Board I found a cool way to access the BBS. RipTel...
                                    Telegrafix - Riptel
 Internet Tools
Trillian The program is QUITE old. I don't even know if
that company actually supports the software any
longer. Registration is $24 on their homepage,
but I'd bet you can find it MUCH cheaper
somewhere else... Just do some searches for
RipTel, I'm sure you'll find a better price out
                                     there somewhere.

Anyway, everything should be cool. Let me know
                              if there's any other problems.

Well, I'm making the server available tonight.
I've been working my butt off all day trying to
fix the problems that the AT&T Web blackout is
causing. Hopefully everything is on the up and
up. Let me know if you have any problems...

Ok, I registered dtserver.com and got the site
set up. Gotta get back to programming now. I
should have a lot of time to work on stuff this
                                  week. Wish me luck. :)

Ok, I've had to take a brief detour to learn
the Java programming language. The games I will
be making will make use of Java Applets. (only
way to get rid of that damn annoying click
sound.) Anyway... This may take me a few days.

Heh. I found a bug in my newsbuilder program
that caused the news to not work properly with
the customized colors. Took me a couple of
hours to re-write everything so that it would.
                                      Fun stuff... :)

I restricted access to most parts of the page
to registered users. To register, simply click
the login button to the left and follow the new
user proceedure. Pretty simple really. The
benchmark and color change stuff is no longer
available to guests. Gotta log in. I want to
know who's playing with stuff at this point.

I re-wrote part of the menuing system today. I
found a bug when I tried adding a userlevel to
the userfile. No big deal though.

I am continuing work on Multiplayer
Tic-Tac-Toe. I got the main interface working,
as well as data transfer. Now I have to wrap up
the game logic, login proceedure, and finishing
                                         touches.

                      Initial Welcome - Robert Olsen - 6/20/2001
                                      5:56:56 PM

                                   Welcome to DT Server.
DT Server is the beginning of what I hope to be
the first working program in a series of
programs designed to help me develop my
programming skills so that one day, I can
actually help to code for the Awakening
                                         Project.

For me, these are baby steps. I have coded
things before, but never to this extreme. This
whole website is dynamically created on the
fly. You can change colors, change menu items,
graphics, users, userlevels, news, and other
data through the webpage. I hope to add enough
functionality and ease of use to this page that
it will be a marketable product.

While I am working on this page, I will also be
working on a series of web based multiplayer
games. These games will be simple, but they
will help me to get a grasp on building
functional games. Right now, it's very
important to me to have a series of small
successes. My progress is dictated by my
success. If I go for too long without getting
something done, I will probably be depressed,
and being depressed doesn't help at all.

For now, enjoy the page. The menu at the left
has a little bit of functionality right now.
You can login, change your colors, and run a
simple web benchmark that I created. Items
listed on the menu to the left are user level
dependant. Some of the games that I'm working
on will require you to be logged in to the
system. You may want to create an account for
yourself by clicking the login menu item, then
                                     go to 'new user.'

I will update the news to let you know what I'm
                                        working on.

If anyone REALLY likes the way this page works,
let me know, and I'll add you to my 'potential
customer' database. If I can get the program to
an acceptable level, I will probably have
pricing for both 'normal people,' and corporate
customers. Normal people will probably be
charged a one time fee, plus $$$ for support,
while Corporate customers will be billed either
monthly, or yearly. I don't know how much I
want to charge yet, but it will be 'low'
compared to most utilities of this kind.
