LordNews #3 News Section:

News #1: Seth Able Robinson's Wedding:
Source: Seth's web-site. Info received from Bobby Queen:

Business as Usual. Thursday, June 15, 2000 - I'm now back in the USA and answering email. It was a great trip! I'm going to put up some pics when I have some time. Also, I've accepted a job as senior programmer at a new games company called Machineworks Northwest, Located in Salem, Oregon. Everything is under NDA so this is why I have not been talking about my projects. Married! Wednesday, May 31, 2000 -Seth. On May 25th, 2000, I was married in Tokyo to Akiko Hirokawa. I`m still in Japan now, enjoying our honeymoon.
DGT Note: Seth, I wish you lots of happiness with your new life, with Akiko and the new job.

News #2: Recent LORD Site Closures:

All links on my LORD Links Page have been checked, and it looks like since the last newsletter, we've lost Aesir Software, and Peter Jackson; the Romeo web-site; Fieldsoft IGMs; the WT-Lord Online site; and the WT-Lord webring site. 04/01/01 Update: Peter Jackson disappeared last year, and his email account was closed. The WT-Lord webring site seemed to be closed, but showed up again recently.

News #3: Castle Camelot news:

I have a new waterfalls page, the Yosemite Waterfalls Page, which now covers Yosemite National Park, in California. Also, I have added additional data to the waterfall descriptions on the Yellowstone Waterfalls Page. New waterfall picture information: Added four new pictures to HTML Resources Page in early April. Added five new pictures to the LORD Links Page in early May. Added six new pictures to the LORD IGMs Page on April 29 through May 03. Added three new pictures to Swimsuit Links Page on June 19-20.

News #4: Kiteria's Korner! Web-site Updated

Bobby Queen decided to continue hosting Suzanne Franklin's Kiteria's Korner site. As it turned out, we both decided to start rewriting the site at the same time. Great minds sometime think alike, and all that jazz. For those of you who've not been there in a long time, well it's completely different now. Bobby has done a superb job, with my help at times, of completely revitalizing her site, and we both hope you will all love the new look and changes. Changes: Got rid of the frames. Site graphics were revamped, and new ones added, including button graphics for page links. The Main page, Articles page, Links page, Extra page, About page, and Kiteria's Story page were revised and revamped. Brand new pages, by myself and Bobby, are the Archives Page and IGMs Page. All of the LORD Article files have been rewritten as needed so they are much more readable now. Also each page is linked to the main index page, and to the other Article pages.

The Archives page covers the LORD Authors Newsletters done by Bryan Turner, and my own newsletter archives. Web-site links and archive file links are provided that seemed of value to LORD Authors and players. The IGMs page, based on my main Lord IGMs page, but without waterfall graphics, now offers you an opportunity to download any Lord IGMs you want. Those wishing to find other Lord programs are invited to go to my Castle Camelot web-site and check out the other LORD-based pages. The Links page is mostly up-to-date, and will be by the time this newsletter is finalized Monday.

The About page now tells you stuff about Bobby and myself, as well as about Suzanne, our beloved Kiteria. And the Extra page may be used via the Mind-It service to monitor Bobby's various web-sites for changes. The new LORD Updates News page is the info provided here on LORD v3.55-v4.05 changes. To sum it up, we've given Kiteria's web-site a total body make-over, and new clothes. Let her know you love her new look, and drop a line or two in the Guestbook. Bobby loves to read compliments like anyone else. Remember if you want to reach either of us quickly, write us an Email message. And my web-site has a Guestbook you can also write in, to reach me.

04/13/01 Note: For more recent info regarding Kiteria's Korner, see LordNews Issues #4 and following issues. Red LORD barline

LORD Program Authors Notes:

Michael Adams -- Michael Adams' Homepage -- Wolfsheep: Michael's Programming Page

I am making an attempt at programming a DMOD for Dink Smallwood, and the idea once passed that maybe the old LORD2 worlds could be ported to the DINK engine. Such a project could do ... (1) Convert LORD2 scripts to DINK syntax. In fact, Seth mentioned in the text files how DINK is the result of complaints on what the LORD2 engine lacked. A simple executable could convert between the two ... to an extent of course (see #2). (2) Dink has 768 map slots, all with variable graphics data pasted from an (editable?) graphics database. LORD2 can support 40*20 maps (800); I don't think any LORD2 world requires the extra 32 maps, but some moving around would have to do. (And 3) The programming info is on hand to read LORD or LORD2 item databases, however the information to port this to DINK is lacking. Plus, while LORD & LORD2 can support 99 items, DINK can only support 16 items, plus 8 "magic spells." However, I think internal variables are not as limited as in LORD2, and keys can be assigned quite easily based on a script tied into a key's ASCII code. That's all I have for now. If anybody wants to keep playing LORD2, try getting some TELNET BBS' going: only 2 normal ones remain in my area.

August 2000 Note: The Angel's Planets site was recently updated with TEOS programs that I found and sent to Michael. Thanks Michael for putting them online. 12/31/00 Note: Michael's email address went dead during the fall, so he is now listed as a "Dead Site", and is no longer assumed to be active either for LORD or for TEOS programming. 04/13/01 Update: I located a working email address for Michael, and heard from him in February, but he has no current involvement with either Lord or TEOS. Since neither is being updated regarding Lord or TEOS files, I've kept the sites classified as "dead sites". Added alternate email address. 06/05/2002: Author dropped out of sight. Programs viewed as abandoned currently. The Angel's Planets site went off-line in early 2001, and was never put back up again. 01/28/04: Updated entry headers info. Michael is now using cwolfsheep (at) yahoo.com email address.

Ruth Argust -- DoorGames.Org - DDS on the Web

I don't have much to add to the LORD newsletter other than to say that DDSDOORS is still hatching out all LORD doors, IGM's etc. so that sysops may find it easy to find them. There is also a listserv for receiving all files hatched into DDSDOORS for those who do not otherwise have a way to receive them. Details regarding DDSDOORS, for authors who wish their doors hatched and this listserv may be found on the DDS -DoorWare Distribution System web-site at http://www.doorgames.org. My best regards, Ruth.

Marty Blankenship -- The GameMaster BBS Web Site

Yes I do plan on updating the IGM, and I have a couple of ideas on some new ones as well. I didn't point out in the Marty's Mercantile docs what the registered feature is. Although the IGM is freeware (callware), you get an extra place to go in the IGM if you have it registered. DGT Note: This is the only new LORD site found since March 2000. 04/13/01: No email contact since December. Classified as semi-active.

Jason Brown -- Jason's Programs Page

May 09: All right, there's a lot I have to say this time. :) First off, I released a bug-fix for The L.O.R.D. Cavern, bringing it up to version 1.40a. Basically, there were some problems with OS/2, but they're all fixed. Next, I've released LORDStat, version 1.6. This new version adds the ability to make custom bulletins. Also, I've released a whole new IGM, The Gateway. It allows one to run IGM-like RHP scripts. The IGM itself isn't too interesting yet, as it needs scripts! I'm working on two, and hopefully can get some sent in. Unfortunately, I have found two very insignificant bugs in the RHP engine, however I'm going to wait to release a new version, since I want to add some enhancements as well. Finally, I'm going to release a beta program that lets you test run RHPs outside of the IGMs, as soon as I'm satisfied with the beta version (and bother to make documentation). May 10: My web-page can now be accessed at http://farlander.home.dhs.org . I STRONGLY suggest you use this address, so that I can easily switch to new servers, should the need arise. Thank you! Updates: LORD Cavern v1.40a released on April 21. The Gateway v1.0 released on April 25. LordStat v1.6 released May 1. Gateway RHP Set 1 program, and RHP engine improvements are in development. RHPTest released on May 15. June 18, 2000: Subject: IGM problems: Seems my IGMs are having problems (possibly with Win98), and aren't working over the network. If this is the case, and I can't get them to work for the two people that have written me, I'm going to have to halt all future development, and maybe pull them altogether unless someone else wants to fix the com routines. June 19: AFAIK, the IGMs work fine under OS/2, both telnet and modem, but seems neither works under the cussed Win98. Once I get a little more settled in I'll try it out myself on my own computers. 04/01/01 Status: Semi-inactive. Still going to college. Has put LORD programming on hold, to work on new programming interests. 04/13: Changed email address. Will be graduating in May 2001. 08/01/01: Replaced email link.

Michael Bujold> --- CanuckSoft (Abandoned site)

I'm in the process of designing and building a computer game. It looks to have quite a bit of potential, a sort of simulation/real-time/ strategy sort of game. And as such, I've been neglecting my LORD IGMs, which I enjoy doing in the background. Canucksoft is currently working on LORD IGMs in the meantime. Any LORD or BBS authors who are dumping their old IGMs or door games, Canucksoft would be happy to pick up the slack. Visit the Canucksoft website to learn more about what's on the drawing board. And again, if you're an author you wishes to duck out of the BBS game, I'd be more than happy to take over your programs. I can handle most Pascal and C programs.
12/31/00 Note: Contact with Michael was lost around September, following his move to a GeoCities web-site. Has been listed as a "Dead Site" since October. 04/01/01 Status: Semi-active. Was able to renew email contact with Michael around March. Now classified semi-inactive. 06/05/02: Due to inability to contact author, all of his programs are classified Abandoned. 01/28/04: Removed email address hyperlink. In essence, web-site no longer exists.

Mike Dillon --- Crystalline Realms (CLOSED)

I am still working on ALE. Many ideas but so hard to actually do them. Judging by what I have planned I fear that it may only be a Windows 32 (95/98/NT/2000) application due to the fact it uses heavy graphics and to do it in DOS would be very difficult not to mention time consuming. As far as GreyDrive goes ... I'm not to sure, if LORD becomes a Windows 32, OS/2, Linux, and/or true Unix application then I will not only make ALE for it (probably using their graphics abilities) but will make a version of GreyDrive that will allow me to write the IGM I have been wanting to write.

LordNews #2 Survey Answers: ALE: Advanced LORD Editor. It will be renamed to "Advanced Legacy Editor" when I get a new version out. Version 0.30 will be a complete re-write of the original and will include more than just LORD and TEOS in it's setup. It will primarily be a GUI-Windows9x/NT/2000 program. When resources come available I will try to make a Unix and Linux MOTIF program so it can be run under X-Windows and KDE. As far as a DOS version is concerned. I have no plans for one at this time. The graphical environment would almost have to be designed from scratch. Version 0.30 will hopefully support several door programs, front end mailers, BBS's themselves, and any other thing I can find data on. The beta will test it's abilities first off with doors since they are easier to write for. Any suggestions on what to support and what to add would be appreciated. Kiteria's Korner Survey: Mike is in favor of someone running the site other than Bobby, who would devote more time to it. Is willing to help with site, but can not be a full-time maintainer. Official LORD2 IGM Site Survey: Wants site updated more frequently. Not in favor of anyone taking site away from Bobby without his permission. Unable to help with site full-time, but is willing to provide any Lord2-related info he comes across to Bobby. 04/01/01 Status: Fully active. See LordNews #6 for current information. 08/01/01: Replaced email link. 01/24/02: Fixed incorrect web-site link. 09/07/02: Replaced email link. 01/28/04: Updated email address. Mike now uses gsvalore (at) lordlegacy.com.

Codax Dragon --- Codax's Dragon's Den Ultd

Anyway, I still alive and kicking, as soon as I get a moment I plan to finish up the story arc on The Cruise. And If I can't because of the little problem I keep talking about, then I will just scrap that bit of code and move on to the endings of the IGM, because really that's all that are left, just a hell of a lot of animation and some hard-core testing. I really don't like the fact that something I've done isn't finished. I don't do halfway jobs ... not my style. I know I keep saying oh, this week for sure and I'd like to apologize to those who actually got their hopes up. Just as long people don't go Cruise = Diakatana then I'll be happy. So, no more failed release dates, I just keep everyone updated on what has left to be done in the game.

Oh now some good news! As I'm sure know by now, BOBBY is BACK! Send him stuff and you can send me stuff too. I'll look it over and tell you what I think you should do to make it even better. I don't have time to put all of my IGM ideas into action so I might as well give them to other people. Just give me something to work with. Anyway, this is just a short message to tell you hello and see if I can make it in the next Lord2 news letter. Any questions just email me. I love sorting through the SPAM to see who really want to talk to me. Have a great summer, Later. When Dragons fly, They are Highest in the Sky -- http://fly.to/drgnden/. 04/01/01 Status: Fully active. See LordNews #6 for current information.

Mike Ehlert -- Pacific Coast Micro LORD Addons Page (Revised June 21)

The new newsletter looks good. My website is http://archives.thebbs.org or http://pcmicro.com/bbs. LORD Authors and other BBS program authors are still able to send programs to me for distribution online on the BBS Archives web-site, previously hosted by Pacific Coast Micro, which is now a domain used commercially by Mike's company. Last year the BBS Archives became a member of the BBS Organization. Which is a group of sysops promoting BBSing by offering BBS-related sites on the Internet. theBBS.org also gives free web space to any BBS-related site, as was mentioned in an earlier newsletter issue.

Elric (Jay Weber) -- EarthDrake Software

Note for Lord II Ring members: I've changed files on my web-site from .html to .htm, so change any links you have to my site accordingly. For example, use http://www.afn.org/~afn50378/files/lord/lindex.htm for the Lord2 web-ring address. Now, as for my work on LORD/LORD2 stuff: Basically, I'm on a temporary hiatus. I had to reformat my hard drive to nuke a virus that was able to dodge all virus scanners I tried. In so doing, some of my backup zip files got corrupted, and I lost quite a bit, including all of my LORD/LORD2 files. I'm working on getting everything back, mostly from Donald Tidmore's site. I have no idea when you'll start seeing LORD/LORD2 programs from me again, but I hope it's not too long ... Elric. 04/01/01 Status: Semi-inactive.

Steve Gargolinski --- Black Dragon Software

Ok, let's see ... I haven't really been working on anything LORD- related, although I have been working a little bit on a new MUD with a few other guys (more info on that will probably be on my web-page soon). Maybe I'll write one more LORD or LORD2 IGM, in fact I'd say there's a good chance of it. The source for all of my LORD utilities is on my web page I think (http://bdsoft.cjb.net) - and if you want source for something not on there just drop me a line. So I guess I'm not too sure what's in the future - I'll just kind of do what I want to. Catch you on the Darkside ... 04/01/01 Status: Semi-inactive. 06/05/02: No valid email address; programs are classified as Abandoned.

Duncan Idaho -- VisualMatrix Homepage

My company names are Byte-Me Software Productions and Anvil Productions. General Update: Well, technical difficulties have all but put me out for the moment. My screen has decided it likes being green, and well, I don't particularly approve it. But I have not given up! Hard as it is, I still manage to do a bit of coding here and there. And once I get my new monitor, all projects will be ahead full steam. New Worlds: DUNELord: This sucker is a whopper. I've managed to cut the map-files down from 18 meg to about 15-16 meg, and have updated the graphics a tiny bit. Now I'm working on cutting down the redundant code and adding in a few animations (Inspired by Tien Lung of course). I'm in severe need of ideas for IGM's for this world, any suggestions welcome. Maybe a month off completion once I get a working monitor, and I'll need beta-testers for it again.. so Mountie, Tien - you still interested? Wheel Of Time: This got off to a roaring start, and also halted when the monitor went spastic. It's going to be another biggie. DUNELord being about 1300 screens, L2WoT (Lord2: Wheel of Time) being close behind at about 1000 screens. I'm working on the map for it, getting that over and done with. I agree with Tien - map making is a bore. It's still many months off completion, and that all depends on when I get the new monitor. Future Plans: Well, I have a crazy idea for a Pagan-based Lord2 ... got some ideas in a .txt file somewhere. Not sure if it will go ahead, but it's on the boards. Keep your eyes on the website for more details.
04/01/01 Status: Fully active, still working on DuneLord and Wheel of Time New World programs for LORD II. 04/13: Replaced email address. 08/02/01: Added web-site address. Does not contain any LORD information yet.

Peter Jackson: I've been busy dealing with my divorce, and my Air Conditioning service call work, due to it very hot here. So I've not had time to work on my web-site yet. I am still supporting my Lord/Lord II programs in case anyone wonders. 12/31/00 Note: Peter's email address went dead during the summer, and he is now assumed to be unsupportive of his Lord programs. As of late May 2002, Peter's IGMs have been classified as Abandoned for over a year now.

Korombos -- SharkWare (CLOSED): You can access my Lord IGMs directly at http://www.korombos.org/SHARKware/s_igms.html or by visiting the web site, which has recently been redone. IGMX and IGMH have nothing to report, since they have been more than stable for a long time. Fun & Games IGM, which I acquired and released an update for, is being developed for more Fun & Games. I have another IGM in development, however, it is put on hold until I finish up my other projects, like (finally) getting RoK (Realm of Kisom), G5 and my other acquired door games released.

04/01/01 Status: Updated email/web-site addresses, due to recent changes. Sharkware now has its own domain. Author is fully active. Currently working on finishing up updated versions of KDrive, KLord, and his LORD IGMs. 04/13: The updated programs have been released on Korombos' web-site. 08/01/01: Email link is dead, and web-site closed down since July. No reasons known. 06/05/02: All programs by Korombos were abandoned when he disppeared. A year later, he's still missing.

Tien Lung --- Godlike Productions Files page

Official Lord2 IGM Site Survey: Obviously I want to see the site updated ... It's hard for authors to make something and then have to wait for months before someone knows it exists. I am willing to help with operating the site full-time. Programming notes: I'm starting to re-write the coding for CALiB (CHAOS: A Legend is Born) again ... got some ideas to make it easier to write for ... I just find making the map really boring :( Will be finishing CALib in part by converting the complete map from Final Nightmare to use in it. 5/13 entry: CALib is getting a face-lift by merging with Final Nightmare. This makes it easier to complete a working Beta version which the only thing it will be missing is a working fight engine. Originally hoped for an early June release for the Beta, still aiming for it, but it might be a little longer ... 03/27/01 Note: Tien Lung has quit working on Lord II IGM programming. He is currently involved with Dungeons and Dragons programming. All programs are still supported. 05/10/02, 03/26/04: Replaced email address in header.

Bobby Queen --- Former Host of Official Lord II IGM Archive Site, and Kiteria's Korner!

Okay folks I am again getting the OFFICIAL Lord II IGM Archive up to date! I have gotten some reviews from Codax Dragon put online and I'm looking for others to help me review the IGMs still on the untested page. I AM going to continue running the site and will continue to run Kiteria's Korner!. Donald Tidmore and I have been working on updating both sites, and changing graphics, etc, so the pages will load faster, and yet still be interesting and informational. I have 2 other web-sites besides my BBS web-page and the Lord 2 site that are keeping me busy now along with my personal life. So the website may not be updated daily but if you don't see an update at least once monthly then send me some dirty email messages and tell me to get off my butt and update the site. :) By the way, if you have any suggestions of graphics or buttons etc that you think would improve the site then let me know ASAP! Thanks.

06/09/00 Update: I'm caught up getting everything online now and I need everyone to PLEASE send me any new Lord 2 files that they have. Work on the Lord2 Block Addresses FAQ page is proceeding, and will be finished sometime soon. 6/17 Update: Most of the work on the Kiteria's Korner site is finished. (See News Section for more info.) DGT Notes: Anyone who wishes to help Bobby and me with writing new LORD guide pages or IGM reviews for the LORD IGMs, for use on Kiteria's Korner, are welcomed to do so. Also, any Lord2 authors who wish to, are invited to help Bobby with updating his Block Addresses FAQ, which has not been updated since May 1999. Bobby's new web-sites: The first is FOTI (FidoNet on the Internet). His second site covers Puppy selling.

12/31/00 Note: Bobby's sites are currently on the Inactive List, not having been updated since August 2000. 03/31/01 Update: Bobby is still inactive, but his Official Lord2 site, and Kiteria's Korner, have both been updated since December 2000. 04/13: Please see ccigm-6.htm for current info on Bobby's status and activities. 05/08/2002 Update: The Kiteria's Korner! site was closed down on Bobby's server in early April 2002. It was relocated to my new site location on the Lord Legacy web-server on April 11, 2002. The Official Lord II IGM Archive Site was turned over to Max Larivee (cracktus@hotmail.com) in late May 2002. See: http://www.fidotel.com/public/l2archive/. 03/20/03: Reopened Kiteria's Korner in mid-January 2003 at new location: http://www.fidotel.com/public/kiteria/. Replaced Max Larivee's email address info.

Justin Scott -- Darktech

Hello everyone. If you have a LORD-related web site, let me know and I'll get you added to the BBS links database at Darktech. I'll be creating a special section just for LORD related sites if there are enough sites to list. Any other BBS-related sites are also welcome to be added to the links database in the appropriate section. http://www.darktech.org/links. - Justin Scott, Darktech Admin. 03/31/01 Status: No longer involved in any way with LORD for over a year. Darktech Lord files section was never put back into operation. 08/05/03: Removed email address hyperlink at Justin's request.

Bryan Stanbridge -- Purple Frog Productions -- Alternate Email: bryan@purplefrogprod.com -- Bryan's Files Page

Unfortunately, I am no longer involved with the BBS community, or with programming. My schoolwork, music, and job searches leave me with no time for programming. I will continue to fix any problems that might crop up, should people find and report them to me, in my programs. And I'll maintain my web-site, which is going through changes currently, but that's where my LORD programming support stops. As I said in the last newsletter issue, I'm still willing to transfer rights to my IGMs if anyone is willing to work on them and continue their development. 02/07/02: Bryan is fully active again, and is working on updates of his LORD IGMs. They are all in beta testing at this time.

Bryan Turner -- Vagabond Software
Vagabond Software Mailing List -- ICQ#:106168174 -- Bryan's software Registration Page

All info is based on Vagabond Newsletters: I have decided to not do any new releases or updates on ANY software until OOII 2.00 is done and out the door. This version will be telnet friendly. And a lot of new stuff as well. I am not going to stop supporting any of my other stuff, just put it on hold. ... I am attempting to open a Pet Store in the Dallas/Fort Worth, Texas area, and that is a hell of a project. Dealing with local Government is much harder than programming. :) If you are looking for a Registration code on any of the OLD GAC Software (Vanadia IGMs) stuff (Stuff that I do not support), I have posted the registration codes on the Lord page at my home page.
12/31/00 Note: Bryan is fully inactive as to Lord programming or web-site updating, since April 2000. He's still active in Fidonet Lord echo, and is still supporting his programs. 03/27/01 Note: Bryan has quit working on LORD programming. 02/07/02: Bryan is fully active again. He is now supporting Barak's House, The Latrine, and The Lottery. 09/07/02: Replaced email address link.

Spencer Vickers --- Miniature Lord site

Notes about DuneLord: I was one of the beta testers for Duncan Idaho's DuneLord.. It was a big Lord game, about 12 megs (zipped) I think, and last time I heard it was even bigger. The large size was due to an immensely huge map file. This was back a few years ago around 1997. Duncan is a fellow New Zealander, like myself.
DGT Note: Spencer still supports his Lord programs, but did not have anything else to add in this newsletter issue. 12/31/00 Note: Email contact with Spencer lost during summer, now classified as an "Dead Site".

04/13/01 Notations on above info: See ccigm-6.htm for current status notes regarding Elysium Software. For Prowler Productions, see update notes for its entry in ccigm-1.htm and ccigm-01.txt. As previously noted, Icerage and Benjamin's site are closed down. See update notes regarding Icerage in ccigm-1.htm through ccigm-6.htm. Due to its importance, they were added to Icerage's entries in each issue. Bujold's site is no longer classified a Dead Site, but is still inactive. Hellas BBS/Paul Koukos: Site is fully active, hosting LORD games. Author apparently abandoned Lord programming, and has not responded to inquiries directly about his Lord IGMs' status. Chet Rhodes: Quit Lord programming last year. Orion Elder (Knytehawk): See ccigm-6.htm for current info. No Lord II programming in recent years, but is still actively interested in Lord II, and a supporter of my Lord Newsletter. 04/13: I've added a short message from Michael Adams to ccigm-6.htm, for those who wish an update on his Lord programming status.

04/13/01 - Joel Gathercole Notes: He is fully active. Was on full inactive list for several months last year, due to birth of baby daughter. Has released new versions of Lord II: Complete New World; helps Michael Preslar with LORD II programming, and has taken over development of all abandoned Lord II IGMs, with help of various Lord II programmers. Site's new address: http://greenmachinebbs.com/lord2/. 01/28/04: The Lord2:CNW site is now located at http://www.lordii.net/.

April 2001 Update: Dead Sites classification: Since this issue was first released in June 2000, I started listing LORD sites as "Dead sites" if one or more of these conditions applied to either the site or its author/webmaster. (1) No valid email address for author. (2) Web-site appears abandoned, and/or has shown no update for at least past 6 months. (3) Author never responds to repeated email inquiries. And (4) author has given up completely on LORD programming, although most in this situation, are simply listed as fully inactive.

On Dead Site classification: TiefTech Productions - Ben Tiefert. Goldengate FTP site, with exception of Ddsdoors directory. Prowler Productions - Mike Snyder. FX Sound Systems - Collard. 3dham Software - Elson. Arctic Productions. The Mad Systems. Billy England. Carlton Griffin. No-Name Productions. Eric Richardson. PhSoft. Tony Brown. Shawn Highfield. Colby Reich: LORD Domain Web-ring, and Lord web-sites both appear to have been abandoned. Author does not respond to email inquiries. Section added to CCIGM-03.TXT newsletter issue file on April 01, 2001. Copied into ccigm-3.htm on Apr. 13, 2001. Red LORD barline

LORD 4.0x Changes Info Section:

LORD v3.55-v4.05 Changes: By Bobby Queen

Okay for the folks who have been wondering what has been added in the last 3 updates that brought LORD 3.55 up to LORD 4.05p, here they are. And rather than trying to describe them in detail I'll just list what's in each whatsnew.txt. (DGT NOTE: This information is stored in original format as "Lord-Changes.txt" inside the CCIGM-03.ZIP archive on my web-site.)

*** NEW STUFF IN 4.00a FROM 3.55 *** (By Seth Robinson)

* New command line options added:
NOEMS - Disabled EMS memory usage completely. NORIP - Disabled the RIP check. ANSI - Forces ANSI regardless of what the drop file tells us. Example of usage: CALL START 1 NOEMS ANSI NOTE: Always put your node # as the 1st parm!!!!
* Fixed a local only repeating number that was happening when seth_wait() was called.. I have NO clue how this got in the source, that writeln was NOT there when I tested it an hour before releasing. (4.00a)
* Turned range checking OFF, so roll-around #'s would be enabled again. Better than a runtime error it turns out.. (4.00a) (this was also in 3.55 but not in 4.00)
* Can turn statbar completely off. A UNIX guy asked for this feature, it only half worked before. Edit the NODE?.DAT file and change STATUS ON to STATUS OFF to activate it. (do this for all nodes)
* Took out some extra line feeds on some menus such as the town square. (it just looked ugly to me)
* Changed the prompt to be offset two, and be multicolored.
* The opening menu screen now has a default of [E] to enter the realm.
* Changes a few other cosmetic things to make it look more like my MBBS/WG version in the LORDTXT.DAT file.
* Fixed problem with the fossil initted comport 1 unexpectedly. This bug has been in my DDPLUS source forever, but I only recently fixed it for LORD2, so now it is fixed here too. (I just stole LORD2's comio.pas)
* Took a REALLY nice BlackJack game that Shawn Teal made for his IGM Wizardstone (he has scrapped the IGM since) and made it a random event in LORD. I recolored some stuff to make the color scheme fit and changed a few small things in it.
* Took out the annoying "Play the new SCIFI game New World" ad. Of course I replaced it with something else ...
* LORDCFG will now create the 3rdparty.dat file if it doesn't exist. (LORD already did this)
* When returning from an IGM, it will check the armour, weapon and your name for illegal ` chars. (this alone will stop a LOT of IGM cheating)
* When a negetive value occurs in player gold, bank or exp it will be set to 0 instead of 2 billion, making IGM's that let you go negetive harmless. (fixed in another place also in 4.00a from 4.00)
* Am not including the RIPICON pack. No one needs it, if you really do get it from www.rtsoft.com's file section.
* Didn't fix or change any RIP stuff, not enough people use RIP for this to matter too much.
* If MAINT.BAT does not exist, it won't run it at 'newday'. Before this caused a runtime error.
* If a player who is in an account over 128 marrys Violet, the game will not magically runtime error forever after. Don't ask me why I used a signed shortint for this before.
* A little tip: If you you want to make a CUSTOM Other Places menu, (for instance, you have like 90 IGM's and it's the only way to fit them all on one screen) create a file called 3RDALT.TXT in the LORD dir, this will be displayed instead of the one LORD dynamically creates on its own.

That's about it. Not really enough to deserve to be 4.0, but what the hell. -Seth A. Robinson. (seth@rtsoft.com)

*** NEW STUFF IN 4.02 *** (Michael Preslar)

In all honest truth, this release is a "cosmetic" release. ...
* updated all copyright notices, documentation, etc
* started work on optimizing the game.. when this is done, the game will run significantly faster.. Not to mention, it helps me learn the code.
* i know, i know. not really enough "work" done to call for a new version. however, its been awhile since there was a release, and there needs to be one with the new owner's name, Metropolis, name on it. - Michael Preslar

Note: I try to log stuff step by step. If anything, Ill at least know what I spent all day doing. ;> Ill also try to log which things were requested, and by who first.

*** NEW STUFF IN 4.05 *** (Preslar)

* fixed the jenny bug (only in 4.02).
* fixed a bug with the registration routines (only in 4.02).
*** Completely rewrote Lordcfg!
* Lord will now work with com ports 10 and higher (max 255) IF you have a fossil and your bbs software supports it.
* Added one jennie code, and took one out. and no, im not telling!
* optimized code: - main menu - the trainer - jennie codes - dark cloak tavern - abdul's armor - the healers - king arthur's weapons - the bank
Which means if you notice anything funny in these sections, let me know. Otherwise, everything else should work exactly the way it used to, since Ive not touched it.
* Up until this version, you could ALT-C (forced chat) several times, which would force you to ESC out of each of them. Not anymore.. Only one chat allowed now..
* some cosmetic work.. new menu screens and whatnot..
* new option: enable or disable the talkative NPCs in the inn (req. G. Pope)
* mail now has the date written on it
* added player descriptions (req by lots of people) .. look for the old man in the DCT..
* theres a use for fairy lore now - and no, im not telling. You'll figure it out soon enough.
* added resurrection limit (req from Gameport's message board)
* if you were on the entrance menu, and hit 'Q', it wouldnt exit until you hit enter.. fixed..
* Now, if you "twit" someone, Lord will knock them out of the game, AND add their name to LOCKOUT.DAT
* In turn, I added ALT-K .. "Kill User".. This just 'hangup' on the user..
* Divorcing someone now drops charm 50% instead of to 50.. This goes for Violet and the Bard as well..
* Which added a new mail code: `* .. `? marries that player to `* will divorce them and take away 50% of charm
* You can no longer divorce someone and then marry on the same day. This goes for Violet and the Bard too.. (req G. Pope)
* speaking of mail codes, the `V code has been killed. did the same thing as `E..
* Changed the "play blackjack game" key from 'A' to 'G'..
* If you have a horse, you wont stumble onto the DCT.. (Req. M. Lacey)
* You can no longer marry both Violet AND Seth.. (sorry George)
* lots of other little things that were potential bugs

New stuff within Lady - quite a bit hasnt been logged.. soo..
commands: * added @choice
* added @case.. itll handle "response" (from @choice) and &N vars.. - added ID numbers to case statements. will now safely run as many nested case's as you like :)
* added the prompts command (-----) * added the promptn command
* added math functions +, -, *, / and !
* @displayfile was already there. now it will do regular .ans files, and sansi style databases..
* added @label and @goto (-----) * added @set
* took some work, but got if/then/else's for &B's, &N's and &P's.. - added nested if/thens.. you can have up to 256 of them.. (-----) * added @runsub

vars/misc: * added 38 player variables! (-----) * added &F and &L (-----) * added &time
* added the string vars &S1 through &S40 (-----) * added the number vars &N1 through &N40
* added the boolean vars &B1 through &B40 (-----) * added `l
* added "smart" comments.. any text after a ; will be ignored
* added &nick (-----) * added &ver (-----) * added `k (-----) * added &rnd

Okay so there you go. Essentially, let me say as a player and a beta tester for lord402 and lord405p, that Lord has changed a lot since 3.55, and it's definately worth upgrading your game. I just hope that Michael keeps working on Lord and makes it as good as it can be. Of course he is supposed to be working on Lord 2 and TEOS also in the future, and I can't wait to help him beta test those also. :) Bobby Queen OFFICIAL Lord II IGM Archive webmaster, Kiteria's Korner webmaster.

Late June 2000 Notes: I've not tried to correct spelling in this area, of text by Seth or Michael, since so much of it is programming terminology. Also, for the purpose of turning this particular section into HTML viewable code, I've placed line breaks after each * entry. Some short entries I've combined using (-----) as a separator. I hope that helps with making this section look better on-screen. Donald.

04/01/01 Update: Those interested in knowing what is new in the LORD v4.06 update version, should download a copy from the Lord Legacy website - http://lord.lordlegacy.org - and read its whatsnew.txt file, and other documentation files. For more info, regarding Lord v4.06's release, see LordNews Issue #6. Red LORD barline

Post-Release Modifications Section:

Started Lord IGM Authors Newsletter, Issue #3 (Text) on May 10, 2000.
Text newsletter released officially via Listbot on June 20, 2000, at 01:19 am.

Revisions to Text file, before HTML page version creation: Redid Mike Ehlert's entry due to incorrect statement I'd made. Minor editing work, including updating links to HTML version of Issue #1, done between June 22 and June 26, 2000. Text file printing length, using Netscape Navigator, set at 13 pages.

HTML Conversion Notes: This version was the easiest I've done, so I guess one learns how to do this sort of thing easier as time goes by. The first issue took me over 2 weeks to complete. The second one with Bobby Queen's help took less time. This page was mostly completed after working on it for three hours. Adding HTML code tags, making all of the email addresses active links took a few hours more.

Started CCIGM-03.TXT conversion into ccigm-3.htm file using Netscape Composer on June 23, 2000. Creation process finished using a DOS text editor program. June 28 revisions: Added some missing HTML code tags, and made all of the email addresses used active links. Minor rewrite done August 10 to fix errors. Web-page version updated on Dec. 31, 2000 to replace changed email addresses, and do other needed updates. Fixed web-page counter. Red LORD barline

April 2001 Updates: Michael Preslar note: LORD v4.06, LORD II v1.02, and Planets: TEOS v2.02 released in early February 2001. 32-bit Linux version of LORD is under preparation. 32-bit Windows and OS/2 versions of LORD to be produced later this year (hopefully). LORD II and TEOS updates are primarily Gameport "brand" stamp revisions, with recompiled code. WebLord program under development. The Lord II updates, it should be noted, have fixed the problems some have had running the game on fast computer systems, 350 Mhz and faster. 04/10/01: Started ccigm-3.htm update, to bring it into alignment with the recently updated ccigm-03.txt file. 04/12: Made minor changes to Lordnews Issue links section. Completed alignment update work on Apr. 13, 2001. Updated and enhanced the Recent LORD Releases Section. Updated Lordnews Issues Link Section. Finished issue work on April 14, 2001.
