lowest level guy, you could get unlimited gold and exp. Avoid this IGM. |
HateMail | 3.0 | Mike Eheler | ? | Wow, an IGM in at _least_ its third revision, and it doesn't even WORK! |
Haunted Mansion | 1.0? | Korombos | FREE | Amusing IGM; A different idea carried out quite well... Too modifying for tournament games, but a nice addition to any other. |
Hidden Forests | 1.50 | Gregory Campbell | $10 | Very well written exploring IGM! Good ANSI games, nice complex setup. However, it gives way too much in the way of rewards, and is quite time-consuming. Might be better off by itself (if you run it as an IGM). |
Hiding in the Shadows | 1.00 | Kenneth Padgett | $7 | Inn IGM. Pretty badly crippled. Great install. Nothing really original. Descriptions are good, but again, nothing new. You can flirt, and stay the night in the unreg'd version. Reg'd includes a vault and a couple other things. A well done, fairly unoriginal IGM. |
Highway Man | 1.5 | Jay Cochrane | $5 | Riddle IGM. Install doesn't work. Solve a riddle, get a lot of gold (too much). Not too bad, but too giving, and not very elegant. |
Holding House | 1.7 | Allyn Cross | $10 | Buy/Sell/Store IGM. Ugly. Tons of bugs, limitless defense and strength available. Absolutely nothing new whatsoever. A waste of time and money. |
InterLord | 1.50 | Gregory Campbell | $10 | |
Jadov | 1.60 | Dan Buckler | $10 | A LORD inside LORD. Deja VuDoo skills are pretty darn cool, and the town itself is nice. It's a bit too giving, not all of it is completed, but it's turned into a pretty nice IGM (the price drop helped). Overall, Jadov is large, and if that's what you're looking for, try it! |
Jeweler | 1.2 | Children of the Galeaxy | $3 | Kind of like a scaled-down version of Sandtiger's Bar. Too modifying. The "Adult Entertainment" option is sure to get a lot of play from 14 year-old guys, though. |
Joanne's Tavern | 1.05 | Joanne Cook | FREE | A little tavern. Get [essentially] unlimited defense, and unlimited free healings. Absolutely frightful setup (impossible if you're multinode). Ugly, and not very interesting (except for all the free stuff you get). |
Juancho's Paradise | 1.8 | Brian Myers | $3 | Town IGM. Setup program is awesome, but a bit slow (finds directory automatically). WAAAAYYYY too modifying. Interesting game, the rest is pretty banal. All white and gray. |
Junk Yard | 1.0 | ? | FREE | Random Events IGM. Sandtiger's Bar stripped down to almost nothing: Enter the IGM, press LOOK, and you'll get something. Except the screen scrolls too fast to see what it was. Oh well. |
K9 4 IGMs | 1.1 | Bob | $10 | 4 Simplistic IGMs. Trade gems in (wow, like the inn!) for stuff. Spin a lottery wheel, two random events IGMs. Boring, and not very pretty. Allows negative numbers, so it's very unbalancing. Way too large -- 800k for what could be put in 60k. |
Kaldor's Court | 2.0 | Chris Fisher | $2 | Random Events / Buy-Sell IGM. Pretty interesting events, selling done nicely. A bit too modifying. Good implementation of event ideas. |
Kanen's Lotto Hut | 1.1 | Michael Stephens | FREE | This IGM refuses to install on my system: on my BBS computer, it locks up. With Windows95 (on my personal computer), it gives a DOS error. |
King's Dilemma | 1.1 | Joshua Eckerman | $5 | Random Events IGM. Seems elaborate, but everything's just random! Could be much better. |
Kingdom of Barbadore | .002 | Steve Lorenz | ? | Absolutely gigantic IGM. It should be its own door game, and really has no place in Lord. Well written, but still confusing, and a lot of places aren't actually written yet. Not for LORD, but a good door game. |
Knights of the Golden Horseshoe | 0.65 | David F. Simmons & Gary Earhar | $5 | Vicious Overnight IGM. Punishes you for just about everything you do wrong. It's possible to enter |
LORDopoly | 1.8 | Cammy & Jay Cochrane | $5 | Monopoly with Lord properties. Beautiful, and very fun. Not too modifying. Only problem would be the "monopoly" of the first players of the game (even though the board gets reset every week). Good IGM choice. |
Land of Merdiqua | 1.1 | John Gibbard | $8 | Extremely funny large IGM. Buy numerous different weapons & armor, each has its very own description & class. Visit weird personalities, attack sun-baked bathers, get lost in the forest, and just mess around. This IGM doesn't seem to have too much effect on the LORD game either! Enjoy! |
Larissa's Lair | 1.00 | David Coburn | $5 | Miniscule Random-Events IGM. Should be freeware. |
Latrine | 3.02 | Vamsi Tadepalli | Funny and sick IGM about a bathroom. Extra fights make it a bit too modifying, but it's sysop-configurable. Great for teen/pre-teen games. | |
Lester's Palace | 1.0 | Lee Hull | FREE | Another DIY IGM that doesn't work multinode, that doesn't even give sysops a CLUE as to how to install it, and isn't worth the time to unzip it. |
Let's Have Fun | 2.0 | Chad Schwartz | $5 | Solve simple addition problems and win an extra forest fight. Not really fun, not really damaging. It should be freeware. |
Lord Cavern | 1.3e | Jason Brown | $5 | Random Events IGM. Very interesting descriptions, quite fun to play. Not very modifying. A VERY new twist on random events -- there's an EVENT PROGRAMMING LANGUAGE! FuN! |
Lord Chat | 1.0 | Steve Lorenz | FREE | Chat IGM. CAUTION! If you use this on NODE 0, it will ERASE your player.dat. Actually, it will just turn it into a 0 byte file, which is worse for LORD. The chatting action is OK, kinda slow. |
Lord Clan | 1.0 | Lightspeed | $4 | Add Clans to LORD. Make clans, attack other clans. Docs state that you can attack realtime, but later on say that it might not work. At any rate, attack is disabled in the shareware version, so all you can do is rent a room and make teams. There's not enough to go to evaluate this IGM properly. |
Lord Gambling Casino | 1.7 | Tobin T. Fricke | $5 | Casino with 3 games: Roulette, Blackjack, and Slots. Annoying install. Roulette is not true Roulette, and not really fun. The blackjack stinks, and the slots (like real life) are impossible to win. Rewards are OKAY (but you can play roulette infinitely). |
Lord Haunted House | 1.01 | David Coburn | $5 | Search or Sleep in the Haunted House. Absolutely MINISCULE IGM. Almost nothing to do in here, about 5 random events is all. |
Lord Hunter | 1.01 | Robert Ehrhardt | FREE | Random Events IGM. Go hunting. Sounds good, but it's a horrid execution of the concept. Hunting is just random numbers (I was expecting some Oregon-Trail type hunting!), you can get unlimited gold (negative numbers), the install DOES NOT WORK AT ALL, I spent 10 minutes moving and editing text files. AVOID THIS IGM. |
Lord Life | 1.19 | Trevor Kooy | $10 | Very Large Town IGM. Interesting functions, including a nice color code intrepreter. Many of the random events get rather repetitive. Things that could be very much fun, like the gambling and jousting, are reduced to simply a random number. Also, there is a lack of error-checking here, I found a way to get unlimited kids... |
Lord Pit | 2.5 | Trevor Herndon | $5 | The Pit for Lord. Not realtime, though (you move, then the monster moves). Keys seem a bit weird. However, a brand new invention for an IGM. Worth a look. |
Lord Stables | 1.50 | Flinn the King | FREE | Buy and Sell Horses. What fun. Selling prices are a bit high. Not much of an IGM. |
Lord Test | 1.0 | Ken Weitzel | FREE | IGM to track system specs (to see if LORD is working correctly on your system). |
Lord Trivia | 2.0 | Scott Orheim | $5 | Trivia IGM. Questions are not about LORD. Lots of large files that don't seem to do much. Doesn't really fit in with Lord. If you're set on having a trivia IGM that has nothing to do with LORD, you want this. |
Lord Trivia | 1.0 | Robert Strange | $5 | Trivia about LORD. Questions are OK, but it's not really an IGM (you'll have tons of problems if you run multinode), setup doesn't work at all (you'll have a hell of a time setting it up), and it's not all that great. |
Lord Wheel | 1.0 | Ken Weitzel | $3 | Wheel of Fortune in Lord. Puzzles based on enemy names - pretty cool & Lordlike. Great small IGM, not too giving (although I wouldn't be so liberal with the gold at lower levels). |
Lord's Brothel | 1.3 | Jeff Donchez | $5 | Adult Random Events IGM. Not very altering. Fun if your users get a kick out of reading sex passages. The perfection addition to that XXX Lord game. |
LordNet | 1.2L | TrentSoft | $10 | |
Lordy, Lordy, Lordy! | 1.1 | Ken Weitzel | $3 | Refuses to run (just quits). |
Lottery | 1.0 | Charles Culver | $1 | Lottery IGM. Runtimes on me when I finish buying tickets. Not too thrilling. |
Love Shack | 1.2 | Trevor Herndon | $5 | Meet-a-mate IGM. The bartender wouldn't let me get a date! All I could do was eat and drink things, which wasn't too fun. |
Magic Kiss | 1.0? | Tom Walsh | ???? | Would not install (see "Willy Tart's Carnival" description for full information, they work identically). Also, I couldn't tell how much this IGM costs because the register.doc I was supposed to read was garbage (MS Word document or something?) |
Magic Shop | 2.52 | Steven Oberholtzer | $5 | Services IGM. Get info, kill, and revive other players. Not too thrilling. |
Maldorf's Mountain | 2.5 | Devon Brooks | FREE | Sysop-Configurable "Guru" IGM. Ask for a gift, if you're worthy, you'll get it. Rewards don't pay attention to level, so it's a bit too giving. Not very interesting either. But a good addition to a casual Lord game. |
Medieval Tournament of Vanadia | 1.50 | Gregory Campbell | $10 | Huge ANSI Action IGM. Wonderful events, not too modifying. Be warned, don't try this one without at LEAST a 14.4. A good pick for most games! |
Mega Bucks Lottery | 1.4 | Chris Carson | Great Idea: buy a lottery ticket, check back and see if you won. However, it suffers in the implementation: you don't pick numbers, and you don't see the winning number. It looks just like it's a random computer thing. Also, the configuration doesn't seem to have any effect on the IGM. | |
Messenger | 1.0 | Ken Weitzel | $3 | Story Line IGM. Seems to come up the same way each time. Interesting story, though. Not a bad IGM. |
Midsummer's Dream | 1.6 | David Holderness | $10 | Random Events / Rewards IGM. Wonderful install program, nice looking IGM. However, it's too volatile. Rewards run about 10 times more than LORD, and you can change your name to all color codes, making it effectively empty. This means no one can attack you. Also a wonderful puzzle game included! |
Mirror of Illusion | 2.1 | Joshua Eckerman | $5 | Travel to different LORD settings. Pretty cool... Not strict enough on giving, though. A nice, fresh, new IGM idea. |
Moon Chat | 1.01 | Nannette Thacker | $10 | Chat IGM. Install is awful. Not really an IGM (reads drop file), so it didn't work properly on my DOOR.SYS multinode system (which seems to defeat the purpose of having a chat room, doesn't it?). Mediocre chat interface. |
Moondust's County Fair | 4.07 | Nannette Thacker | $10 | Visit a fair, compete in the events. Not a true IGM; may not work properly multinode. Although games many look the same, they actually feel much different. This should be a hit with your users, but the install is one of the WORST I've ever seen -- good luck setting it up! |
Morph's Gymnasium | 2.16 | Morph | $5 | Work out in Morph's Gym. Arm wrestling is pretty cool (ANSI action), and it's not too modifying (but a bit). Just not tons of new stuff, but pretty good. |
Mosh Pit | 1.0 | Charles Culver | $3 | Amusing Random Events IGM. Too giving, but funny... Join the Mosh Pit, where you make fun of bands, spit on security guards, and generally be disruptive. |
Mystic Tower | 2.2 | Kevin Sauer | $5 | A conglomeration of all the bad IGM ideas. Way, way, way too modifying. Full of sexual innuendos, and other pre-teen allusions to sex. Buggy. |
Mystical Hut | 1.0 | Scott Emrich | $1 | Small Coin Flip IGM. Get minimal skills/strength. Kind of a "weenie" IGM, but good if yo just want a small, non-modifying IGM. |
Mystified Mage | 1.00 | David Coburn | $5 | Random Event -- 1 strength or 1 magic point per entrance. This should definitely be freeware. |
Napping Ocean Adventure | 2.2 | Allyn Cross | $10 | NOAD has already had at least 6 releases, and it's still extremely buggy, and has many BASIC problems with it. It's also very ugly, and there's nothing to set it aside from other IGMs. Nothing really interesting to do, it's just an IGM that gives away stuff in massive quantities. |
Nudist Colony | 0.7 | John Roseblagh | FREE | Neither automatic nor manual install work. |
Oasis of El-Sayal | 1.09 | David Holderness | $10 | Town IGM. There's an Inn (worthless AI chat, chat wall, Get A Room), a store (Buy/Sell Armor/Weapons), an old man with tips, a forest-type area, a bazaar (Buy/Sell Horses, Kids), and, the only fairly original thing in here, a bank for depositing gold outside of Lord. Basically, nothing new, average quality. |
Obo's Black Market | 1.1a | Brad Carson | $2.5 | Black Market IGM. Can't do half the options in the unregistered version. Prices way too low, too modifying. Install doesn't work, isn't a real IGM. Won't work multinode. |
Old Man | 2.1 | Matt Granberry | FREE | Ansi shooting IGM. The shooting's done fairly well... bland colors, no mention of arrows left, but it works. Rewards are a little high, but it's a pretty cool addition to the Lord game. |
Outhouse | 1.3 | Robert Fogt | FREE | Small IGM that really doesn't do much. Either win 1 charm, or risk 1 charm to win 2 charm. Rewards are minimal -- so is the fun. If you run IGMs just for the sake of running IGMs, here's one you won't want to miss. |
Outlands Tavern | 1.2 | Jason Brown | FREE | Visit a tavern, choose from many options. None of the options are really interesting, it's all about getting STUFF. Rewards give away a bit too much. At least it's free. |
Overnighter | 1.0 | Paul Klinger | $5 | Inn IGM. Install doesn't work, screens are incredibly ugly. The essential options don't work, so you can't even stay overnight (which is the point of the IGM). Doesn't really read the right file, so the wrong player enters the IGM. One of the worst IGMs I've had the misfortune to look it. |
Pawn Shop | 1.20 | Chris MacPherson | FREE | Realistic Pawn Shop IGM. One of the first IGMs I've ever seen that has taken an idea and completely followed through with it! Claim the Pawnshop, and you can effortlessly run an affordable buy / sell business. Prices aren't restrictive enough; not recommended for LordNet games. |
Pet Shop | 1.0A | ? | FREE | Weapon/Armor store. Not too modifying. Not that great, either, but not bad. |
Phantoms of the Catacombs | 2.17 | Nannette Thacker | $15 | ANSI Action Quests. Install is horribly complicated. Not a real IGM (may not work multi-node). IMO, too large for an IGM. Really fun, but too time consuming, too expensive, and too un-like LORD to justify running as an IGM. Run it as a door, but not as an IGM. |
Phil's Bar | 1.1 | Tom Phillips | $5 | Install SEEMED to work, but in actual fact, the IGM just quits as soon as it loads. Oops! |
Picnic | 1.0 | Ken Weitzel | $3 | Nice Small Random Events IGM. Includes ANSI Action game which is impossible to win, but well done. Overall, it's a nice edition to the game, but nothing extraordinarily new! |
Player's Guild | 1.0 | Robert Strange | $7 | Quest IGM. Get quiz questions on your way to making tons of gold. Too modifying for lower level players. Quiz questions get childish and stupid after 2-3 good ones. A good idea, but hampered by multi-node ineptitude, and not even thought in the questions. |
Player's Market | 0.14 | Ricky Friesen | FREE | Flea Market IGM. Pretty cool idea... Done well enough. If you want one of these in your LORD game, this is a good one to get! |
Pleasure's Paradise | 1.99 | Kevin Sauer & Jason Spencer | FREE | Crashes my computer every time I try to run it. |
Pool of Transformation | 1.1C | Adam Geitgey | $3 | An IGM that doesn't work. |
Poor House | 1.0 | Ken Weitzel | $3 | If you're in need of money, or have too much, visit the Poor House to get or offer help. Excellent IGM for _any_ Lord game -- fast enter/exit, doesn't give too much, actually EVENs OUT the game! One annoyance -- it must be run from the LORD directory. |
Purple Haze Bar | 1.5 | Andy Phillips | $5 | Mildy amusing Random Events IGM. Start Brawls, train, play blackjack. A bit too modifying, but fun. Worth a look. |
Quick-E-Mart | 1.1 | Chuck Charpentier | FREE | Wannabe Random-Events IGM. Just get stuff for pressing keys. Too giving. No consequence HUGE PAIN in the arse to install. Lots of ads for a BBS. |
Races | 2.2 | Ken Weitzel | $3 | Horse Racing. Really cool! Level sensitive, so it's not too altering! Mucho fun! |
Realm of Immortals | 1.00 | Gary Wall | $12 | Could not get to operate -- at all. My first failure at installing an IGM. |
Realm of Lore | 1.43 | Paul M | $9 | Lord inside Lord. Well designed, and easy to use, but I'm not amazed by the features; seems like it would be better as a separate game. |
Red Dragon Bank | 1.4 | Ziad K. Alhasawi | $5 | Banking. Too altering for what it offers. Not very pretty. Allows you to deposit gold, gems, and trade for other items. |
Red Dragon Casino | 1.6 | William Atwell | $5 | Casino IGM. Decent games, but allows negative betting, so it's way too modifying. |
Redwood Restaurant & Tavern | 1.1 | Brad Carson | $5 | Mildy interesting Bar / Random Events IGM. Options that sound like they might be worthwhile are registered only features. Not very original. It isn't a real IGM, and probably won't work multinode (depends on your setup). |
Reflections | 1.1 | Ken Weitzel | $3 | Arrive in a new world, and attack yourself. Way too giving, and if you lose, you don't die. The attacking is not based on any of your stats (in Lord), new stats are made for you when you enter. Pretty cool idea, though. |
Rest & Relaxation | 2.0 | Ken Weitzel | $3 | Random Events IGM. Good descriptions. Much variety. A good choice for a random events IGM. |
Rimwell Isle of the Witches | 2.1 | Allyn Cross | $10 | Random Events IGM. Ugly beyond comprehension (your eyes will water). Will completely unbalance your Lord game. Uninspired concepts. The attempt to improve on over-used ideas fails miserably. Terrible implementation of a pretty bad idea. |
Robin Hood | 3.0 | Paul Koukos | $4 | Events IGM. Install is a pain. Events aren't Random -- the same thing happens again and again, and you can do it as many times as you want. Unlimited Kids, Unlimited Gems, Unlimited Gold. |
Rocky Horror Picture Show | 0.2B | Dream Master | $5+ | Random Events IGM -- Either get way too much stuff (5000+ exp on level 1??) and get stuck in the IGM until something happens and you get knocked down to one hit point. Forces you to install it into the main lord directory. |
Sandtiger's Bar | 1.02 | TrentSoft | FREE | Author Comment: This IGM is still buggy. Use at your own risk. |
School | 1.0 | Ken Weitzel | $3 | Lord Trivia Quiz. GREAT IGM! Under a time limit, you must answer a question about Lord. The prize is one skill use, which isn't too much, and it works well with the game! A good choice for any game! |
Seasons | 96 | Ken Weitzel | FREE | Random Events IGM. Seasonal (meant for December 1996). A bit too giving, but cute. |
Seth's Cottage | 2.01 | Jay Hodges | FREE | Random Events IGM. Get JENNIE advice and 2 charm each time you enter. Get laid, too... That's all, folks! |
Seth's Lotto | 1.0 | TrentSoft | FREE | |
Shauna, The Princess of Sorcery | 2.00 | David F. Simmons | FREE | Guru IGM. Too giving, only 8 choices. |
Shepley's Distractions | 1.50 | Gregory Campbell | $10 | Fourth Vanadia IGM. Description says that you play logic / card games with Shepley. Whenever I try to give him the "third gem," it kicks me out, saying I'm selfish. I've tried this over ten times now, and I just can't figure it out. |
Sherwood Forest | 1.2 | Ken Weitzel | $3 | Meet your favorite Sherwood Forest characters in Lord (and maybe even get a present from one of them). A bit too modifying, but it's still a nice addition to a LORD Game. Only allows one entrance per day. |
Silver Knight's Castle | 1.0 | Jim Koltz | $5 | Castle IGM. Very, very well done. Small, interesting, and not too modifying. Fun to play. |
Simple Lord (5 IGMs) | 2.0 | Chris and Brandy Infinger | FREE | Five IGMs that should have compressed into one. Heal yourself free. Buy/Sell a horse. Get strength/defense. And 2 Random Events IGMs. Believe it or not, it's still too modifying. |
SinCity Church | 1.0 | Steven Hazelett | $5 | Church IGM. Two random events, and a chance to get negative gold. Locks up. |
Ski Resort | 1.0 | Matt Granberry | $5 | Random Events / Action ANSI IGM. Events are fun in this IGM, they have a nice cozy feeling to them. The skiing isn't that wonderful (you're one character, and the trees can be 80 to one line), but the IGM has a feel-good orientation. Not a bad choice. |
Skill Training Center | 1.04 | Brian Bosscher | FREE | Three ANSI games -- one for each skill. Beautifully done ANSI games, tons of fun, looks great! Rewards are just right! However... if you run multi-node, you'll have some problems with the way it runs. |
Socrates' Shop | 1.15 | John Hutton | $10 | One of the "classic" IGMs. You are given the first letter of each word in a phrase, and any numbers (like 26 L in the A -- 26 Letters in the Alphabet), to trade weapons/armor/gold with another player. A good choice for bloodthirsty competition, not too modifying. |
Sommer's Shiny Things | 1.0 | Tiny (?) | FREE | Won't install. Uses same installation engine as Magic Kiss and Willy Tart's Carnival. |
Spellbinder | ??? | Donald Dahlman | FREE | Installation and Documentation are fairly incomprehensible. Shows latest update in mid-1995. Let me know if you can get it working. |
Star Port | 2.0 | Chris & Brandy Infinger | FREE | Large Random Events IGM. Kind of ugly, doesn't really fit with Lord (walk around on a Star Port / Fly spaceships). Too giving. Pretty fun, though, a good choice for Anarchy Lord games. |
Strong Man I's Race Track | 2.00 | Charles Feldmeier | FREE | Locks up the computer after "Press Key To Continue" |
Strong Man's Love Shack | 1.33 | Charles Feldmeier | FREE | Allows you to propose to another player or buy the chance to flirt again. This alone makes it too modifying. Ugly, not very fun either. |
Suburbia | 1.7A | Bryan Stanbridge | INET | Cute IGM -- buy houses! This would be a very nice IGM to add to any medium competition game (since it allows hiding). Original idea, very well done! And Bryan has finally (or so he says) fixed the marriage bug :) |
Sunshine's Fairy Land | 2.5 | Becky Benjamin | $5 | Walk-around Random Events IGM. Will completely unbalance the Lord game in a matter of minutes (unlimited tries at everything). Nothing new, nothing done particularly |
Surgical Clinic | 1.5 | Chris Carson | FREE | Character Enhancement IGM. Looks good, but it's too modifying -- prices aren't set by level, so it's either too high or too low, depending on level. Would be good for "fun" Lord games. |
Talent for the Skill | 1.1 | Joshua Eckerman | FREE | Random Events to get skills. Elaborate descriptions, but everything's random. A letdown -- could be MUCH better! |
Team Lord | 1.8 | TrentSoft | $8 | |
Terror Extreme | 2.0 | Nicholas Dimitry Shreders | $5 | Sneaky and disturbing IGM. Plan sabotage of the Dark Cloak Tavern, and then watch people die or are hurt by your deeds. Pretty cool, but sometimes this IGM crosses that invisible boundary from coolness to bad taste. Too giving... |
The Old Skull Inn | 0.22 | David Hasbrouck | $5 | A new twist on the Inn idea. Low on content, but what is there (armwrestling, 6-5-4 (dice game), and the Old Man) is very good. Refreshing. |
ThomasVille | 1.11f | Tom Moore | $5 | Town IGM. Nothing special. Pretty ugly (it's all the same color). Poker is a bit fun, but the colors aren't varietous enough. Too modifying: Doesn't set rewards by level. Registered version is sysop- configurable. |
Time Lord | 1.0 | Craig Edgar | FREE | Random Events IGM. WAAY too giving. Your Lord game will be destroyed within 30 seconds. Much profanity. Screwed up animation. |
Turgeon's Dungeon | 1.8 | Jay Cochrane | $5 | Dungeon with 4 different number guesses. Horrific destruction to your Lord game. Besides, after a while, number guesses get boring. |
Turgeon's Hidden Spring | 3.0 | Rick Smorawski | FREE | Random Events IGM. Incredibly giving (even though the docs profusely state it isn't). Can get unlimited Strength, Defense, and Gold. Can do everything an unlimited number of times. Not very interesting, either. No install program. |
Turgeon's House | 2.8 | Ski & Locutus | FREE | Investigate Turgeon's House. Creative IGM. More interesting that most random-events IGMs. Too modifying! |
Turgeon's Titty Bar | 1.2 | Jay Cochrane | $5 | Adult Random Events IGM. Good for X-Rated games, otherwise, it's nothing special. Lots of ANSI (!!!) Setup doesn't work. |
Underground | 1.02 | Bram Luknight | $5 | Black Market IGM. Won't run unless your drop file is CHAIN.TXT. Anything you want -- you got it. Unlimited experience, Unlimited forest fights, unlimited everything. Ugly, not fun, completely destructive. Words cannot describe how awful this IGM really is. |
Vampire of Shadow Vale | 1.2 | Charles & Julia Mandeville | FREE | Random Events IGM. Get all stuff, rewards are semi-regulated. |
Vanadia's Arena of Warriors | 1.50 | Gregory Campbell | $10 | Chatroom. Attack and chat. Attacking is slightly fun, but depends much more on macros than skill. Chatting is, well, chatting. There are also NPCs you can kill, but that's not really fun. |
Village Hut | 2.0 | Ken Davis | $5 | Village IGM. Buy Armor, Weapons (gives more cash back than LORD does, doesn't check for negatives). Visit a "Wise One" who gives you stuff (way too giving). Mildly humorous jester (bad jokes!). Transfer Gold and Heal won't let you input a number (???). About half the options are crippled. Not many options that aren't in Lord. |
Village of the Phoenix | 1.5A | The Phoenix Project | $10 | RIPped Town IGM. Bitch of an install for multi-node systems. Fighting alters too much, pretty good town IGM. $5 for ANSI only version. |
Violet's Cottage | 5.2 | Trevor Herndon | $5 | Meet everyone in Violet's House, and get prizes. Everything in this IGM looks the same, even the text passages. Somewhat interesting, and at one entrance a day could be a popular IGM. Lose or win a lot (not just little piddling amounts). |
Visions | 2.1 | Dirk Manuel | $3 | Treasure Hunt/Walk-around IGM. For once, brand new ideas in an IGM. Could be a bit too modifying if one really knew what was "going on", but basically a solid, interesting, and well-thought-out IGM. |
Vlad's Castle | 4.0D | Jimmy Bellinger | $1 | Doesn't work, I keep getting a "Critical Error." |
Warlock of Shadow Vale | 1.2 | Charles & Julia Mandeville | FREE | Random Events IGM. Interesting descriptions, too rewarding. |
Warrior's Graveyard | 1.5 | Lloyd Hannesson | FREE | Random Events IGM. Pretty funny (& a bit sick)! Slightly giving, but descriptions are well done. Enough variety to really make a good igm, and sure to make your users happy. Not for strict competition... |
Warrior's Village | 1.2 | Ian Stone | $5C | Random Events IGM. Nothing special. By renaming your armor to `K you can get a kid each time you view your stats. |
Weapons of War | 2.53 | Craig Edgar | $2 | Reminiscent of Sandtiger's Bar. Sysop-Configurable. Pretty fun, nothing really new. Easy to get unlimited gems, money. |
Werewolf | 3.01 | Jay Hodges | $3 | Turn into a Werewolf and terrorize the town. If you die in the IGM, you can keep going -- Too modifying this way. Some bizzare ideas, but nothing really new. |
Willy Tart's Carnival | 1.0? | Tom Walsh | FREE | Although the docs claim "the install couldn't be easier," it told me it couldn't find LORD.EXE anywhere (I put it in C:\LORD, I put it in D:\LORD, I put it in the same directory as the IGM). Please authors, give manual install information EVEN if "the install couldn't be easier." |
Wise One | 2.00 | Brian May | FREE | Guru IGM. Press a key, and ye might receive. Known to cause communications problems with other IGMs. Not too thrilling, way too giving. |
Xenon's Town Square | 2.0 | Chris Fisher | FREE | Buy/Sell IGM. Nothing particularly new in here -- store various stats, a new bank, an orphanage, a stables. Not remarkable. |
Zephyr's Town Square | 0.9a | Stephen Oberholtzer | ?? | Amusing Town Square semi-spoof of Lord. "Hacker," a Seth Able clone spews forth funnier poetry than Seth. Other features are fairly common, and menu styles try to echo Lord, and sometimes succeed (and at other times look pretty bad). Good town square IGM. |
